Works on Black Mondo Grass
UPDATE: Added a third photo to show the growth since it was applied a few months ago. The grass is healthier and growing like I've never seen. If anything, it's proof that it isn't harsh if it gets on your plants. — We trimmed our Black Mondo and unfortunately, left most of it with dead ends. It looked terrible. I tried doing more precision cutting with a sharp hand tool but it was taxing and wasn’t showing much improvement. Thought I would try this mulch spray (black) on whim to see if it would help. Not only was it easy but the grass now looks ten times better. It’s even held up well in the Pac NW rain. I used 1/8 of the dose in a small glass spray bottle and sprayed in small sections. It went on easy and the project only took about 15-20 minutes, including the time it took me to mix two more bottles. The black paint can get messy if you aren’t careful but it cleans off easily with soap and water.

Highly recommended for anyone tackling faded mulch!
I recently used Premium Black Mulch Color Concentrate to revive some faded mulch beds in my yard, and overall, I'm really impressed with the results. The product delivers a deep, rich midnight black color that makes old, weathered mulch look brand new again. It covers evenly with good pigmentation, and one application was enough to bring back that fresh, professional landscaped appearance. The color looks vibrant and natural (not too shiny or artificial), and it has held up well so far through some rain and sun exposure. If you're looking for an easy, cost-effective way to boost curb appeal without hauling in new mulch bags, this concentrate is excellent—definitely worth it for the transformation it provides. That said, there's one important tip I'd strongly recommend: dilute the mixture properly before loading it into your sprayer. The concentrate is quite thick/pigmented right out of the bottle, and if you don't mix it thoroughly with enough water (following the recommended ratios), it can lead to clogging issues. In my case, not diluting enough initially caused the sprayer filter to get partially blocked, which required stopping to disassemble, deep clean the filter and lines, and flush everything out multiple times to get it flowing again. It was a bit of a hassle and added extra time to the job. Once I diluted it more generously and agitated/shook the mix well, it sprayed smoothly without any further problems. So, pro tip—take the extra minute to mix it right, use a sprayer with a removable filter if possible, and maybe strain the solution as you pour it in. Follow those steps, and you'll avoid the headache I ran into.

Nice Way To Freshen Up Mulch
I purchased a gallon of this and have put it down a couple hours at a time. I went pretty slow - back and forth so I wouldn’t have to put down the recommended second coat. After a few heavy rains I’d have to say it holds up pretty good. I think I’ll do this every Spring until the mulch breaks down enough to need to be replaced. My suggestions: - obviously apply on a little to no wind day. Tweak the nozzle setting. At first I used more of steam than a spray. While this is nice for shooting it further, it does splatter more. - I bought one of those cheap plastic flexible snow sleds. This works great for spraying around stuff you don’t want sprayed. You’ll need a partner to hold it in place and it bends around in all kinds of shapes or to protect a sidewalk. I thought about cardboard since it’s free, but this sled was worth it. - I used a new 2 gallon sprayer I purchased 5 years ago but never used. If I was buying a new sprayer I’d try to get the longest wand possible (24”?), as your back will get sore bending over. - I used 1.5 cups per 2 gallons. I think next time I’ll buy a new 2 cup measuring cup with a spout so it’s easier to pour into the sprayer. - fill the sprayer slow. This dye foams up and can over flow quick with foam but you need more water. - next time I’ll probably do it in June - after all the seeds come off the nearby trees. One tree covered my freshly stained mulch. - I got some on my arm - it washed right off with soap. I thought I’d be stained for a couple weeks. Good luck!

Works great, crushes sprayers
First time using it and it worked great. This one gallon covers A LOT of area. It has now been a couple months since I applied the dye and it has held pretty well in the brutal SC sun. It is certainly easier and much quicker than re-spreading mulch to all of my beds. I gave 4 stars vs 5 because if you don't work quick or stop for any reason it basically fries your sprayer. It ends up getting plugged at multiple spots. I ended up buying 2 cheap sprayers at Harbor Freight and they did the job. Overall, very pleased and will use again....just need to restock my sprayer supply.

Her is an idea that works.
Have used this product several times now and for over a years time now. A little goes a long way. I use it on wood chips that I make from chipping up dead trees and branches I have on our property by throwing them through a tractor PTO powered chipper. Once chipped, I spread out in my landscape beds and use a cheap Harbor Freight two gallon sprayer to apply. Once dyed, looks like expensive bark chips and makes chips uniform in color and retains its good looks. Very pleased with this product. Update: I have used this product now for several years. Instead of spreading bee bark each year, I use this to re-dye the chips I have. Makes it look like I spread new bark for the fraction of time and expense. Still very satisfied by this product and have reordered more for next season.

So far so good but impossible to clean parts used
I applied one coat, let it sit for about a week, then applied a second coat. It seems to be holding but we are only a few weeks into the application. Time will tell on endurance. It did make bringing the color back to faded mulch easier than applying more bags of mulch. It applied easily using a pump sprayer, However.... it DOES stain the inside of the spray bottle and it did clog one of the settings on the nozzle. I have had the pump nozzle soaking in various thing, ammonia and water for a couple days, when that didn't clear it, i soaked it in Brush cleaner (cleans hardened oil or latex paint encoated brushes) all to no avail. Right now it is soaking in goofoff. The instructions do NOT tell you how to clean any of it and that is a major down side

Good product.

Just what the doctor ordered!
This is just a quart, and for our end townhouse, at least 2 are needed, and 2 coats are a must, but it really, really perks up last year’s mulch, and so much easier and better to put out! We will buy and use again!
