is this a dye that I put all over my hair or just for roots?

Both - I use for my roots but my hair dresser uses all over when I go for a cut -it’s permanent and will build up if you do whole head every time you do roots - so best just to do the bits that need it. It does fade Slightly like any hair dye

Has any one had any success in getting purple hair with this? I've used this with a mix of majicontrast magenta and a 3% peroxide

I got a more plum type shade of the magenta when I tried that. Couldn't get it to a string purple

Do you need to use a developer or can you just put this on your hair?

Hi Rosie, you need to use a developer. If your hair is a level 6 or lighter use a 6%. If your hair is a bit darker (it will lift a bit) or you want it really bright, use a 9%. If you use the whole tube, 50mls, you will need 75mls of developer. Don't forget your patch test.

Are the shades similar to home box colour? I Use a clairol nice n easy beige blonde 9b at the moment, thanks

this is completely different quality and palette. check at professional hair store with professional hair products they should have majirel palette to check the colors.

So-so, perhaps use more than once ?

I have been dying my hair with box dyes 3-4 shades for about 10years. Wanted go a lighter brown so I used Colour B4 twice in the space of 2 weeks which led to a very reddish brick brown. After my research decided to combine a x2 5.1 Majirels with half of green. It did tone down the brassiness but definitely reds were still showing. After this whole palava went back to Boots and got 2 box dyes in the shade Paris 4.01 from L’Oréal and I’m back to where i started 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

Does get rid of orange/red in brown coloured hair

I was advised by my hairdresser friend to add this green mix to my box colourant 7.11 from L'Oréal, to make my coloured brown more ashy, less red. I took the plunge and it turned out great. The deposit of the green will make the colour initial week or so a bit darker/more depth. And it washes out lighter into the second week or so (I shampoo daily) and the ashy brown reveals itself more and more. I am also buying a green shampoo, to try maintain the look in between colourings. Fingers crossed. Overall I am happy with it.

habe diese grün-mischung gekauft, um den rotstich aus meiner haarfarbe zu nehmen und es hat geklappt. das ergebnis wird aschiger. ich wiege die grün-mischung jedes mal ganz genau ab und die farbe auch, es klappt sehr gut. musste mich allerdings erstmal mit ein paar test-strähnchen auf meinem kopf an das optimale mischungsverhätnis rantasten (das habe ich aufgeschrieben). an alle besorgten: es sieht null grün aus, sondern einfach etwas weniger rot. wer es grün möchte, muss wahrscheinlich das 10fache der empfohlenen menge dazu tun... ich bin sehr zufrieden
