Toasty warm at notuch power usage!
Holy moly, this is amazing!!! Slept last night at 35° in our camper. These barely text the batteries and even on the first setting kept us toasty warm all night! Great product!!

I love it! Has kept me warm and toasty!
This heating pad has been the world to me, camping in a drafty popup A-frame camper. I mean, I just love it! I've got it pinned to the mattress, as it states in the instructions, and they even include the pins. So it's never crumpled in any sort of way, which they warn not to do (I guess so that heating element which winds through the pad doesn't kink or overlay part of itself and cause too much heat in one place). Personally, I've had it wired directly to a 12v lithium battery in my trailer, but on occasion, I use 120v-to-12v power adapters (when i've got shore power). And I can definitely tell that it maxes out at about the 3 or 4 setting when I use a power brick that 'only' supplies 6A. That's been enough for me most nights, but if it ever got super cold, like in the teens, I'd need to either connect it to the battery OR use a power brick that supplies more current to get the full heat this thing is capable of producing. On that note, I think it's really great that this thing creates the heat UNDER you, which then rises around/through you, and is held in by the covers that you put on top, as opposed to a heated blanket which stays on top of you or that you try to wrap around you. I honestly think that between this thing and the Milliard Tri Folding Mattress I bought to put it on, they've been the best money I've spent in terms of accessories for my camper. And that's really saying something coming from an apparently picky customer such as myself. That's all the more reason why I'm surprised to see so many negative reviews on this thing that have appeared since I first bought it about 11 months ago, and normally, I wouldn't even CONSIDER purchasing an item that has 18% 1-star reviews (normally, anything above 12% 1-star reviews is automatically a no-go in my book). So...I'm not sure if there are a lot of duds out there and I just lucked out by getting a good one, or if maybe people aren't supplying enough power for this thing to do its job properly. But I, for one, am very happy with this purchase. Take it for what it's worth :-)

Working Great 👍
So far this heated mattress pad is working great. I used it a few times before it’s warmed up. The few times I used it I was very pleased. I think I’ve found the right solution for me 👍

Extremely efficient
This is an excellent brand and an excellent product. I car camp in my Prius and on cold mornings. I like to turn this on to warm me up and get going and important thing to know is that when you first turn this on set it to high so that it heats throughout completely. Once it's done that adjust it down to the level that you want doing this ensures that you're getting heat coverage across the whole. Pat.. Make sure that you don't have this pad folded over into itself for it will cause heat spots which are clearly stated in the directions. You want this completely flat and if you're using a mattress or cot tie it down on all four corners or pin it down on all four corners to make sure that it doesn't fold over

12V connecter OVERHEATS
Great product except that the 12V plug gets EXTREMELY HOT and that’s just unsafe.

Crawl into a warm bed
This item works well. However do not try to compare it to Electrical blankets you are used to using at home. It takes a while to heat up the mattress, and I have found it takes far too long for my mattress to cool back down after I turn it down, or off. The coldest I have used it so far is in 45 degree conditions, and I left it on a setting of one and used 1 fairly thick blanket over a very thin blanket, over the sheet. Mostly I use it to preheat the bed then turn it off, or to it's lowest setting. I have it under a comforter under my bedsheet and cannot feel it, or the wires, or the safety pins you must use to pin it to the mattress. But there is no doubt it is on when you crawl into a toasty bed. Turn it on at least 30 minutes beforehand. The claimed 4 amp draw and the 5 amp fuse must be applicable only to the single model. I have the twin and it draws 6.2 amps. It cycles on and off frequently but silently, and the temperature dial is also the thermostat, so keeping it outside the covers will allow it to run more often( warm the mattress more) than if is is under the covers. The dial is numbered 1 through 7. It actually turns on at well below one on the dial. The Ciggy plug is one of the best designs out there. It fits snugly and does not warm up significantly. My Laptop can draw similar amperage through a ciggy plug, and it has partially melted the supplied ciggy plug. In my experience it will use a minimum of 1.5 amp hours per hour on the lowest setting. Keep in mind that alternator does okay at replenishing a battery that is below 80%, but will take forever to bring it from 80% to 100%. Using this product night after night without adequate driving or other charging source in between will abuse your battery, and eventually leave you needing a jumpstart, and after a few jumpstarts, a new battery. Do not believe that your 140 amp HD alternator can replenish a battery in under an hour. Batteries cannot accept those currents for very long(under a minute), if at all, and the OEM wiring cannot transmit it even if the alternator could produce it in the engine compartment, rather than a Laboratory Also a Marine/ dual purpose battery should be used as opposed to a starting battery. Starting batteries cannot handle deeper discharges and will self destruct prematurely. True Deep Cycle batteries are best for powering this heating pad, but 12 volt true deep cycle batteries are not that easy to find, and about 30% more expensive than regular starting or Marine batteries. Edit:3/1/14 3 winters later this product has failed. Well half of it has. I plugged it in last night and my amp meter said the current draw was half of what I expected to see, and only half the pad was getting warm. I recently cut off the ciggy plug and about 5 feet of wiring from it to the controller and replaced it with a better connector( Anderson powerpole). This resulted in much better performance as well as higher amp draw due to less voltage drop across the ciggy plug receptacle and connector. I am not sure whether it contributed to the failure or was the cause of failure. I'd hate to think the product was engineered with so little overhead on input voltages. They had to figure in battery charging voltages, the directions say to turn it on while still driving for best results. 3 winters is acceptable I guess, I roll over a lot in bed and I am not a light guy. I also am a little liberal in throwing things on the bed during the day. But I am Bummed as I did expect more than 3 winters from it. At least 5. Not sure if I will replace it with the same model. Not many options in the 12v variety though.

