These are rubber bands. Not elastics. They can be wrapped multiple times to hold plaits/braids snug. They do not easily break so I use the blade of scissors like a knife, sliding it across the rubber bands, to cut them out of my hair.

Paid $6 for 1,000 rubber bands. They are high quality. I had put them on my child’s hair to keep beads in their braids she’s had them for a few weeks and none have broke or came off. I do soak mine in castor oil before I put them onto my child’s hair if that matters.
