Me and My Kids' FAVORITE LEGO Videogame!!!
The purpose of this review to is to explain why this is currently the Best Videogame for me and my kids. I play this game with my 5 year old son and 7 year old daughter. And it is great fun for us! This game allows me to scratch my hardcore gamer itch while PEACEFULLY being able to bring my young kids along for the journey. WARNING: This game does NOT follow the format of the other LEGO games. Yes, the story and writing are extremely thin. The cut scenes and and scripted events are few and simple compared to other LEGO games. This game is probably NOT for older kids because the gameplay is extremely simple and the story is almost non-existent. Why this game is PERFECT for me and my 5 and 7 year old kids: - My kids frankly don't care about cut scenes and story when it comes to a videogame. They find them boring. There are almost none of those in this game compared to others in the series. - They just want to play and get to the open world sandbox. And that's exactly what this game does. - Thankfully, there are very few missions that demand two player cooperation to pass. I can single handedly play through the story and missions while progressing the game on my side of the split screen while they can play and explore on their screen. Very few times am I forced to ask my kids "Please hand me your controller..." in order to pass a mission and enjoy the game. - Open world play is made available much more quickly and easily compared to other LEGO games. My kids learned how to navigate the world map and warp between planets very easily. And there are a LOT of worlds to explore and play in! - Since the release of this game, they have given 3 whole new worlds to download for FREE! - There is a small learning curve on how to access the building menu. But both my kids became experts at it quickly and it affords them extreme flexibility for open world play. - There are a HUNDREDS of characters, vehicles, buildings, items, weapons, super power items to unlock. It's fun for the kids to constantly unlock more things and expand the sandbox. - My son loves to build all sorts of vehicles and weapons and customize his character. My daughter loves fashion designing and loves to put together all sorts of characters and mix and match their fashion and accessories. - They both love to replay this game on a daily basis. - I love to play around with the "Super Items" like Super Jetpack which can be unlocked and gives the power of flight. Or Super Headphones that allow me to play "Everything Is Awesome" on repeat. - I am a hardcore gamer myself and I had fun using the Super Map to find all Masterpiece Pieces and unlocking the Platinum Trophy/Achievement. I've also unlocked 100% of all characters, vehicles, items, etc. So if you're a gamer who wants to have an easy, fun, relaxing introduction for your younger kids into co-op open world gaming, this LEGO Movie 2 Videogame is perfect! But if you're looking for something that could stand alone as a solid, hardcore, single player mode game with a traditional pseudo-cinematic experience, this game is NOT for you. You will be disappointed if you are hoping this game will be like other LEGO games. Additional Notes: I recently took my family to LEGOLAND for my son's birthday. Both my son and daughter had SO MUCH FUN connecting all of the HUNDREDS of characters and items from the game with the LEGOLAND park! Suggestions to Developers: 1) Please allow us to restart the whole game with all of our unlocked characters and items. 2) The Super Headphones should be able to play or toggle BOTH "Everything is Awesome" AND "Catchy Song". Because that party bus that plays Catchy Song while you're driving is one of the clunkiest vehicles in the game and gets stuck on everything. 3) It would be awesome if we could have the Super Jetpack AND a weapon equipped at the same time. 4) The skateboard seems to be the fastest vehicle in the game. It would be awesome if there was a fast/nimble vehicle like the skateboard that could shoot as well!

Not the same format as previous games
This game is different than some of the other lego games. It doesn't really have levels like some of the previous ones, and is more open world and confusing. You kind of have to navigate around instead. It is not good for two players - the other lego games would benefit from multi-player and this one makes it awful and cumbersome. Like moving one character to the other for a cutscene rather than just leaving them where they were etc. ( Since it is open world-ish you can be on total opposite ends doing different tasks). That being said, once you get used to the interface- and are playing alone it is pretty fun. It provided several hours of entertainment and I enjoyed playing it.

“The perfect mix of LEGO worlds and other games”
So, many people have been saying that the LEGO movie 2 video game is low quality and pointless, my opinion however is completely different. Initially my brother and a lot of people through it wouldn’t be fun and that it was very low quality, but once we got it, we had a blast. This game has so many characters, collectibles, and minifigure excess prices that you can collect and use, the missions are very exciting and interactive. I find the best way to play this game is in 2 player, in the word of my brother “it’s the perfect mix between LEGO worlds, and other LEGO games” extending upon this, I like that the game has everything as a LEGO brick just like LEGO worlds and has the gameplay of LEGO marvel superheroes!