Is this heated mattress pad safe?
I returned this mattress pad for the following reasons: 1. The cigarette lighter connection became VERY HOT When the blanket arrived I plugged the blanket in to test the pad. It heated up…but so did the cigarette lighter connection. The plug heated way up – too hot to handle. I’ve done a lot of wiring in my vehicle (fans, lights, refrigerator/freezer, water pump, solar panel and controller, inverter, etc.) and no connection in my system gets this hot. Is there something wrong here? I think so. One reviewer reported that when they disconnected the hot plug it was too hot to handle and they dropped it on the mattress – and it burned the mattress. Not good. All owners should check that plug when the mattress has been on for an hour. In my opinion, if it’s too hot to handle there’s something wrong – and very possibly it’s unsafe. 2. That hot plug may not only be a danger, but also indicates unnecessary energy loss due to excessive heating. Perhaps it’s just a cheap plug, or a poor design (the contact points in these plugs are very small), or some other reason – but why the plug becomes so hot should be of concern. And I don't want to be wondering how hot that plug is -- and if it's safe -- when I'm trying to sleep. I thought about cutting the plug off entirely, replacing it with a quality two pin quick disconnect and wiring that to my 12 volt fuse box. This would create a high quality, fused connection for the pad and would not waste energy or create excessive heat. I decided against that option because of another concern (expressed below) for this heating pad. For most users the two pin disconnect would not be an option because that assembly needs to be soldered and wired directly to an adequate, fused power source. Cigarette outlets are much more available and convenient. 3. The temperature control of the sleeping pad appears to be inadequate. Another reviewer noted that the current draw is the same regardless of the setting (settings at #2 or greater). The pad’s temperature seems to be controlled by how long the controller keeps the connection active: for a lower amount of heat, the controller powers the blanket for a shorter time; thus allowing the pad to stabilize a bit before re-engaging the circuit. For higher heat, the controller keeps the connection for a longer period of time. The reviewer stated at setting #2 the connection was made for one second, then off for one second. At setting #6, the power is on for 2 seconds and off for ½ a second. “Off” for ½ second -- or even 1 second? The pad might as well not shut off at all. If you have a electric blanket at home, shut off the power and see how long it takes before you to realize that the temperature of the blanket is dropping. For me it was about a minute and a half at a setting midway between 1 and 10 on my electric blanket. In my opinion, the controller does not allow enough time for the blanket to stop heating and stabilize at a set level before the circuit is engaged again. Any setting above #3 or so and the controller is essentially providing nearly continuous power to the pad and therefore producing the highest heating. Perhaps that is why most reviewers keep the setting around #2 or at most #3. In addition, the short disconnect period of this heating pad does not allow enough time for those small connection points in the plug to cool. If the plastic exterior of the plug is too hot to handle, imagine how hot those connections points inside the plug may be. Therefore, I believe that the hot plug is a warning signal... and that the method of controlling the heat seems inefficient and incapable of providing a wide range of heat settings. A lot of people give very positive reviews, and again I’m not an electrical specialist, so my observations may be incorrect…you should draw your own conclusions regarding this heating pad. As for the many high reviews, it should be a given that the product heats up and it keeps one warm on cold nights – the fact that the product fundamentally works does not qualify it for a high rating. The customer rating should depend not only if it works and keeps one warm (that should be a given) but how well it works, how dependable it is and how safe it is to use. You may not mind using more energy than needed, but if that wasted energy converts to excessive heat and that excessive heat creates a fire hazard, that’s another story. So…what’s an option? After evaluating the heating pad, I ordered a heated blanket – one without an automatic shut off so it could remain functioning without having to reset it (you do have to turn it off when you’re done using it). When it arrived, I plugged in the blanket and set it to full heat (there are three settings). The cigarette plug of the blanket remained at room temperature – while the blanket became very warm. Two other settings allow lower blanket temperatures. The blanket has a much lower cost, has temperature settings that actually make a difference and it has no excessive and alarming plug heating. For me, the heated blanket seems to be a much better solution for sleeping comfort than the heated mattress pad.

We're really happy with this warmer.
We bought it for winter camping in our roof-top-tent. We tried it in our bedroom first. We put it across the foot of our bed with a spare automotive battery next to the bed. We like sleeping in a cool room. It was fully warm in 15 or 20 min. We used it on and off for three days. The 650amp battery was at about 12.5 volts and was at 11.4 after our 3 day test. I bet we had at least10 hours on it. The battery would see some recovery on it's own too. We finally camped with it last night. The temperature in and out was about 36 degrees F. The warmer was on a 5 inch mattress with a one inch memory foam top and then under a sheet. We could feel the thin wires but they did not press into us because of the memory foam under it. We had a top sheet and a down comforter. We never turned the warmer up over number 2. twe had two people, so that factors in, but it did get very warm and faster then we expected. It was sweet pre-warming our bed and it prevented cold spots. We both loved how cozy it made our bed. We camp with the same automotive battery for lights, phone charging and now this warmer. I'm certain my vehicle would start the next day, but I have the extra battery and "sleep better" using it.
