Great for Textile Projects

These will come attached but are very easy to break apart. Nice small design with good size pads for easy soldering. These have a built in 150 Ohm resistor (R) so they can be connected directly to a voltage supply.The color is nice on each are they are very bright.Here are the specifications/characteristics of each.Red - 20mA forward current (IF), forward voltage (VF) 2.0 to 2.4vBlue - 20mA forward current (IF), forward voltage (VF) 3.2 to 3.8vYellow - 20mA forward current (IF), forward voltage (VF) 2.0 to 2.4vWhite - 30mA forward current (IF), forward voltage (VF) 3.3 to 4.0vGreen - 20mA forward current (IF), forward voltage (VF) 3.2 to 3.8vBased on these characteristics above, the voltage ranges to achieve IF are shown below. Voltages lower than the recommended voltage are OK but going higher than the recommended voltage will most likely damage the LED.Red - 5.0 to 5.4vBlue - 6.2 to 6.8vYellow - 5.0 to 5.4vWhite - 7.7 to 8.3vGreen - 6.2 to 6.8vFormula: V = ((IF / 1000) * R) + FVYou will get descent brightness with 3.3v circuits. All colors are safe to use with 5v circuits. At a minimum, the voltage across the LED must be at least FV to get some light.If you are using multiple colors on the same circuit, you may wish to add an extra resistor to some to balance out the brightness. For example, adding an external 150 to 220 Ohm resistor to the red LED will help reduce the brightness to balance it against the blue or green LEDs. If you have a microcontroller you could also use a technique called PWM to adjust the apparent brightness of each LED.My only issue with these, which I did not deduct the rating for, is that each LED has the same 150 Ohm built in resistor. Given the varying forward current and forward voltages, the values should have been varied to optimize them for 3.3v circuits (based on the operating voltage of the Lilypad or the Flora boards), or at least designed to work directly with 5v circuits. The resistor values using 5V maximum would beRed, Yellow 130 to 150 OhmBlue, Green 60 to 90 OhmWhite 30 to 57 OhmAt 3.3v, only the red and yellow LEDs would require a very small resistor, 45 to 65 Ohm.Again, if you need to balance brightness you can add an external resistor. Maybe this information and/or the formula will help you decide the best value to use.

Great quality. Two sided printed circuit identifies colour and polarity.

Perfect for whatever you can think of. Solders up nicely.I’m using them for hobby craft illumination.I’ve purchased cheaper lights that cost less but they we’re of less quality.These ones have a nice + and - contacts on both sides of the board. colour and polarity is also very visible given the size. See attached photos.These would be the proper lights for costume and fashion work as I’ve seen them marketed for.3to 5 volt DC if I’m correct.They are dimmer at 3 volt. Maximum brightness at 5 volts.Have fun!
