If i purchase this and currently have solid rear, do i need additional oem motors or switches? if so, where do i find them?

I have no idea where this gentleman got his information but you can replace a fixed window with a sliding rear window and the only other part you will need is a switch and run the wires to the front dash that's it real simple

There are many accounts of rear windows on F-150 trucks shattering during defrosting due to too much amperage/ weak tempering. Does this window work?

This window was an exact fit for my 2011 F 150 Platinum. I did not connect my rear defroster for the very reason you noted. The rear defroster is what caused the replacement of my window. Power sliding window worked well after install.
