Hands down the best practical bike stand I've seen anywhere
Hands down the best practical bike stand I've seen anywhere, especially on Amazon. Let me preface this by saying I'm a pretty anal person when it comes to durability, quality, design, aesthetics, simplicity, practicality, etc. When I first saw this stand in a picture while googling around for possible solutions for bike storage in an apartment, I instantly knew it was one I was interested in. Imagine my delight when I was able to finally track down this relatively hidden gem and find that the only negative reviews are from folks who either built it wrong or had an issue with the poorly written assembly instructions. I laid the money down and have 0 regrets. Let me lay it out for you: - Durability: absolutely great. Smart hardware choice make it very sturdy and they even provide the hex wrenches needed. - Aesthetics: nice, mostly because it's *minimal* - it can't be as sexy as a wall shelf or something artistic like that, but it tries its best and does a good job. - Portability: moving soon? No problem. No holes allowed? No problem. Need to relocate where you're putting it? No problem. Couldn't be better. - Reliability: again, absolutely genius design. The bottom braces are adjustable so that it holds your rear wheel just right while gravity pulls the front of the bike down to have the front rim rest in the hook up top. - Space savings: again, good choice to go vertical - saves a lot of space. Cons? - Price, although if you're going to have a bike for a long time without a more permanent storage structure, this is well worth it. - Assembly instructions can be considered unclear but anyone with a working knowledge of bolts, washers, and gravity should be able to handle it. This product is heavily designed with intent so if something feels wrong, it probably is. That's about it - the only other solution I'd consider now once I have a more permanent setup is ceiling hooks or wall hooks. Even then, a row of vertical bikes sitting on these would be pretty cool if it weren't for the price.

Very good quality and so close to 5-stars but...
I so want to give this product 5-stars, but I can not bring myself to do this because...more on that later. A little background, apartment dweller so space is a premium and try to get out on my bike during the weekends. One thing I was not expecting was how difficult it would be to find a single, free standing and vertical bicycle stand. I saw a couple elsewhere, but the sites were not in the US or did not list a price. Since I am in an apartment I did not want a wall mount. Price for me is very reasonable when factoring in this price is what I was paying per month for a detached garage which I only used for a small amount of storage and my bike. After a major pre-spring cleaning I was able to move all the storage items from the garage into a spare closet. My bicycle I had initially place on my balcony, but given it is the size of postage stamp I didn't have much room for my planters and furniture. However, I have a fairly large laundry/utility room which fit the bike somewhat perfectly. I would have to kind of put it in at an angle. However, I had to prop the bicycle up against the wall and was concerned with marking the walls with the tires and handlebars. So after a long hunt online I came across this product and ordered it on Wednesday and it arrived today (Friday). When I picked up the box at the front office I could tell by the weight it was solid. For whatever reason Amazon choose to put the original product carton in a box nearly twice the size. I opened the product box and took out all the parts. Everything is pretty much metal except for the red parts. The bulk of the assembly is already done and putting it together should be fairly quick and easy...SHOULD... Here is why I am giving it four stars instead of five...the assembly instructions are horrible. Translated from Japanese with Japanese subtitles. The illustrations are more helpful than the written instructions. Furthermore, there are three little bags of bolts, washers and nuts...these are referred to in the directions has bag A, bag B, and bag C. The bags are not labeled so you need to figure out which is which by the contents. Assembly was easy once I stared at the illustrations long enough to figure out what attached to what. With the product fully assembled came the moment of truth. First attempt was okay, but had trouble with the hook for the front wheel. Again, looking at the illustration long enough and trying to make sense of the directions, I was able to get it correct. Also needed to adjust the wheel holder for the rear slightly. This is normal as it can accommodate 20" up to 26" tires. Bicycle fits well, though I wasn't expecting this to be so deep. Between the angle the bike sits and the height of the handlebars, it does stick out a bit. If you have a classic "10-speed" with low handle bars this won't be an issue, but for those of us with mountain bikes. Not that big of a deal as I don't go into that room all that often. Bottom line, I would recommend this product. However, if you are dependent on written instructions to help you assemble this product, you are going to have some issues.

Easy to assemble, but not space saving
I was hoping for this stand to be the answer to my apartment-dwelling prayers: that it would allow me store my bike inside my apartment while saving valuable floor space. Well, while it technically does save *floor* space, it doesn't really save much in terms of footprint of usable space. I'd say the final length of the bike while mounted on this is only about half to 2/3 a tire length shorter than when it's standing on both tires with the kickstand. Major bummer. On the plus side, assembly for this was a total breeze. Had it up and adjusted in less than 15 minutes. Only 11 screws to put in place, and fitting together the parts is very clear from the pictures. In terms of stability, this is pretty average. Not totally flimsy but definitely sways a little when the bike's on it. And yes, I had it adjusted so it held the bike's rear wheel in all three spots, and the front tire in place with the hook. Personally, the utility of this is a bit lost on me. Unless someone is anti kick-stand, I'm not sure what the value-added is. If anything, putting the bike on it and taking it off just adds one totally superfluous step to my daily commute.

