A great bench that's worth the price, but with some minor flaws.
A fantastic bench, that is worth the price, but with some minor flaws. I received this bench about two weeks ago. I assembled the majority of it the night I got it and finished it the next night. All together, it took less than two hours to assemble. I was curious about several things that I didn't see answered anywhere, so I'll go ahead and answer a few questions I had. First, the bench can withstand 600 total pounds (user's weight + lifting weight). You will need a few tools (I believe I used a socket wrench and a 10 mm socket, but don't quote me on that), but everything else is provided. There are numerous reasons why I gave 5 stars for this bench. 1. The bench feels very, very stable when I'm lifting. I have the bowflex adjustable dumbbells (5-90 lbs) and routinely use 90lbs/dumbbell. When doing this, I haven't even felt the bench move. I also have a Cap bench that feels quite unstable when lifting this much weight (one of the reasons for this purchase). Granted, the other bench was cheaper, but this bench feels solid. 2. There are multiple positions available to do numerous lifts. You can do decline, flat and incline chest presses and you can move the bench part to 3 different locations to ensure your lifting from a comfortable location. I haven't tried the shoulder press yet, so I don't know if the positioning is awkward, but it looks normal to me (I know, really helpful stuff there). The preacher curl can easily be removed or change the position of it, so it's not in your way during other lifts. 3. There are two different locations to put the squat rack attachments in, ultimately allowing more flexibility. I'm able to use either one. However, if you're under 5'-5" or so (my guess), it may be difficult to squat using this. 4. The leg attachment can be locked in the down position, which is nice when doing other lifts. That way, it isn't swinging around when you don't want it to be. 5. The seat is nice and big (both wide and long). Again, my Cap bench has a miniscule seat and makes it a little awkward when doing one handed presses. 6. The preacher curl attachment is easily removable/addable as necessary. 7. There is TONS of room to use dumbbells with this, in addition to barbells. There are a lot of benches where it can become cramped when using dumbbells. I found this to be kind of annoying, even at gyms with commercial grade equipment. Now, I do have to move the barbell attachments (easily done). However, there is plenty of room for me to use my dumbbells when I feel like it. I have found some minor flaws. Some affect me and others have not. 1. The bench takes up a LOT of room. If you account for the room needed for squatting, a 7' bar and the rotation of the leg curls/extensions, this bench has a pretty massive footprint. I have an unfinished basement, so it's not terrible for me. But, it probably needs something close to a 8' x 12' space. 2. The seat seems to wiggle a little much. I haven't noticed it AT ALL while I'm lifting. However, I moved the bench the other day and it didn't seem as secure as I was expecting. As I just said, this doesn't seem to be a big deal and I'm sure it's fine, since I haven't felt it at all while I'm lifting, just an observation. 3. The preacher curl bar is kind of close to the leg curl bars. I actually hit the leg curl bar a few times with dumbbells while doing preacher curls. However, I have now raised the preacher curl attachment up to where the pin is holding the entire thing up (rather than being in one of the holes, I fully inserted the pin and then put the preacher curl attachment in, ergo the pin is holding up the attachment). Now it's a little high and I have to stand to do preacher curls. Not a big deal in my book and shouldn't be a big deal to anyone who has a curl bar. I personally found the preacher curl bar provided to be crap, but others may want to use it. 4. Using heavy dumbbells can make for some awkwardness with this bench. There's a lot going on and the seat is nice and big. All in all, that's a pro. However, when trying to kick your legs over the seat, with dumbbells in your hand, it can become a little awkward. I haven't used the leg extension part yet, but my wife seems to like it a lot.

Very nice piece of equipment!
I almost ordered the Marcy MD 867, which was getting hard to find.....then I researched and found the MD 857 and am glad I did. From what I can see, the 857 is actually better designed and has all the features of the 867. When using the leg extension, your feet do not touch the floor. The 6 roller design is a must. The seat back can be adjusted to near vertical, but this is not a lockable position, still usable though. Although a 7' weight bar would be more conducive to the width of this unit, I am presently using a 6' bar without problems. With a 6' bar, there is little room for error when racking the bar, but a spacer on the bar can be used to position the weight plate farther from the upright. I have attached a pic for clearance reference. I really like the plug-in bar racks on the 857 versus the 867. Although the seat is a little loose upon adjusting your weight, once I began my exercise, it didn't seem to distract me or make me feel unsafe. Also, putting this unit together from the box was very easy. All the needed hardware is included in two blister packs and are labeled with description and part number. The hardware I received in the blister packs was exactly what was needed to complete the unit, down to the last washer. Also, this unit is capable of using weight plates with 1" holes....just don't install the Olympic 2" plugs onto the weight holders during installation. Overall, this is a really nice unit for the price. It may not be designed for commercial use like at a gym, but for home use....I think it is a really well thought out, sturdy, and well designed unit. Kudos to Marcy for putting together such a nice and universal bench for a reasonable price point.

