One planet with 3 suns coming to attack.
As scfi by a Chinese author this book is unique and new.But it being a translation is slow and a little confusing with all the Chinese names for the first 100 pages or so .But later it evolves into a chilling concept of plausible extraterrestrial contact from another planet in the alpha centauri system .And the chilling concept that the superior civilization will be coming in 450 years and invade Earth and some earthlings prepare to collaborate with them makes a new fearsome concept and makes us go on.The background of red brigades and communist administration is also new though the style is ordinary and lacks the excellence of a major work .But winning award is no meanthing in scfi and in the end I liked it and am eager to read the next part. That ofcourse is success enough for the writer and his work which will encompass the whole hundreds of years of future with political and scientific ramifications with this intriguing plot.Slow but good .One can't but remember the short story of Asimov's Nightfall which describes a planet with 6 Suns and apocalypse during their eclipse.

Best that sci-fi can offer!!
The three body problem trilogy by Cixin Liu is the greatest science fiction story Iโve ever read. It is astonishing how accurately Liu has been able to capture that ineffable feeling that you get, if youโve ever looked up at the night sky and wondered about the cosmos and our place in it. The scale of this story is beyond comprehension and is filled with immense grandeur, incredible ideas, mind boggling revelations, sheer terror and deep existential dread. The level of shock and awe that some sequences in these books conjure is a thing I havenโt experienced before.

The first priority is to guarantee the existence of the human race and their comfortable life. Everything else is secondary
I came across this book when I was listening to Tor podcast, when they were airing episode regarding sci fi nominations for Hugo's. Also reading a completely new author always excites me, and the top cherry was I got this book way too cheap on amazon. Three body problem although has same theme as the movie Independence day but it focuses more on how humans will react to such a situation. Some of the strong points of book are1.It is set in Chinese cultural revolution background.2.The game of three body. Some of the weaker points of book are1.Hard to remember all the characters names.2.Flat character development.Let me expand on strong points of the book1.It is set in Chinese cultural revolution background. The book basically starts when the red revolution in China is at its zenith, but unfortunately the red guards have divided themselves into factions and have started infighting. As is always the case the common people are the ones who are suffering the most in such a case. The red guards are especially targeting intellectuals whom they are blaming for teaching capitalist science.Einstein is a reactionary academic authority. He would serve any master who dangled money in front of him. He even went to the American Imperialists and helped them build the atom bomb! To develop a revolutionary science, we must overthrow the black banner of capitalism represented by the theory of relativity. One of the professors of physics falls prey to this madness, and his daughter Ye Wenjie gets devastated. Although being a physicist herself she is sent by the government to work with workers who are in charge of cutting a large area of forests in order to make way for farming. She notices the senseless destruction of a very old forest and slowly starts realizing that human beings are completely destroying everything for their own selfish needs. These are the rules of the game of civilization: The first priority is to guarantee the existence of the human race and their comfortable life. Everything else is secondary.Due to her background in physics she gets deputed to a secret project called as Red coast where in the Chinese government is sending signals in outer space in order to contact any extraterrestrial life. One day by fluke she receives an signal from an extraterrestrial life, and she takes her revenge on humanity by giving away earth's co-ordinates.Ye had no desire for revenge. Back at Red Coast Base, on that morning of the transmission, she had gotten revenge against the entire human race, including those Red Guards. But she wanted to hear these murderers repent, wanted to see even a hint of the return of humanity.2.The game of three body.We switch back to present where in a nano material researcher Wang Miao is called by police to help investigate deaths in scientific community. During the course of investigation he comes across the game Three body problem. Once he starts exploring the game we come to know how the the game is connected to contact with extraterrestrials.Although the book is an exciting read but it definitely suffers from below weak points1.Hard to remember all the characters names.Although this can be classified as my issue alone while reading the book, but it was terribly difficult to make out all the different characters in this book as their names sound so similar to each other.2.Flat character development. This book is definitely not a character driven book, but it is an plot driven book where in author just uses the characters at hand to forward the plot of the book. Except the character Ye Wenjie I was not able to connect to any of the characters.I am giving this book 4/5 stars and I am definitely excited to read the next book in series.

Science-struck
Hard hitting SCIENCE. That forms the base of this book , if you are someone who enjoy reading popular science or in the field itself you'll love the build up in this book ,the fiction part has a solid base on scientific facts , the author doesn't subvert on the plot for the sake of advancement into the frictional part rather takes his time to actually establish the plot via the character conversations and self analysis , the characters could've been a better though , more people would've like it then , never the less I thoroughly enjoyed it , read it in two days would happily recommend it to anyone looking for some solid sci-fi reading

Long Live the bugs!
Mindblowing! Finished reading the first part of this trilogy in a single sitting. (Something which I rarely do. )It compares reaching out to aliens in outerspace to digging our own graves. The highest respect a civilization can receive is when it thinks that the other needs to be eliminated. Kind of nihilism. Shrouded in hope.Highlights the false hopes and the naviety of good times. Only to be shredded when it hits the rock of reality. And another point to note --- In this world stage there is a complete lack of any Indian characters. A deliberate blind spot. ??

Boring for a science enthusiast
Based on my reading history, ChatGPT recommended this book, saying that it was based on science. However, it turned out to contain a lot of fictional and imaginary science.
