The Ordinary Retinol 0.5% in Squalane, Intermediate Retinol Serum for the Face That Is Anti-Aging and Skin Smoothing, 1 Fl Oz

I bought this as part of an effort to actually start taking care of my skin in my 20s—mainly because I’m active, sweat a lot, and figured I should be doing more than just washing my face. Why I Chose This One: I did some research and saw that The Ordinary is good for beginners and not overpriced. This 0.5% version is a solid middle ground—not too weak, not too strong. I’ve been using it nightly for a months then will upgrade to the next strength. Texture & Feel: It’s an oil-based serum (squalane), so it feels a little greasy going on, but absorbs in a few minutes. I usually follow it up with a moisturizer cream. It doesn’t sting or feel harsh, which I was worried about. What It’s Doing: Definitely noticed my skin looks smoother, especially on my forehead and around my mouth. A few small acne scars have started fading, and overall I just look more “awake.” I still get the occasional breakout from trigger foods like dairy, but they go away quickly. Cautions: Don’t use it every night right away. Start slow. Use sunscreen during the day (seriously).

I love this product I didn't realize I'm supposed to refrigerate it after opening so I'm not sure if the last month's use of this product for me was super effective since it was probably not tbat potent anymore but the first couple months of using it I've noticed a really big change in my skin my skin is more moisturized and I actually get a lot of compliments on my skin then I did before using the product I think the squalene does keep it moisturized and I think it really does keep wrinkles from forming I really think it's important to use these kind of products so you can avoid getting wrinkles in the future. I use it at night maybe 2-3 times a week.

This product is a very good product but I would suggest if your first time at it go for the lowest retinol. It was a little rough on my skin when I first used it and added it to a light oil on my skin. It is definitely a retinol and I'm sure it works really good if you're able to handle a 0.5% I'm going to go ahead and weaken the formula a little bit and start with every 3 days, which is what I should have done the first time. It is a good product and a good price on Amazon. And it does get rid of age spots, yay! So yes, I will use this but I do recommend that if you have sensitive skin, or do not a retinol at this time, start "slow and low" 😁 It definitely will give you results in beautifying your skin.

I put it on a little too thick at first. At night. It stayed oily for quite a while. After 15 minutes, I spread it out some more. Slight burning. My face looked amazing the next morning. Be sure to wear sunscreen! 😎 Wait for it to fully dry before going to bed.

UPDATE: Been using this product abour a month now. I'm surprised that this product has left my skin soft & not greasy despite my oily skin & tbe peoducts oily texture. I got tbe .5 dose & it seems to be working great. I accidentally bought 2 bottles but will definately be keeping it. Good bargain for the price. I'm not exactly sure how I feel about this as I've only used it one nite so far. It's a bit more greasy/oilier than I expected. I already have naturally oily skin. It's been a while since I used a retinol product and the last concentration I used was the .25. I decided to go with the 0.5 and surprisingly didn't get red or have any sensitivities. I will try this out for a few days more before I decide to keep it or return it.

I had a large milia on my cheek that I could not get rid of. They are also known as milk spots. They are white and they look like whiteheads but you cannot pop them. Very aggravating. I tried numerous things but nothing worked until I tried this amazing serum! Not only did it get rid of the milia within 2 weeks, but all of my skin has been glowing and radiant ever since I started using it. The smell is not overpowering, texture of the oil is light and smooth, and it's like giving your thirsty skin a nice, cool drink everyday. I've also noticed it has helped with the fine lines around my eyes and some of the deeper ones on my forehead. I'm currently using it on my neck and chest to try to improve those problem areas as well. I highly recommend this product!

Swear this works! So wish I took before and after! I have paired this with Matrixyl, argeline facial moisturizer products also from Ordinary! I seen results within 1 week! 3 weeks in was noticeable to others! I will be ordering and using more Ordinary products! Wish I would have taken before and after pics but I never thought to do so. Feels nice! No irritation whatsoever noted from using these products! Good value for the money! Nice amount of product for the price!

This is my fav skincare line. This oil glides on easily and only takes a little. It soaks in quickly and doesn’t leave my face feeling or looking like a grease ball. I use it every other night and feel like it’s made a noticeable difference.

Package was open and bottle only filled down to 3 quarters. It feels too light on the skin for it to be actual retinol Sadly I think its a dupe. Douglas sells this bottle for half the price!!!

I haven't experienced any redness, tingling or rashes, it seems to be very gentle and perfect for beginners.
