Reliable DOT-5 Brake Fluid That Performs as Expected
Johnsenโs DOT-5 Silicone Brake Fluid worked exactly as expected and feels like a dependable product for the right application. I purchased it specifically because I needed DOT-5 brake fluid, and this 12 oz bottle was a convenient size without being wasteful. The quality seems solid, and the fluid was easy to pour without making a mess. The bottle is simple, practical, and easy to store if you do not use the full amount at once. For maintenance work, small details like that make the job easier. What I like most is that it gives confidence when working on a brake system that specifically requires DOT-5 silicone fluid. It feels like a reliable option for older vehicles, motorcycles, or systems where DOT-5 is recommended. The performance has been consistent so far, and I have not noticed any issues after use. One important thing is to make sure your vehicle or equipment actually calls for DOT-5, since it is not the same as DOT-3 or DOT-4. But if DOT-5 is what you need, this product does the job well. Overall, this is a good-quality brake fluid at a practical size and worked perfectly for my needs. I would buy it again for the correct DOT-5 application. Five stars!

Purple color is accurate. Motorcycle application use is working for me.
Very good price for this Dot 5 brake fluid. I am using it on a 1977 Harley-Davidson FLH 1200cc Shovelhead. Good purple color indicates that it is indeed Dot Five!

Extra work, but absolute best brake fluid- for your vintage car
You need this for vehicles that sit a lot. If you have a classic car; or any vehicle that has hydraulic brakes and sits in storage for extended periods; this is for you. Be forewarned- you must remove ALL the glycol-based brake fluid from your brake system before installing this fluid. It's advisable to replace as many parts as you can. Further, it is thin and oily and will invade EVERY surface it touches. That said, you can't tell the difference between this and your old glycol fluid- except your brakes will never corrode because this fluid resists water rather than absorbing it! It's also has a high boiling point, so heat-related brake fade is less of a problem. This stuff requires an investment of elbow grease, but for certain vehicles, it's a must-have. Due to a comment received from JHP, I think it's necessary to add a few further remarks to my review. I was unaware that silicone brake fluid is a no-no in ABS systems. However, with all due respect, the vast majority of vehicles that use ABS will be run out to the end of their service lives and junked. Further, long-term absorption of water into highly hydroscopic glycol fluid is not an issue if your ABS brakes receive depressurization and air-bleeding at normal intervals. Just swap out the old fluid while you're in there working. My review deals with silicone brake fluid in "vintage" or "classic" applications where the car may sit for extended periods. I hope this clarifies my review. I'm VERY SATISFIED with the performance of this brake fluid in my 1961 Studebaker Lark!

It's brake fluid
I find it surprising how hard it is to find. 5 brake fluid, silicon based. Needed this for my older motorcycle, and it worked fine so far. The real test is overtime. Though I don't expect any issues
