Total Rip Off

This review is not about the product which has always delivered when it comes to killing rats and mice, it's about those who somehow got their hands on some after d-Con stopped selling it and now are real happy to mark it up 400-500% and stick it to those that know it works. It's beyond price gouging, it's a rip off. After all, it's rat poison not fine art.

Price Gouging Rip-Off, but it's the ONLY THING THAT WORKS for Rat Control.

Price gouging Rip-Off, but it's the only thing that works to effectively kill rats. In 2014 the EPA ordered D-CON to take this product off the market and reformulate it so it wasn't a danger to children and pets. I'm a big supporter of the EPA. I believe in Climate Change science. However this product was the only reliably effective product to kill rats. What has happened:D-CON withdrew the product from the American market, but never replaced it with an effective substitute. Instead they continue to make it and market it to countries like Mexico and others in its original formula out of the reach of the EPA. As a result it gets imported and resold on the American market at 10 times the price. The EPA stipulated that existing stocks on shelves could still be sold until depleted. Since it's still made and sold to foreign countries like Mexico, what you're buying is the continuing manufactured stocks sold in those countries. If you choose to buy it, you'll see most information is in Spanish on the box.Fortunately, or depending on your point of view, unfortunately, Amazon supports this practice of illegal marketing and price gouging knowingly or unknowingly, still they allow it to be sold. The last boxes I bought were $80.00 a box. Now they are $100.00 a box as a prime member price.I have two dogs. I know how poisonous this product is and can be dangerous to my dogs who I dearly love and protect. I make sure the treys of poison are nowhere they might get to them.I don't know what the solution is, but this is the same affect of making many drugs illegal has had. The drugs are still brought into the country, but the prices are driven up by the illegality. Most people who need and buy this poison know the dangers to children and pets and, like me, take the proper precautions to protect children and pets. Unfortunately there are always careless users of all toxic substances, but how many remain on the market? Rats themselves are a danger to adults, children, and pets.I would put this poison out regularly to control the vermin. Now at this outrageous price I have to treat it like gold and use it very sparingly waiting until I either see rats and mice, or their droppings.I have tried the other poisons and traps. None of them work. Amazon is a huge company now and could take on the problem, but instead they buy Whole Foods and plan spaceships to Mars.

A poetic end for my furry friend...

I am lying in bed right now and at this moment can smell the sweet scent of decaying mouse/rat in my wall. Now, don't mistake this as being negative. To the contrary, I am satisfied with the olfactory reminder of what once kept me up at night with his relentless, psychotic chattering along my bedroom wall. Fare the well my rodent nemesis; it's finally time for me to get some shut eye. Rest in pieces you furry bastard.

Consumers Should Have a Choice

This is the most effective product ever produced to get rid of mice and rats. The EPA got their hands on it early in 2016 and have altered the formula so that the d-CON currently on the market is not nearly as effective. The consumer should be given a choice. If you don't have children or pets and live in a rural area, why not make it available? I got the last box listed on Amazon.Just FYI. When petroleum got so expensive a few years ago, manufacturers of electrical wiring for cars switched from petroleum to cooking oil for he plastic insulation for car wires. Well, guess what? Rats and mice love the new cooking oil formula. My mom (who lives on a ranch) has had to have all the wiring replaced in her car twice because they devoured it. We need the original d-CONN formula to combat this problem.

From a farmer who has seen how bad rodent problems can really get! Sadly, environmentalists got this product banned:(

I'm a farmer who in a rural area who has dealt with rodent control for 40 years. And being on a farm I have seen how out-of-control mice problems can get! Even with my farm cats around, house mice and rats can become serious pests! I have personally seen it happen! The worst situations (or best, if you're a mouse!) are closed sheds where machinery is stored. Especially where they know the cats can't get at them. I have seen situations where mice have completely stripped the insulation off the entire electrical wiring system of a large harvesting machine. I have seen them literally gut a stored car, tearing up the upholstery and destroying wiring. They will crawl into the exhaust systems of engines and build nests in the cylinders. And probably the worse with house mice is the awful mess they leave. A mouse will urinate wherever it goes (it's how they find their way around, I am told). One mouse can leave droppings everywhere. Multiply that by dozens and it gets gross fast! And if you want to get an idea how much and quickly mice can multiply, just do a Youtube search for "Australian mouse plague" to find out.Sadly, this great product is about to become unavailable. Some environmentalist groups claimed it was causing harm to owls or something, and got it banned. Check out earthjustice.org, one of these groups that got the product banned. Their advice for mouse control? "Build more owl boxes to encourage natural predation". What a load of BS! How are owl boxes going to control mice in a closed shed? These are folks who have never had to deal with true pest problems up close and personal. For myself, I have never laid bait trays out in the open where birds can get at it. And I think the vast majority of people who use the product exercise appropriate care not to poison other creatures.I have tried some of the "alternative" and "safe" products that are supposed to replace d-con. They are largely ineffective. Sticky boards might help somewhat in confined situations if you know where the mice are running.