Nice bench all things considered
I ordered the bench on Black Friday and it was delivered a few days later to my delight. Initially I was worried because the box was extremely damaged on delivery, the parts inside were not at all secured, and I placed high odds on missing parts. However, all parts were included and assembly took my girlfriend and I about 2-3 hours, the time being delayed significantly because of one or two steps which I will explain below. In all, assembly was pretty easy and we spaced it out over a couple nights during the week. I recommend having 2 people for assembly for obvious reasons but 1 person could certainly get the job done. The tools required would be an adjustable wrench (not included) or socket wrench (not included, highly recommended), allen wrench set (included but stripped easily - recommend having a backup set on hand) and a screwdriver (not included). The parts kit comes well labeled and I found it very easy to find which parts I needed from the labeled packaging. The manual / instructions set for your reference can be found below. In my review, I will reference parts from the manual. If the link is expired please search for it online. [...] I did not encounter any issues until step 4, A & B. The U-shaped pin (#49) does not line up with the leg developer (#10). It's hard to explain but the leg developer I suspect was soldered slightly incorrectly at the bottom where it touches the leg developer support (#13). Because the part was soldered slightly too far, the U-shaped pin will not line up with the hole in the leg developer. This is not a big deal unless you want to do sit up exercises as indicated in step 5, C. For now I haven't decided what to do about it but I will probably just bend the U-shaped pin a bit to line up with the holes or drill the hole slightly wider. The pin's primary (and only) use is to secure the leg developer when using it for sit ups so there are no large amounts of stress on the pin and it's not a primary part for most functions of the bench. The other way to get around this defect would be to stack weights on the leg developer to provide enough resistance for the sit ups. The only other concern I have about the bench is the seat. I feel Marcy cheaped-out with designing the seat and left more to be desired. The seat is OK and will handle any load I expect to place on it, but it's a bit wobbly because of how it's designed. Please see step 3, C & D. The L-shaped pin (#53) is where the seat wobbles based on the design. Finally, I'm yet to actually use the bench as I'm looking for a discounted Olympic weight set but from assembly I am confident the bench will live up to it's ratings. Overall the bench is solid and I'm happy with the purchase other than the 2 issues noted above. I hope this review helps someone make an informed decision. For the price of this bench I got what I paid for and much more and expect to have this for quite some time. Good luck!

Good bench.
Package arrived a day early! The bench obviously needs to be assembled, but it is pretty simple and the instructiins are pretty good. Once assembled, the bench is sturdy and works great. The leg extension and two weight storage posts can fit regular sized weight plates (small hole) or olympic plates (big hole). There's a sleve that fits over the post so it will fit both sizes. The seat (Bench) pads themselves look amazing. They also have an attractive red embroidered logo. Very classy looking. The entire bench (seat & back) unit slides on the main rail. There is a nice spring liaded threaded pin to lock in the position you want. There are a total of 5 sliding pisitions to lock the seat into. The seat back is adjustable at 4 levels. 1 decline, 1 level, and 2 incline positions. The seat base is adjustable at 3 positions. 1 level, and 2 inclined. Now...... that means when combining the the three adjustable areas, there's still only one decline position, but multiple incline angles can be achieved. The seat will sit almost straight upright, and the adjustability of the base cusion will keep you locked in and NOT sliding off the cusion. Lol. Nothing about this bench looks cheap, but the bench cusions look top notch. The preacher curl pad is large enough for both elbows at the same time comfortably and can be adjusted up and down at 4 intervals. The curl handle is a nice addition allowing you to use the same plates for curls. The leg extension arm can be locked in place (for doing crunches) or free floating for doing sitting leg extensions or standing leg curls or side hip extensions. The curl bar is held on with a single pin so can be easily removed for doing the leg exercises. While doing bench presses, there is the normal bar rest up top as well as a smaller (spotter) bar rest below. Setting this lower bar rest in the second hole seems to be the best setting. It's the "oh poop" rest for when you can't quite get out that last rep. Though an actual living breathing spotter is best. There are a total of 5 positions to be shared between the two bar rests (2 on each side L/R) the diamond plating on the front of the post looks cool, but also helps keep the post from being dented. The multiple holes (bar rest positions) makes it easy to get the bar at a comfortable height at any incline level. There is a squat bar rest as well. I wouldn't call it a true squat rack, as you've got to take a few steps back from the bench before actually squating, but it does rest the bar at the right hieght making squating possible. The squat bar rest can be set at 2 heights, aproximately 4 inches apart. Well that's it in a nutshell. The bench is sturdy, durable, and looks great.

