Final crimps and resizes case to factory specs.
I use this die in conjunction with a Redding competition seating die to produce the best and accurate ammunition for my competition shooting firearms. The Lee FCD will produce cartridges to SAMMI spec that will fit any case gauge perfectly and always passes the "Plunk" test if you set up the press correctly. Some final crimp dies only reshape the top of the case after bullet seating however the Lee FCD has a carbide sleeve / ring that puts a final factory crimp on the case and resizes the entire cartridge for outstanding results. Works perfectly.

Solved my bulges case problems.
Ordered under my wife's account. I've been roloading rifle cartridges over 50 years but just started reloading 9mm Luger during the last year. Using mixed range brass I've been plagued by bulges case problems. Tried everything I could think of but no improvement. Heard about this die and now every load passes the plunk test. So easy to use. Thread the die in to contact the press ram, thread the crimper to the crimp you want you are done. Have not had any problems with die shifting. I used the tool made to tighten the Lee lock ring. Will be buying for more cartridges. Best money I 've ever spent on reloading equipment in years. Cheap fix for a real pain in the butt! Thank you Lee!

A MUST HAVE!!
I don't like to use the word 'brilliant' very often, but this die is brilliantly designed. It's a very simple install; just screw the die body into the tool head until it touches the shell plate with the ram in the up position, run the adjustment nut out most of the way, then put a loaded cartridge that needs crimping into the ram and run it into the die at the top of the stroke and screw down the adjustment nut until it just touches the cartridge, back out the cartridge and tighten the nut one full turn for a solid factory crimp! The instructions say a 1/2 turn, but you really need a full turn, no more, no less. It makes the most consistent and perfect crimp on every case which then gauges and chambers perfectly. The problem with the Dillon die is that it will cause a case bulge if it's screwed down even a little too far and is much more difficult to adjust. When I go to reload 40 S&W, 10mm, and 45 ACP, I'm going to use this as my crimping die! There was no issue with the quality of the machining of the parts of the die--like other reviewers had mentioned, mine had mirror surfaces on all the contact areas!

Does it move!! Yes it does!
This sizer works very well and has tremendous adjustability. BUT, Lee says it won't move and goes so far as saying it can't move but! it does. The sizer has a lock ring for the die but not for the adjuster all it has is an "O-ring to hold the adjustment. I set the die up and then scribed a locator line on the top of the adjuster. Using a medium crimp I sized 200 rounds of 9mm and the adjuster did move about an 1/16 inch. Not real bad but I wonder? My fix was to set it where I wanted and put a small amount of medium Loctite around the top of the sizer threads and this seems to working so far.

Perfect crimp.
I used to use a taper crimp on straight wall pistol bullets and had trouble getting the crimp โjust rightโ. Too often there was not enough crimp or commonly the taper crimp was too aggressive and would even bulge the case mouth. This Lee factory crimp eliminates both of these issues. Perfect crimp every time.

Lee FCD is your friend.
This die wins the Battle of the Bulge. I cannot resist 9mm brass lying on the ground at the range. Who knows what the origins of that fired brass may be? As a result some it will have a slight bulge near the base of the case after itโs been reloaded. Some will be worse than others. Anything that stands proud in my Hundo case gauge gets tossed in the reject bin. I run the rejects through the Lee FCD as a separate step. They then become usable. When I shoot these reclaimed cases though at the range, they get tossed in the trash. I figure theyโve been stretched and weakened. Time for them to retire. I may be cheap, but not that cheap. 9mm brass is plentiful. The FCD saves me from having to pull the bullets from the bulged cases in an effort to salvage components. Itโs much easier to run cases through the FCD. I load on a Dillon 650 with Dillon dies which donโt size the case all the way to the bottom of the case from what I understand. This is the price to be paid for a smooth reloading cycle. I donโt crimp with this die as the cases donโt need to be taper crimped again IMHO. All in all, Iโd recommend this die. It works as advertised.

Absolute best value for dollar you'll ever find for a crimp die. Built like a tank, works perfectly and will last a lifetime.
