precisely the best tool for the job, cheap and effective
Anyone looking at this item already knows how frustrating these frozen water lines are. And, like me, you've likely tried other misguided and ineffective techniques. There's three things I won't consider, however, and that's calling a plumber, replacing the entire door, or buying a water line heater. Really GE?! Your "fix" is to use even more electricity to heat up a component that was cooled too much already, so that it's functional again? Naturally, I consulted the internet for other people's great ideas and solutions. However, none have actually worked permanently. I've tried insulating the door with a thick piece of foam. Looks terrible and doesn't even work. I've tried using a heat gun, and even made a makeshift funnel with a cut open beer can to better direct the hot air to the nozzle, only to have it promptly melt the nozzle. I should have known a heat gun is far hotter than a blow dryer, but I don't own hair drying equipment. I tried pushing a long zip tie way up in the dispenser and leaving it there, so I could hypothetically pull it out, thus freeing the ice block. Nope. It worked sometimes but always sprayed water around the zip tie and mostly just froze the zip tie in place. The only thing that worked (before this brilliant solution) was opening the freezer door and waiting for at least 25 minutes. Yes, it's the easiest approach if you have time and patience, but you ultimately end up with frost covered food as it partially thaws and refreezes. I even tried replicating this most basic of tools by taking the tube off a hydration pack and filling a funnel with boiling water and trying to direct the hot water to the dispenser nozzle. Again, nope. Scalding hot water everywhere and not remotely effective. Enter the Water Line Buddy. Admittedly, a goofy name but you'll love this new friend. You won't even need boiling water. Hot water from the tap is fine and water is a far better conductor of heat than air. The line is very small, which is critical, as you insert it as far up the refrigerator's line as possible. When it stops at the ice blockage, you simply depress the syringe plunger and hot water melts the ice immediately. It helps if you continue to push the water line further up as the ice melts. I've never needed more than one application and usually not even a full syringe, so it's super efficient. There's hardly any mess. I just put a dish towel in the tray and it barely gets wet, as you don't need much water. This simple device works so well, it feels like magic compared to other so-called solutions. It really is the perfect tool for this unique problem. I mean, you can drive a nail by beating on it with a pair of pliers, but a hammer is always better. This is the solution you've been searching for. Yes, it seems expensive for what it is. It's just a big syringe with a tube, but the very small tubing is not easily sourced. And on a GE fridge in particular, you'll need the tiniest of tubing to fit inside the dispenser line. I checked local hardware stores and none had tubing this small. My time is worth way more than this costs. Speaking of which, the whole operation takes less than two minutes. Yeah, it's still frustrating that it freezes, but I relish the idea that I now have a tool that quickly and effectively solves the problem so well that I smile every time I have to pull it out.

Game Changer for a Frozen Water Line!
The Water Line Buddy XL – Extra Large Premium Frozen Water Line Tool absolutely saved the day. My refrigerator water dispenser line was completely frozen, and I was dreading a complicated repair. I used just two syringe fulls of hot water with this tool and the line was cleared. That’s it. Fixed in minutes. It was: • Easy to use • Quick • Mess-free • Extremely effective No taking the fridge apart. No service call. No frustration. Honestly, this is the best money I’ve spent all week. If your water line freezes up, don’t hesitate — this tool works exactly as advertised. Highly recommend!

WORTH IT, and so easy to use
Bought a house that had a fridge with a water and ice dispenser. The ice maker worked great, but we couldn't get any water. Changing the filter didn't work, and even though I have a home warranty I wanted to exhaust all options before forking over $149 for a service call. I almost-boiled water in a kettle, poured half a large coffee mug, put in the hose, and drew up the hot water. It didn't get far up the dispenser hose before it stopped, and that's when I depressed the plunger. It took about a dozen full syringes to get everything cleared, but now I have a working water dispenser! The further up the tube went, the more water dripped down, so I kept a smaller cup under the dispenser and would stick some of the water buddy hose into the cup so it would leak into that. Definitely worth the price!

Fixed my frozen line in under ten minutes!
Worked perfectly! It took about 6 rounds of warm water before blasting through the ice. Water is flowing again! My only complaint is that on round three, the tubing popped off of the syringe and shot water everywhere.

Easy to use
Item worked as intended but I thought buying xl version would be a lot bigger. The tube went inside my fridge waterline easily until hitting the iced blockage and repeated the steps needed to melt the iced water line. Glad I bought it but would have been nice if it were bigger on the syringe

It is a great tool!
This item is a wonderful invention and has made my husband a much happier person. He is a do it yourself person but the line on our water dispenser kept freezing up. He had to get out my hairdryer and spend time trying to defrost. Worked sometimes and others not. This little kit worked wonders. Thanks to the inventor!

Works! Push hot water up a tube melts ice!
You take hot water, you introduce it to ice, it melts. It's a nice package. You absolutely could build one cheaper yourself, but these people put in the effort, let's reward them! I used it on my Frigidaire indoor ice maker water dispenser. Refrigerator was still making ice no problem, when I push the button on the water side nothing. This is a quick easy way to access the internals to thaw them out without disassembly. I don't know what it would cost to have a service person come out, but I assure you this pays for itself the first time you use it!

Fair price and worked perfectly. Just be sure to use very hot water. I took several tries which I knew was going to be the case, awesome gadget to own now the next time the water dispenser line freezes I won't have to wait a few days for it to be here, I can do it right away only took me a few minutes very easy to use.

I was skeptical, but it worked. Took several shots of warm water to thaw the water dispenser line, but it did work. I also used it to melt the frozen ice maker feed and we have ice again.