Happy, great for where I am at now.
I am am happy overall... Here are the negatives: 1. the seat/back cussion do not feel durable and the seat itself has some movement both ways. It doesnt feel like it will break for me (i am 180lbs) but a larger person over 200lbs it would be something to consider. 2. Assembly by myself took about 100 minutes. The instructions are clear, but the screws are all similar, and sometimes you need to pay extra attention to make sure you are grabbing correct one. I assembled it by myself, but the instructions state you should have 2 people... on a few spots a second set of hands really would have made things noticeably easier. 3. IT HAS A WEIGHT LIMIT OF 300lbs, and 600lbs TOTAL WEIGHT (that means you and what you put on the rack on bottom). it will never be an issue for me, but this is NOT the bench for power lifters or other hardcore people. Here are the Positives: 1. Lots of features - Bench, leg and arm curl, squat, situps are all easily done. 2. Value - You get a LOT for the $. 3. Visually Appealing - It looks like you spent a lot on it. 4. Great Beginner Bench - this bench will last me until I am too old to lift, can hold enough weight and i am already feeling sore without even pushing the limits. If you ever want to squat or lift over 300lbs, this isnt for you. but for 90% of out out there who are just trying to save a trip to the gym, this is great.

Very Sturdy and Valuable Bench for Shoulders, Chest Exercises and Squats
bought this about a year ago when I wanted to start working out consistently but couldnโt make it to the gym anymore because of a toddler at home. My main goal was chest workouts, and for that purpose, this machine has done a solid job. I mostly use it for flat, incline, and decline chest press, and it feels stable even at heavier weights. Iโve done flat presses with up to 170 lbs including the barbell, and I also use it for squats with around 150 lbs, and it has held up without any wobbling. For the price, itโs definitely sturdy and well built. That said, not everything is perfect. The preacher curl and leg extension attachments are okay, but theyโre not the strongest part of the machine. I donโt really use them and ended up removing them altogether since I have a functional trainer for biceps and a separate leg extension machine. The bench itself is adjustable and works well for shoulder presses too. I regularly do dumbbell shoulder presses on it, and occasionally overhead barbell presses. I also sometimes use it to do biceps using dumbbells, working out abs, triceps using a small bar. I'm 5โ10โ, and the size and setup fit me well. When I first got this, I weighed around 135 lbs. After using it consistently over the past year for chest, shoulders, and legs, Iโm now about 172 lbs. While the results obviously come from consistency and diet as well, this machine has made it much easier to stay on track at home. Overall, itโs not a perfect all-in-one machine, but for the price and for core lifts, itโs very solid. If your main focus is chest and basic compound movements, this is a very good buy for this price. All the best!

Pretty solid bench (edit 2.28.21)
*UPDATE* Been using this bench 5 days a week for about 6 weeks. The only issues Iโve found with this bench is that the preacher-curl bar doesnโt allow full stretch, and the top leg pads get in the way of your legs when bench pressing. Other than that my family and I find it very useful and worth the money! ***** Well I just built it and havenโt used it so I will update this with any deficiencies I find during my workouts. For those who complain about the assembly being difficult and lengthy, meh. As long as you follow the instructions and pay attention to the diagrams itโs really not too bad. There are a lot of pieces, but it is what it is and to be honest it was pretty easy. โ Iโve read the positive and negative reviews, watched the real review videos, and post set up I will say this: 1 - The supports for the barbell that slide in and turn to โlock into placeโ seem like they should be clamped. You can accidentally twist them while moving the bar from side to side (centering and prepping for a lift) causing them to be susceptible to being pulled out during a lift thus falling to the floor. 2 - Some people say the bar supports get in the way of the bar path. Theyโre wrong. 3 - The safety pins are kind of useless, not long enough and not enough position flexibility. Have a spotter. 4 - The welds are โokayโ, but as with anything mass produced wearing a $200 price tag, itโs to be expected. Iโve heard they can crack, itโs just metal, it can be fixed. 5 - The preacher curl handle will not allow full extension, but you can totally use it for lats. Maybe invest in an EZ curl bar. 6 - I will be reinforcing the front post as it looks like the leg extension stop will dent the post, and someone has had that problem. 7 - The whole thing was >$300, and I am happy to have it.

