This knife was very disappointing. Blade was poorly made with gouges in it and not sharp at all. I would not recommend and would return if I could.

The blade arrives too dull to work the bowl of a spoon or kuksa well. It looks as if it was only roughed in at about 220 grit. This can be remedied, however it take some time especially if sharpening by hand. I'll likely take this to the belt sharpener up to 1000 grit and then strop on the wheel to polish. The inside will need some work with a round ceramic hone and a round strop. Razor sharp tools make for better carving and a nicer finish, especially on green wood.At this price point I wasn't expecting a Nic Westermann twca cam, but I didn't expect to have to rework an unfinished blade. Beaver Craft makes one for a similar price with a razor sharp, high polish blade out of the box.

The design of this product is very nice. The long handle seems sturdy, yet it is unfinished and not sanded to complete smoothness. This is fixable. What isn’t fixable is the softness of the blade. I tested it on a thin edge of soft birch and the metal on the knife edge is nicked to the point of needing sharpening after two passes. How this thing could be used for carving a bowl, I do not know.

Arrived rather dull, and the blade chipped and snapped Into two pieces while working soft greenwood