Great game for kids & parents to play together
We purchased this game for our 4 year old. Of course we had to help with the quests- but even after the game is “beaten” she still loves running around and playing it, building, and changing her characters. It’s very young child friendly because you never actually “die” so there is no disruption to her playing. It can have multiple players, and us parents also enjoyed playing alongside her to beat the quests while she had a wonderful time as well. The character and item catalogues have a ton of stuff, and the game keeps on giving.

Way More Fun than I Expected (Maybe the Patches Improved It!)
IN SHORT: A surprisingly fun LEGO Game that's a nice companion to the excellent film. IN DETAIL: This game wasn't really on my radar when it first came out; while I love the film THE LEGO MOVIE 2: THE SECOND PART, the game got pretty low scores from critics and was apparently rushed to release to be a part of the marketing buzz for the movie. It also had a pretty drastic price drop within a few months of release. But, I've got kids who love all things LEGO, so we borrowed this game from the library and tried it out. After a couple of patches downloaded (which I am going to guess greatly improved upon the problems other reviewers have cited), we fired it up and had a really great time. We wound up ordering it from Amazon not long after because they really love it. The game is structured very similarly to LEGO WORLDS, but isn't nearly as frustrating for my 5-year-old because the controls have been streamlined and the progression of the game very loosely follows the film. While all of the characters play exactly the same (making them easy to switch out when you want to be the Giraffe Man or Watermelon Guy, for example), this game's puzzles are based around items and skills you acquire as you go. Each of the game's large levels have an open world feel and reward exploration, and a mechanic that allows characters to scale walls and jump aboard platforms in the style of games like UNCHARTED leads to some pretty neat opportunities for levels to open up and try new things. I was really impressed with the boss battles, most of which were really fun and which used the Duplo invaders to great effect. The 13 levels are extremely varied and often really creative, sometimes integrating characters from the films and from classic LEGO building sets like the Blacktron space series or from modern series like the DC Heroes Justice League. The developers included all of the worlds from the film as well as classic worlds from THE LEGO MOVIE, and there's a surprising amount of stuff to do. In each of the levels, there are collectibles in the form of master bricks that you can pick up both during the story mode and after you've completed the story. Many of these master bricks are available through missions, most of which are pretty simple "fetch" or "escort" affairs, but some of which require you to solve puzzles or battle bad guys. There are also treasure chests and heart-shaped alien invaders who drop special capsules that randomly unlock building sets, characters and items, giving the game some decent post-game replay value since there's a lot of cool stuff to unlock. Unlike LEGO WORLDS, you don't need different types of weapons for different enemies, and it's a lot of fun to wield some of the wilder weapons in the game. (Even the standard weapons, like Rex's boxing gloves or General Mayhem's Sticker Gun, are pretty useful and fun to utilize!) My kids really loved the opportunities they had to ride around on Ultrakatty (Unikitty's giant beast form), to ride a Blue Raptor or to pilot Sweet General Mayhem's starship. That they could easily play as the characters from the film or a wide variety of others (including mermaids, DC heroes, Unikitty friends, characters in outlandish costumes and the like) and play the game at their own pace made it all the more fun. They found this game considerably less frustrating than the more linear LEGO games of the past, and they love replaying it even when everything's been collected. (The "red" special items you can earn later in the game give you special powers that make it fun to further explore worlds that are already completed.) Do I have complaints? Sure. But they're not major: -The game barely follows the plot of the movie and doesn't include any of the new songs, which are a big highlight of the film. Queen Watevra Wa'Nabi (a standout character in the film) barely appears in the game. -The vehicles have all received a major slowdown and can only move as fast as the characters, even if they look like they should go fast. It makes the race missions way too easy and pretty pointless. -There are some bugs in the game that can cause it to crash if too many Legos are spawned. Fortunately, the game saves your progress often, so it's rarely a major setback. -The controls are still a little clunky because there's so much you can do with the various tools. It can be difficult to explain to a small child how to solve puzzles, though the in-game tutorials are really good at explaining the details. -There are a couple of missions that are really buggy, including one where you have to take a snapshot of a moon totem but can only successfully do so from the side. All in all, however, this game is well worth the asking price and will offer about 5-6 hours of story mode and another 10-12 of post-game missions and exploration. It's not as deep as LEGO WORLDS or as polished as the first LEGO MOVIE game, but it's still a lot of fun, and it's a really great choice for younger kids who are fans of the films.

its a lego game you know it will be fun.
like in all lego games you build, collect things, collect characters.if you like the movies you will like the game.in this game you won't have to constantly change characters to accomplish goals but change tools so you can use your favorite character more.the main goal is to collect purple bricks in each stage which isn't hard in this game but you will return on some stages later when you have the right tool to help you collect the purple bricks. overall this game is worth your money.
