Perfect for the playroom - most books and toys fit well.
This is a great storage cabinet. The wheels are a plus - I wasn't sure if I would like them, but I put them on and I am happy to have them. The instructions were pictures only - but easy to follow and the boards were labeled (something you don't always find.) I probably could have done it myself, but my husband helped and it went a lot faster. Using a drill stripped one of the screw heads- but we were able to work around that-just make sure if you use a drill, you go slow. The quality is great - the front and sides have a smooth rolled edge - not sure if I am wording that correctly. It was easy to put together - and they give you one extra of each screw, etc. Which was good - because I got one of them confused...user error - not their fault. I have bought three different brands of storage for our playroom, and I am happiest with the finish and quality of this one. It was a bit more expensive than the others - but overall worth it. It is quite sturdy as well. Looks like it will last. If I could change anything, I would not have the brand name at the bottom on the front. I almost didn't buy it because of that. It does hold larger books - just not really tall ones. The next size up which is six inches taller would most likely fit almost all books. It is not very tall - so the perfect size for toddlers to be able to reach what is on top without having to climb. I have a grand that is a climber - so this is really important to me.

The best Nordic-style bookshelves & a steal for the cost
I LOVE these shelves. I love that the 24" comes exactly to the height of the window sills in my 1908 house. I love that they are made of solid, laminated birch and that the laminations are so beautifully done, they look like art, not plywood. I love that the shelves have low casters, hidden under a bottom skirt, so that even when full they move smoothly and easily when Christmas comes and we want to put the tree in front of a window. I love that they hold a lot, that the light finish is durable & lasting, that you would never in a million years suspect these of being classroom furniture, yet they cost far less than a comparable "proper" living room bookshelf would cost. The only extra work they take is the removal of the wood-burned logo in the center of the bottom skirt. I don't like logo wear anywhere, and especially not on my furniture, so before assembly, I simply take a little time to lightly hand-sand the area until the wood-burned design is gone. Adds maybe 10-15 work to the total, but they go together so easily, even the extra work doesn't make assembly a big deal. There are two of these in my living room, now, and I have other areas in the house where I'd like to replace cheaper and/or chunkier shelves, or totally different pieces of furniture, with more of these. They're just so pretty, and so practical, why wouldn't I?

Best for Classroom Use!
The ECR4Kids 5-Compartment Mobile Storage Cabinet has become an invaluable addition to my classroom. As someone who's used many storage solutions over the years, I can confidently say this one stands out for several key reasons. First off, the build quality is impressive. The grey wash finish isn't just about looks - it's surprisingly durable and does a great job hiding the inevitable scuffs and fingerprints that come with daily use in a busy classroom. The engineered wood construction feels solid and has held up well to regular use. The five compartments are thoughtfully sized - they're deep enough to hold everything from books to art supplies, yet not so deep that items get lost in the back. Each compartment can easily fit standard letter-size materials with room to spare, and the open design makes it quick to grab what you need. One of my favorite features is the mobility. The casters roll smoothly even when the cabinet is fully loaded, making it easy to rearrange the classroom or move it aside for cleaning. They lock securely too, so the cabinet stays put when you need it to.

Very well built, sturdy
I’ve ordered this twice now, it is super easy to put together- the hardware is sturdy, the holes all line up, it is very very well made. The casters are nice and don’t scratch up wood floors, they don’t have locks but we’ve not had any problem with the shelves rolling around even with heavy use from little ones. It’s the perfect size for our space. The only thing we’re not too keen on is the logo on the front but whatever- since it’s made of actual wood you could easily sand and paint it. We’ve put a LOT of furniture together over the years and this was one of the all time best experiences. Was consistent between both purchases (bought about a year apart). Holds up very well, you can’t really tell which one is new and which one has been in our kids room for a year aside from some dust accumulated!

Sturdy material but grey wash doesn't match other furniture pieces
Very solid, sturdy wood, good quality. However I ordered the same "grey wash" as the other ECR4kids brand and the greys do not match. 3 pieces all say grey wash , this one piece doesn't match, it has a tan/green back ground tint, the other pieces have a dark grey back ground tint.

Best shelves for the money: Plywood throughout; no particle board; no cardboard.
I bought the white-washed shelves. These are the best shelves for the money that I have found in many years, mainly because they are made of high-grade clear plywood rather than particle board. Plywood is stronger and more moisture resistant than particle board--those are important advantages to me. Even the back panel of the shelves, which is often made of cardboard in other brands, is made of plywood! Moreover, the back panel is finished on both sides! The quality of the finish is excellent on all surfaces--there are no blemishes on the shelves that were shipped to me. Here's one more thing: Many brands have you tack a cardboard back panel onto particle board shelves using brads. But these shelves have a precision cut groove on the top, bottom, left, and right that the plywood back panel slides into during the assembly process. The hardware and instructions for assembly is similar to what are provided with Ikea products. I had no trouble putting it together. I would give these shelves a score of 10/10, if I could. I am completely satisfied and am pleasantly surprised that I was able to find shelves as well made as these for the price. They are excellent!

Sturdy, easy to build, solid shelves
I have no complaints except the instructions aren't the clearest. These shelves are solid, were easy for me to put together alone (once divider orientation was figured out), and are great in the nursery. They hold lots of items, especially with organizer baskets, and aren't a big risk of tipping due to the shorter height of 24" and a base depth of 13". They also seem to hold up so far to my kiddo banging his toys all over them. I chose not to use the casters, as my kid would just skate the shelves around the room if I did. The instructions are lacking. If you want pictures that demonstrate proper orientation, you will not get it. Step 1, the top divider goes onto the side with only 1 set of holes and the screws go into the bottom side where there are 3 sets of holes (two sets with plastic inserts). The slots in the wood need to all face to the back to hold the back panels, so watch your orientation with that as well. This is not clearly indicated in the pictures. It's easy to figure out if you have had to build a lot of pack flat furniture, but it may lose some people who haven't. Do not over tighten the pins that go in the plastic inserts, this can cause them to angle oddly, and then that can pull the plastic out when you go to put the pins in the dividers. It didn't happen with these for me, but it's happened with similar designs in the past, and I have seen review pictures where it looked like that had happened on these shelves. Over all, I have 3 of these and love them so far. If I needed more storage space, I wouldn't hesitate getting more. These beat those easily scratchable melamine laminate units, and easily chipable particle board units, any day of the week.
