WEN Benchtop Belt and Disc Sander with 1 x 30 in. Belt and 5 in. Sanding Disc (6515T)

I bought this to replace my ancient Delta 31-080, which finally died in a shower of sparks, smoke, and nearly flame. Delivery was fast - 3 days via USPS. The Wen is much lighter, and has rubber suction feet to hold it in place. It was easy to set up. Squaring the belt table required adjusting a set hex screw set in the table - easy access until it fills up with debris. in theory, it should be a one time set up, so i guess (or hope) it won’t present a issue in the future. the locking mechanism is a set screw in a lever assembly - it just requires about 45 degrees to lock. HOWEVER, when the table is lowered, from 90 degrees to about 135 degrees, the lever extends above the table when locked. The disc sander requires screwing on the dust collection port frame/plate, which slides onto the rear of the disc sander frame from the side, and secures with three phillips screws. The table locks with two set screw handles. It includes a small mitre gauge; i don’t know how accurate the scales on the table and mitre are - if you really need precision, it’s probably best to make a jig. i gave it a quick test run, shaping the end of a ʻoʻo (digging stick). it handled the job fine - the belt tracked perfectly with no adjustment, and the platen is firm and steady. The dust port did not seem to do much independently - there was dust all over - so i guess it really needs a collection system connected to it with adequate suction. The motor and belt were nice and quiet, and there was no wobbling or excessive vibration. as noted in other reviews, plastic parts (table set screw handles/levers, belt shield, disc dust collection plate) do seem less than ideal, but adequate for the light hobby work which i am using it for. For the price, i am very happy. if anything changes, i will update my review.

Works perfectly well. The slot that allows you to put the belt in sometimes interferes with movement of the wood. I’ve worked around it, but feel like that would be easy to design better. Overall, I’m happy with the value and performance.

I have bought several Wen products in the last few years, and have had no issues with them. I did read other reviews before buying this and others complained that the instructions for assembly were unclear. When I received mine, the first thing I did was to open it and inspect the instructions. I found them to be spot-on for the easy assembly of this sander. They are easy to read and come with pictures, now you do have to read the instructions, not just follow pictures, I think so many people forget that these days. Over all the sander has good construction and is easy to assemble out of the box. The only down side I see is the several plastic parts, but I think you would be hard pressed to find a power tool now days without plastic parts. It does come with a 2-year warranty and speaking from expierence with other Wen tools, it is super easy to make a claim if there is an issue. A single phone call, and the correct the issue, and do so without accusing the user of something wrong. I didn't expect much at such a low price, but since it wasn't a tool I needed every day, I figured it was worth a try. Pleasantly surprised. Works well. Seems to have plenty of power from a very smooth and quiet motor. Belts are easy to swap. Only complaint is how the sanding disk is glued to the wheel. Haven't tried to change disks yet, but it looks like it might be a pain. Hopefully I'm wrong - because it is great in every other respect.

There is a small amount of assembly required, but it is easy to do. The sander stays put on the benchtop, even though it is fairly lightweight. I can get into places with this sander that I cannot with others, so it is a great addition to my shop.

Wen sigue dándome buenas herramientas ya con esta es una más de la familia wen con buen funcionamiento y rendimiento así como una inmejorable relación costo beneficio. Es ideal para piezas de pequeñas a medianas, su potencia es más que suficiente ya que sino tienes cuidado puedes devastar de mas, por su tamaño la puedes acomodar en cualquier parte de tu taller, es versátil ya que con ella puedo afilar desde los cuchillos de la cocina hasta los formones y otras herramientas de mi taller. Su bandas de 1x30 son Económicas y fáciles de conseguir. Definitivamente es la herramienta complementaria que me hacía falta en mi taller. El único detalle es la instalación de la base de metal en la parte de la lija de Banda donde si se complicó su instalación hasta que vi un video en YouTube de cómo ponérsela. Gran compra 👍

The first one that I order arrived damaged and I sent it back. Amazon.ca sent me a replacement one, and I was very happy with it. As with all the tools that I have I do a tune up on them first before I put them to work, eg: I made sure that all the wheels / guide for the 1 inch belt were round and smooth (which they were not done right from the factory) I made sure that the back bracket for the sanding belt was 90 deg's to the table top and that the angle indacator is correct on 0 and 45 deg mark. The machine is very quiet and smooth running now (no vibrations) and it works like a charm, for me it was worth the money and time.

I found it easy to put together although had a hard time levelling the base on the disc sander. Got it done and have been using both belt and disc without any problems and they do an excellent job. Money well spent.
