Pin Up: A Modest History

Didn't know what to expect when I bought this one, I'm a photographer, more as a hobby than a profession and I do a lot of pin-up and boudoir photography. As such, I have a LOT of books on erotic photography, and I have to say, this book is worth far more than it's currently trading for. Lots of illustrations, a lot of photos I'd never seen before, some outstanding vintage photography in here, well researched descriptions, and it literally covers the history and development of the pin-up models, from the Victorian age on through the late 1960s and into the modern age. It's a large book, very well printed, and I cannot recommend this one highly enough - get a copy while you can, this is an outstanding book!

People would be surprised to see and know just how many of the "new" models and poses are not really new at all. This is a great archive of examples of nearly all the erotic genre we know today, yet as a historical reference or origin. ANYONE interested in photography in any of the "Glamour" genres should have, and read this book.

This anthology of Pin-ups covers a span of several decades, incorporating the art of pin-ups featured in art, posters, magazines and magazine covers covers, and real life models, including both actresses and actors and constitutes a comprehensive look at the history of pin-ups from a Cheesecake tradition.

Damaged spine, more than half of the book are loose pages.

Great book for images and historical material. However, wish there was more color photos when they were available.

I haven't opened it, but I'm familiar with the artists. I know it will be great. It's part of my Glamour Library. I have a reference library that I use for poses to prepare me for my own photo shoots.