Great bike holder for city dwellers that have limited space.
This is a great product - it has helped me save precious floor space in my tiny apartment. Once assembled, the stand is very lightweight yet sturdy - it is very easy to get my bike into place. The assembly instructions could be greatly simplified as it is a little distracting with both English and Japanese. Perhaps the manufacturer could take a lesson from Ikea instructions which are very simple. Aside from the instructions, the assembly was fairly simple. A hint for assembly: although allen wrenches are provided with the stand, you will also need a pair of pliers or an adjustable wrench when installing some of the bolts that connect some parts of the frame together and have a nut at the end. You will need to hold the nut still with the other wrench as you tighten the bolt. All in all I'm very happy with the product and wish I found something like this years ago since becoming a city dweller.

Don't do it!
I had another minoura vertical bike rack which was awesome. Sadly, this one isn't . Set up is easy. It's a cheap piece of krap. Avoid it if you can. Very unstable .

Bad, unstable vertical storage. Dangerous.
I bought this in the hopes of storing my bike vertically to save space in a small apartment. It's extremely unsteady and doesn't hold the front tire at a correct angle. The first time I tried to stand it up I stepped back to look at it and it came crashing down, catching and ripping the front breaks off the tire in the process. An hour later, after repairs all around, I decided to try the stand again. Even on the 'smallest' settings (accommodating the smallest tires and the lowest arm extension), the hook won't sit at the base of the front wheel or allow the wheel to lean against it where the center of balance is toward the arm. The best I've been able to do is to balance the weight is to place the front tire inside the hook, as pictured, and even here it is leaning dangerously. Even if it doesn't fall, I'm very concerned for my tire frame and spokes. Further, I would point out the arm of this tire stand has three holes drilled into it, but the arm extension only has one hole and is tapered incorrectly, so if you have a small bike like mine you cannot actually insert the bolt at the lowest setting. This means the arm can lean and the bike's weight can pull the stand over to the right, or onto the floor. I have the arm simply resting inside the holder and, as I said above, it still doesn't hold the bike correctly. The stand is a nice idea, but ineffective to the point of dangerous as a vertical stand. Too expensive for a horizontal holder, in my opinion. If someone else knows a way of getting this to work, please comment or post pictures.

Very Nice Bike Stand
I needed a stand so I could minimize the floor space my bike takes up in my office when I use it to commute to work. This stand allows me to stand my bike vertically in a corner without having to lean it against my guest chairs or anything else. My wife researched stands on Amazon and narrowed the selection to two products, recommending this one to me. After reading the description, I decided to order it, and I wasn't at all disappointed. It is made of high-quality materials and was easy to assemble and adjust. Plus, it is as attractive as a bike stand can be. The stand can easily be adjusted to fit different size wheels, and one can stand a bike on it horizontally. It is a little expensive, but it is worth the price given the quality of materials used in it. I am a pretty exacting person, and this meets my standards.

Best Bike Storage
Easy to assemble and exactly as described. It's also light weight and more compact than I realized. A great space saver and 100% worth the price. It was $40 COD though and that was unexpected

Fantastic, high quality product
This stand performs exactly as advertised. I'm really particular about these things and I must say the workmanship and quality of parts on this is extremely good. The parts feel extremely solid, and I'm impressed with the usage of various types of washers and nuts used in the assembly. The stand is clearly built to last. It holds up my 29er hybrid (ERTRO 19-622 / 700C wheels) reliably and securely, with zero worries about tipping over or falling off. Clearly the design and engineering behind this stand was very well thought out, with very good instructions and diagrams. Minor quibbles: 1. The main 'axle' at the bottom appear to be reversible, and it doesn't matter which side is up or down when you screw the other parts into it during assembly. The instructions are unclear on this point, but it seems there is no wrong way to do it. 2. Instructions are a bit unclear about the intended orientation of the upper hook. Depending on the part of the instructions, the hook's orientation is drawn differently. People who complained about their bike falling over probably installed this hook incorrectly.

100% would recommend
This stand saves quite a bit of space when the bike is vertical. The build quality is excellent. The stand is very sturdy and I have no fear of the bike tipping over. It is a bit on the pricy side but definitely worth it.
