Typhoo 1100 Teabags

I used to buy large packs of PG Tips and don’t get me wrong but it’s a great cuppa. However there seemed to be a period when the 1100 bag catering packs were just not available and was happy to find Typhoo readily at hand. I find it’s a stronger brew than the PG Tips which I prefer, though my daughter doesn’t. Price seems more consistent that PG Tips which I found fluctuates widely. Would be convenient if the bag was resealable.

My mother is obsessed with this tea. She loves it because it's very strong yet still tastes good. I find it a bit too strong, personally, but that could be because she also oversteeps. Her preference is for the round teabags in the sleeves, which this package does contain, because she finds the tea stays fresher that way.

Typhoo is one of the best-tasting black tea brands I've discovered. For one-time use, I like that the teabags aren't individually packaged and that each bag does not have a staple, string, and paper holder attached.

I was expecting the tea bags to come as 10 packages of 100. LOL... Imagine my surprise when I opened the bag and it was 1000 tea bags in the bag, no packages. No problem. I have a lot of Tupperware.

It seems that Typhoo has a problem with it's square format tea-bag machine – one of the two bags, they come in pairs, is often open and looses the tea wherever it happens to be: in the package, onto the table, onto the floor, etc. Quite a mess the first time! The tea itself is excellent, has full flavour as is to be expected from Typhoo, BUT many of the tea-bags aren't sealed, and that was somewhere in the region of 30% or maybe more in the two 1100 bags I bought! The Typhoo Tea company is at fault here for not applying Quality Assurance (QA) measures at the source. The importing company has absolutely no fault in this issue as the bags of tea-bags are sealed. In fact the importer was very helpful here and we found a suitable solution to the dilemma. My suggestion: buy the 1100 pack and be prepared to have quite a few rejects, or spend a little more and buy Typhoo Tea 160 box in which the tea-bags have the same flavour, but are circular and all correctly sealed. Packed on a different machine! The tea is definitely to be recommended, hence the four stars, one missing for the bag bug. The service from this company is also commendable.

En casa tomamos té negro a díario. Es una bolsa enorme, llevo meses gastando y aún queda. El sabor es bueno, intenso, pero no demasiado. Excelente precio. Si lo mantienes hermetico, fresco y fuera de la luz, no pierde cualidades.

I have always loved Typhoo tea, and have seldom departed from it. When I have, it was usually to try some of the more exotic ones. But I always return to Typhoo. Curiously I have found that the local supermarkets do stock it, but sometimes allow the Typhoo shelf to become empty; perhaps it is price competition from other brands or maybe it is demand-related, I don't know. I saw this offer in Amazon and on a whim, accepted it. It came promptly. First impressions were of a large, heavy sack of tea! Where was I going to put it all? I made two parcels in aluminum foil, to fit into two large biscuit tins in the garage. The remainder, which will be used first, is in two caddies and the bottom of the plastic sack in which it came. I am told tea can improve through a form of fermentation process during keeping, so it should get better and better! The rectangular tea bags themselves, come in pairs, joined by perforations which assist their separation. They are one-cup bags, so are a little smaller than the circular ones we are used to buying. I find them perfectly satisfactory for making, not just a cup, but a mug of tea. Delicious. I am delighted with this purchase and without having done the maths, believe that it is a very economical way of overcoming the curious negligence of the local supermarkets (in Warrington). It is always difficult to make a recommendation to other people on taste, so I can only speak for myself, but have been most pleased with this purchase, having consumed several weeks worth already. How thirsty writing this has made me...................
