Good value on a hard-to-find, unique spice. Very strong scent, taste is mellow when used sparingly in cooking.

Decent price. Arrived on time. Relatively well packaged.However, this stuff should come with a warning! "CAUTION, Will definitely funk up your entire kitchen if not stored in multiple vacuum-packed bags." 😂 The smell creeps up on you once the shrink wrap is removed. First, you unwrap and put it in the cupboard for later use, then inevitably forget its there for a day or two, then you come back to the kitchen one day and your nostrils are assaulted by this pungence. Once you follow the scent attack to its source, you remember you hadn't even broken the seal on the cap but your entire home smells like you're warding off vampires.It's as pungent as it is powerful. Iykyk. So I still recommend it.

Double bagged to keep in the smell. Product is good. Same standard as you'd get in any Indian store. Packaging good, delivery fast. No issues with quality or anything else. Get it.

It's not for everyone, esp right out of the container -- pungent, latex-gum-like odour. But man, when you let this 'bloom' in a bit of oil at the right temperature... so much subtle umami floods your dish.I use this in a simple fried tofu and garlic rice dish to raise the umami thru the roof. Do take care to dbl-wrap in storage however... the odour when this stuff touches room air, is quite rank.

Provides enhanced flavor to food without the use of onion. I am quite intolerant to onion/scallions/leeks, etc, but like the flavor nuance provided by onions. Hing allows me to prepare savory meals with layers of toast without use of onion. Very powerful and pungent smell so you will need to store it in an airtight container between use.

false product, do not buy. Let me explainIngredients listed in order from most to least in product. First listed is gum arabic, second listed is refined wheat flour (30% approx), then finally asafoetida.This means you are getting at most 30% of the product is asafoetida, because if wheat is 30% and asafoetida has to be equal or less that means gum arabic is at the lowest 40% of this item.The wheat flour i can understand being here as an anticaking agent, but not 30% of the product we are getting. The lack of description and details supports what i'm saying here because they are clearly trying to hide what they are selling. By misleading you into thinking you are getting a spice at an amount you would expect to be atleast 90% of the product we receive.

I use this product as a substitute for onion and garlic flavor because my mom is allergic to them. This product has a great price per ounce.The bottle is not good for shaking, so I filled an empty spice bottle with a fine shaker lid with it to use while cooking, then put the rest in the freezer so it would stay fresh for longer. Imagine a typical plastic McCormick spice bottle; I would say the 2-pack equals 4-6 of those.I also added a couple teaspoons of MSG to the shaker jar with the asafoetida and shook it all together; this helps replace the natural MSG from caramelized onions when substituting. For substituting onions, other than the asafoetida, I typically use an equivalent amount of chopped celery (mandoline on 2 mm) and a spoonful of sugar (just an ordinary teaspoon, not the measurement kind). This mimics the texture and flavors of onions.I will definitely purchase this product again. It just may be a few years before I need to! I use it almost every time I cook.

I just started using hing powder while experimenting with Ayurvedic recipes. Excellent stand-in for garlic and onion (for those who are sensitive) and this brand seems to parallel other brands I’ve tried well!

There were no ingredients listed other than asafoetida powder, however, upon receiving, it is full of wheat! We are allergic to wheat and seller doesnt allow returns so not happy at all with this purchase.
