Very tube-like and Fantastic!!
I’ve had so many distortion pedals we can almost say all of them. This is hands down the most realistic and inspiring hot rod Marshall pedal I’ve ever used. Touch sensitivity is stellar, range of useable tones is vast, it’s quiet, it’s small, easy to use. Most distortion pedals with this much gain compress and or squeeze the notes so much of the dynamic range is gone. This one feels just like your amp but with all the gain you’ve ever wanted. Sounds fantastic with my Carr Rambler and my tweed fender clones. Mr Friedman you’ve proven your skills go beyond tube wizardry into the transistor realm. I have a Friedman Runt 50 combo and this pedal into my Carr is 95% of the punch and feel of the Runt - which is my fave Marshall I’ve ever owned.

Best OD I have EVER heard/had in a pedal.
I'm gonna keep this semi simple because I'm a simple dude. I have this running into an EVH amp, because I like to have varying degrees of distortion/tones. The EVH's are known for their drive straight out of the amp, and for good reason. It's a clean bone crushing drive. Well......This pedal os too!!! It is the most perfect OD I've ever heard or had. It's housed in a fortress. The individual tone/gain/presence/volume controls make it absolutely easy as it gets, to quickly dial in your sound. I'm not trying to blow smoke up anyone's 4th point of contact. It is simply THAT F'ing incredible. Don't hesitate if you're considering getting this. You WON'T regret it. Well worth every single penny.

Not worth the price
Not worth the price IMO. I get better results with the Joyo American Sound pedal at a fraction of the price.

Decent pedal, but not worth the price tag.
I've played an Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer for years, but wanted a pedal that would be more versatile and offer a new tonal signature. After heavily researching overdrive pedals for a year or more I settled on the Friedman BEOD as the likely candidate for satisfying my needs. What I have found is that the pedal plays a lot like a 100W tube amp -- it plays extremely loud on any amp (even at low amp and pedal settings), is not really all that versatile, and the tone quality is far below what I thought it would be. I consider myself to be fairly adept at dialing in an acceptable tone easily, but I just can't find what I'm looking for with this pedal -- not at any volume, with any setting combination, etc. So the end result for me is that, after 5 or 6 months, I have basically quit using the pedal and have returned to the TS9. I actually very much appreciate the TS9 now and value its tone more than I did before. I do plan on using the Friedman a while longer in hopes of finding that golden tone, though my enthusiasm has all but faded. Gear: 2003 Fender MIM Stratocaster with Texmex Pickups. 2004 Fender HRD, 2015 Peavey Classic 50, and 2017 Vox AC15 amps.

A must have pedal
this pedal deserve every penny paid. Extremely nice sounding, very versatile, high quality. If you are looking for a high gain OD for metal while cant afford to buy an extra OD for mid and low distortion. Then get this pedal. Highly recommended

Great sound though. (switching arrangement makes more sense than I'd though originally)
EDIT 9 22 24 I changed my view of the switching set up, I finally realize that the top channel is completely different than the lower channel, it's been a couple years, so I'm guessing that I wasn't really aware of that. It seems that the top channel, (the one farthest away from the player) is heavy on gain, the lowest setting is much more gain than the other channel at the same setting. This pedal is of similar quality to the mxr 5150 , very close , but it has two channels, which is a huge plus. Back to the good, the tone you can get if you use a tube amp is magical , like the MXR 5150, if you like an SRV / Allman bros tone, might not be the best for players that just want metal , but the distortion is good for a lot of things, including SRV, I should also mention though that the best sound I was getting was with the Sliderig, but it is quite expensive, I'm going to try a keely compressor, and see if that combination of Friedman and Keely can replicate the excellent SRV tones I was getting before.

Great pedal/great sound
Great sounding pedal, American made and solid! True bypass gives you a clean sound, and the 2 distorted channels provide plenty of options for 2 great dirty channels! Very tweakable … easy to get that “brown” EVH sound, or any other sound you’re looking for!
