Battery Replacement Kit for Garmin Nuvi 2589 and Nuvi 2589LMT with Tools, How-to Video and Long Life Battery

WORKS Perfectly The corner where the wires come out are not exactly the same as the original requiring me to trim off a small piece on the Garmin frame to allow the wires to come out and turn the corner to fit.

My old Garmin Nuvi 2589 sometimes required a manual reset for no discernible reason, so based on some limited "research" I thought that perhaps it was an issue with the original battery. I bought and later installed this battery, and while my Nuvi still requires a few infrequent manual resets, I have virtually no complaints with this battery. The available instructions were great, and the battery and cable assembly were configured exactly like the OEM ones. It is rather easy to install by anyone who's comfortable working on electronic devices with miniature tools, and my Nuvi is still accompanying me every time I load up the truck and head out on a trip.

I'm not tech proficient, so printed instructions or diagram, would have been most helpful. Thanks to a YouTube video, after several attempts, I was finally able to insert it properly. The enclosed instruments were also disappointing--the plastic instrument used to pry open the casing was difficult to use--the ends need to be sharper--and, after releasing 2 of the casing screws, the screw driver no longer worked (its tip no longer gripped). Lastly, connecting the battery to the unit was tricky, requiring several attempts before it finally connected properly.

Easy to install. Garmin works like new. Lot cheaper then buying a new GPS. Now have battery that takes a charge.

The battery connector was smaller than the one I was replacing so the connector / pins wouldn't line up during the replacement, I returned this battery

I’m a dinosaur that still likes a freestanding GPS, so batter replacement was a good idea. The installation was a little tricky mostly because initially I had the plug upside down. I watched a YouTube installation video which helped. The GPS powered up right away and everything works great.

When the battery went bad I thought my Garmin was a goner. It has new life. The instructional video walked me through the replacement process easily. The tools provided were perfect. And as a DIY project I’d give myself an A+.

This product was advertised as a direct replacement for the battery in my Garmin NUVI2589LMT GPS. Almost, but not quite. The battery lead extended from the right top corner horizontally. that was the only way the lead was long enough to reach the connection to the unit. This resulted in an interference fit and sever bending of the battery lead with a vertical divide in the case that is designed to contain the battery. I ended up slicing off about 1/16 inch of this case material so the lead was not pinched between the battery and the divide. The battery fully charged in about 4 hour time. The original battery was 7 years old would not hold a charge for more than 3 days before it was useless. We will see how long this one holds a charge. The Torque head screw driver that came with the kit was a T4. The screws on mine are a T5, luckily I had the right size. Also, I could not get the CD to load on my Windows 10 machine. I ended up going to the Newpower99 web page, found the battery and downloaded the video as it was included with the product description.
