Ignore the one-star reviews, just put them in correctly.
I've had these curtain rods in my windows for 6 months now. They fell a few times when we first put them in, but once we really got them in, they STAYED. They don't fall down randomly, they don't fall down when we open the curtains, and they don't fall down when my 14 lb cat decides the curtains are her new jungle gym and climbs them. I'm not saying the people who are leaving one-star reviews are dumb, but if you're not starting with the rod at a slight angle in the space you're installing them in, they're not going to stay up. They're TENSION rods. You need them to almost be too big for the space they're in. The ones with the springs do this on their own. If I need to hang more curtains without risking my deposit, I'm coming to this listing first.

Easy to install
Used in basement with room darkening drapes. So easy to put up & remove, very sturdy, & can adjust to correct window size.

Used as a closet rod? Bad or Good idea
I enjoy how it looks with the curtains over the closet. Although it has fallen a couple of times. I believe we have found a way to securely install, but it also could be the weight of the curtains. It is good for lighter weighted currents and probably shouldn't be used a closet rod. I still find this product useful and it was definitely worth my money and time.

Put up curtains in seconds
I found this rod by accident. I'm so glad I came across it before I purchased the more traditional rod. You just lengthen and tighten the rod and you can put up curtains in seconds. It was so easy, I ended up buying a second rod after I installed the first one. I would definitely recommend this rod.

Use for smooth surfaces at stepladder height
Doesn't have a spring like most tension rods, you need to extend it into place and twist to lock. I don't recommend it for high places or irregular surfaces. I installed mine against brick, and one slipped with the first hint of force. And because I needed to find the optimum place for each, none are level. Not even close. A bit of story. I used a ladder to install them into a brick window frame ten feet off the ground. It was a little scary to use actual muscle to wrest them into place while at the top of a ladder.

Doesn't work
I didn't think it was possible to have a malfunctioning tension rod but this one does not work. It was extermely difficult to extend to the right length. There's no spring in it so it's not really a tension rod at all. I managed to cram it in my window but it fell after about 1 week and now the rod is completely jammed and I can't extend it at all. Total junk.

It's an affordable tension rod.
I wouldn't expect this thing to hold up thick blackout curtains, but it was great for the double layer sheer curtains we wanted it for. Cats managed to pull it down, so don't put any "tempting" curtains with strings or tassels on this thing. No setup instructions, really, so you may want to have an idea of how to install tension rods before you get it. It's not the highest quality but it looks nice enough and it's affordable.

Good Quality
I use this to help separate my bedroom area from the living/kitchen since our place is pretty small. We use a lightweight curtain on it, not sure how a heavier one would be.. It's fallen down once or twice but probably because we've pulled the curtain closed too fast. It does it's purpose and I am happy with it. I recommend.