Excelente y Resistente

Great product for nearly lifters, a perfect home gym
I'm going to cover all the important aspects of this product (assembly and build quality, use, complaints/who this might not be for) to hopefully help you come to an informed decision. But TL;DR, a great product I highly recommend, especially if you're just starting out. If this review is helpful please rate it so! Assembly: Putting this product together takes a bit of time, but nothing ridiculous. I had help putting it together and would recommend having someone help you if you could, it makes it a lot easier to have one person holding some parts as you tighten and fit the pieces together. Took us just over an hour to build. Build quality is great, seriously did not expect something so sturdy for this price. The cushions and foam pads feel great too. There shouldn't be any wobbling so long as you've tightened everything properly and built it on level ground. After prolonged use (several months) you'll notice some dings and scratches from the weights, but nothing major aside from that. Just make sure you tighten it as recommend every couple months of use. Also, I have gotten a couple cuts and scrapes while using this, but mostly due to my own carelessness (be careful with the plastic that fits at the end of the foam pads haha). Use: Using this is great. The adjustable bench works very well in the inclined, flat and declined positions (there are footpads to hold you in place during declined benching). I've benched ~200 lbs on it with no worries, while someone was sitting on the bench with me. Squatting feels good on this as well (I'd recommend leaving the bench in the declined position while squatting to make sure you get full range of motion), with the adjustable pads meaning most people at any height should be fine using it. The preacher curl/leg extension attachment is fine. It's only rated for 100 lbs which isn't too much, but you can just compensate by performing more reps. Plus considering most products in a similar price point don't have this attachment, or they're rated for less, I consider it a nice bonus to have. For hamstring curls, finding a position that feels right for you does take some playing around, but once you've got a position you're comfortable in, it works well. If you've got long dumbells like me (20 inch adjustable), some exercises can be awkward, but again only a mild complaint that you should be able to work around. So for the most part unless you're quite an experienced lifter (squatting/benching 3 plates or more) this product will work quite well for you. Complaints: These are all pretty minor and nitpicky, but issues I've run into nonetheless. -The plastic end comes off the foam pads and they start sliding off, especially during leg extensions, sometimes annoying having to put it back in between sets -The pin holding in the preacher curl bar is quite short, never had it come off mid rep but something you have to keep in the back of your mind to make sure you're not curling at an angles so it doesn't come loose -The foam pads get bent out of shape pretty easily, not a major problem as they still function, mostly just aesthetic As for who might have problems with this, I can say, I've had people in all height and weight classes use it with little complaints. If you are below 6 ft you should have no issues whatsoever for the main bench or the preacher curl/leg extension. A 5 ft 2 friend used it and had trouble unracking and re racking the weight for squats so you might want to put some sturdy surface underneath to stand on. A 6 ft 2 friend used it and complained leg extensions and hamstring curls were a bit uncomfortable, but not too major. A 220 lbs friend used it with no complaints. Now a few final tips I have. Keeping the preacher curl attachment on you can use it as back support for seated tricep extensions. When benching, roll the barbell forwards, then set yourself up under the bar and unrack it to make sure the hooks don't get in the way. Same with squatting. Overall I highly, highly recommend this. It's one of the cheapest yet highest quality ways I've seen to build a full home gym setup. Having this along with a barbell and some dumbells, you can complete a full body program with ease. I've had good experiences when I had to contact customer support with a question as well. For nearly everyone, I think this will be a perfect setup. However, if you're very advanced, very tall, or very heavy, I'd recommend getting a full rack setup. Won't be cheap but you may have some issues with this product at that point. Thank you for reading, again please rate if you found this helpful :)

Efficient workout bench
We bought this workout bench during covid and very satisfied with it. It's durable, sturdy, easy to assemble and can fit in small spaces. If you're lazy to go to the gym but still wants to workout your legs and arms after a long day at work, then this home gym is for you. It doesn't come with weights but it has storage posts that you can use to store your weights in. Overall, it's a good purchase.
