Kronos Authentic Gyros Slices, Fully Cooked

I've tried a few of these products from other vendors, and found this Kronos product to be the highest quality among all those I tried. In addition, I had a small problem with the hot weather in my area and when it was delivered I knew the shelf life was compromised. I explained this to the Seller and they were very responsive, and helpful. I was very satisfied with the help they provided. I would certainly buy from them again and do recommend this Seller.

Good value and awesome flavor and quality

Arrived today and we did a taste test. The gyro meat was all in one plastic package that was placed in a silver cooling bag. It did not arrive frozen but was cold. The weight of the meat and the clear bag it's packed in clocked in at just under 5 pounds. (It's listed and sold as 5 pounds of meat.) As for taste, we cooked up some as is, straight out of the bag. It was good but not as flavorful as we prefer. We sprinkled some Cavender's on the second batch and that made a big difference. We prefer our gyro meat to be sliced a bit thicker but that's just a personal preference. We will definitely order again, but will purchase direct from the seller's website to save about $30.

I ordered 5 pounds of their gyro cut meat. Cost me about $100 including shipping but I figured that it would last a while. It came a few days later in a box marked "Keep Frozen" in big letters. I opened it immediately and found a very nice styrofoam container containing a bag with five pounds of barely chilled pre-cooked meat. It seemed cool enough to take a chance and I heated it and tasted it. Pretty good, like most gyro meats you can get in a restaurant or food court (I suspect they are all made at the same place). I was asked to rate it and I mentioned that it arrived completely defrosted and nearly room temp. I was not asking for anything and did not initiate the rating. Kronos responded that they packed it in dry ice and it was delivered within 24 hours so it could not have defrosted. I hate it when someone tells me that a clear fact is impossible to have occurred. Would have been happy if they had just said "Sorry, please try us again." As you can guess, I will not try them ever again.

For 5 pounds, you get a lot of meat and it tastes great better than most restaurants. I've eaten at. I highly recommend it.

First off, the flavor is certainly not bad, but definitely not the gyro meat I grew up with at my local gyro joint. That is obviously subjective, and my opinion, so take that at face value. I agree with one of the other reviews that it is on the bland side for something as iconic as gyro meat. I wish it had a little more seasoning. On to shipping. Several of the other reviews on this product state that it came completely thawed or even room temperature, such that they were afraid to consume it. For the purchase I made, the seller gave two day shipping. I had no say-so in this when I purchased the product, as there was no option to overnight it. This is a somewhat questionable practice in my opinion. I got lucky, in that mine actually arrived in two days. As you can see from the picture, it still had a little frost on the slices from the interior of the pack, but the edges were cold, technically, but borderline, not refrigerated. It came in a cold wrap, but no ice packs or dry ice. If this had been delayed by a day, I would imagine the entire pack would have been room temperature, and I probably would have thrown the whole thing away without risking it. I feel like I just got lucky that it arrived on schedule. Definitely something to keep in mind for a future purchase. Mine came in a bulk bag of five pounds, rather than five individual, one pound packs. Several reviews on here seemed to comaim about that. That wasn't a big issue for me. I just divided it up in Food Saver bags and vacuum sealed them for freezer storage. Value-wise, it is five pounds for a hundred bucks. Doing the math, if you load up a gyro with four ounces, which would be a huge gyro, that is twenty gyros. That is about 5 bucks per gyro, then factor in whatever a pita costs and other toppings. Other than the potential shipping issue, and not having the option to pay for overnight shipping for a perishable food product, it is not that bad. I wish it had a touch more flavor, but that is merely my opinion.

Truly authentic! This is my second order I've placed. It's a little expensive but way worth the cost.

The meat was delicious but the dry ice was totally melted on arrival. It was still cold but if it had been a day later it might have spoiled
