Product Description CHOYA Extra Shiso Umeshu is a unique Japanese fruit liqueur that blends the rich sweetness of ume fruit with the aromatic complexity of red shiso leaves. Made with carefully selected Nanko ume from the renowned Kishu region, the fruit is steeped in alcohol with the stone intact and aged for 2–3 years, allowing the full flavour and natural acids of the fruit to develop. Choya uses an unusually high quantity of ume fruit during production to ensure a rich and authentic taste. This process draws out the fruit’s natural organic acids, creating a beautifully balanced umeshu with both sweetness and refreshing acidity. The addition of shiso (perilla), an aromatic herb from the mint family, gives this umeshu its vibrant ruby red colour and distinctive herbal notes. On the nose, expect aromas of ripe plums, red berries and delicate herbal spice. The palate is smooth and fruity with subtle hints of almond, marzipan and refreshing mint-like notes, followed by a long, elegant finish.
