Not very strong, too much wiggle.
Cheap metal latch plate that can easily be bent and broken. Would not recommend for anything you cared about keeping secure. Returned.

DOA
This was exactly what I wanted, as soon as it arrived, I connected it to my setup and NOTHING! Unit is Dead on Arrival, now I have to wait a few more days to finish my project.

Figuriamoci incassato in estate magari

I bought this to make a garage door lock, the bolt length is good and the function is simple, just connect 12v DC and then align the provided magnet and the door bolt will move to lock position, remove the power or the door magnet and the bolt opens. It doesnt matter which way round you connect the 12v DC and there is no indication on the device itself but its only a solenoid and a reed switch there are no polarity sensitive components inside. The wiring is exposed so you could bypass the reed switch if your application requires it. What I didnt like is that it consumes just over 0.5A at 12V (6W) when locked and also I could feel the solenoid body getting warm after 5 to 10 mins of being locked so for my application where it will be locked 99% of the time, I wasn't happy with the 52kWh for the year that would be needed to run it. The bolt stays in the locked position down to about 4V so you could devise a circuit that provides 12V to operate and then reduces to say 5v to maintain position to reduce power consumption and heating. Other bolts apparently operate at around 120mA@12V i.e. less than 2W so I'll try one of those next.
