A Must-Have Sound Machine — 8 Years Strong and Still the Best!
We’ve owned this sound machine for about 8 years now, and I can honestly say it has been one of the most worthwhile purchases for our family. Even after all this time, our kids still love it and rely on it every night. That kind of reliability is rare, especially when you compare it to some of the more “trendy” brands we’ve tried along the way. We’ve owned a Hatch and several other well-known sound machines, but honestly, none of them held up. The sounds weren’t clean or crisp, and more often than not, the machines would disconnect or shut off without warning. If you’ve ever had that happen in the middle of the night, you know how disruptive it is — silence that suddenly wakes kids who were sleeping peacefully. This machine has never failed us that way. It’s dependable, consistent, and built to last. The sound quality is where it really shines. The tones are clear, natural, and soothing — not tinny or artificial like some other brands. It creates a truly calming environment that helps everyone relax. We’ve used it through thunderstorms, Fourth of July fireworks, holiday gatherings, loud neighborhood parties, and even movie nights when the house gets a little too rowdy. It never disappoints. When we travel to the mountains for a quiet getaway, it’s the first thing we pack. It turns any space into a peaceful sleep environment. Another thoughtful detail is the night light. It’s just bright enough to provide comfort for little ones, but never overpowering or disruptive. It’s the perfect balance — enough glow to ease nighttime worries, but still soft enough to encourage sleep. After nearly a decade of daily use, I’m impressed by how durable and reliable this machine is. It has been dropped, moved around, packed in bags, and used nonstop — and it still works as beautifully as the day we bought it. It doesn’t feel like a gadget you’ll need to replace in a year or two. This is an investment that pays off many times over. ⸻ ✅ Why We Recommend It: • 8 years of consistent, reliable use • Crisp, clean, soothing sounds that don’t cut out • Perfect for kids, adults, and travel • Blocks noise from thunderstorms, fireworks, parties, and more • Gentle night light that’s not too bright • Durable, long-lasting build ⸻ 🎯 Final Thoughts If you’re tired of overpriced machines that promise a lot but fail in the most important ways, this one is the answer. It’s reliable, long-lasting, beautifully designed, and creates the perfect atmosphere for rest — no matter the situation. I truly can’t imagine our home without it. After 8 years, it still runs like new, and that alone speaks volumes about its quality. Highly, highly recommend to any parent, traveler, or light sleeper looking for peace of mind and a sound night’s sleep. This is one purchase you won’t regret.

Babies and kids love it!
I can’t say enough good things about the Dreamegg D1 Sound Machine! We purchased our first unit back in 2021, and it has been an absolute game-changer for our family. We use it every night, and it's even left on throughout the day in our baby’s room. The fact that it has held up beautifully over time is a testament to its quality. The variety of 24 high-fidelity sounds is impressive, and we love that we can customize it to suit our baby's needs. From soothing white noise to gentle lullabies, there's something for every mood. The night light feature is an added bonus, providing just the right amount of illumination without being too bright. Recently, we decided to buy a second Dreamegg D1 for another room, and it works just as wonderfully as the first. The timer and memory feature are incredibly convenient, allowing us to set it and forget it while still maintaining the perfect sleep environment. Overall, I highly recommend the Dreamegg D1 Sound Machine for anyone looking to improve their sleep quality, whether for babies or adults. It’s been a fantastic investment for our home, and we couldn’t be happier!

Lifesaver
This has been a lifesaver! I recently moved into a beautiful home, but the neighbors love to play loud music often in the middle of the night. This truly has been amazing. Several of the fan sounds or the white noise sounds drown it out and lull me to sleep. It’s perfect.

Dreaming with the Dreamegg
Most people are likely unaware that a part of the population suffers from a constant ringing in their ears, usually caused by destruction of the tiny hair cells in the middle ear. This can be caused by infections, toxins, or loud noises like gun shots or rock concerts. On top of a number of ear infections suffered as a child, I was poisoned by cobalt from an ill-conceived hip implant about nine years ago. Instead of going quiet when they are destroyed, the hair cell anchors begin to emit a constant tone. The effect on the sufferer can range from minor nuisance to unrelenting torture, depending on the severity to the injury. I have what I suspect is a moderate case. For me, it is worst in the stillness of night. The constant ringing can actually interfere with sleep. Many sufferers, including many who don't even recognize what they are suffering from will turn on a fan at night to mask the ringing. I have done this most of my life. A few years ago, anticipating a cruise in Europe, I was looking for ways to provide this 'white noise' without having to pack a bulky fan that would be useless because of its need for standard American voltage. I knew something of white noise generators, so I began to search. I found a spiffy unit that cost more than twice the current price of the Dreamegg. It looks like a little a little radio, with lots of knobs and buttons. Thus did I learn of the advantages of the sound generator over the fan. It uses much less power, is more compact, and won't chill you if you don't need it. The Dreamegg D1 has just become available. Looking for a more compact unit that was also easier to travel with, I got myself one. I am extremely happy with this unit! First, the size, look and feel of it. It is round, smooth and compact; though small it feels substantial in your hand, firm, not flimsy. All controls are incorporated into the seamless top panel. Clearly labeled, they can be located simply by feel as the switches are beneath indentations in the panel. The controls encircle a pleasant night light; something that my more expensive unit lacks. The nightlight is adjustable; either constant, or "breathing mode" which I haven't tried out yet. The sound options are impressive. You can select between nature sounds, white noise and fan sounds, and each of those categories have seven options! Count 'em, seven! I like that number. The nature sounds are pleasant; musical. The white noise and fan sounds come in different keys and textures and you're certain to find one that pleases your ears. The volume can be adjusted from whisper quiet to too loud, and by that I mean that I can't imagine that this machine will disappoint anyone by being too quiet to satisfy their needs. I routinely climb into bed after turning off the light, then reach up and turn on my sound machine. When I first unwrapped this beauty, I imagined that I would need to glue a bump to the on/off switch to find it easily in the dark but here's the thing: The Dreamegg is heavy enough and sits firmly enough on the bedside stand that it is not easily moved, so the on/off button remains at the two-o'clock position consistently; easy to locate. For my travel needs, the unit is very compact and occupies only a small corner of my suitcase. The power cord plugs into a USB port, so it can be easily supplied by a small USB/AC adapter, or plugged directly into a USB port which can be found in most hotel rooms these days. I assume USB ports in Europe are the same as American ones, so you encounter no problems coping with the voltage difference. I cannot address durability yet. That requires time. This attractive unit would incorporate harmoniously into a nursery and though the instructions caution you to keep it dry, it looks like it is likely water resistant to some extent. I have yet to find anything to complain about with this unit and am very happy with this purchase.

Great sound!
Love this! The sound is much clearer and nicer than my old sound machine. It helped me sleep and is super relaxing. It has many different sounds to choose from, and it looks nice in my room. Very ease to use and change sounds. I'm really pleased with this item. I absolutely would buy it again.

Great, but the voice announcement every time takes one star off
I like it, a lot of noise options. We prefer the white noise mode, the timing setting is really handy. A little bizarre that it announces the mode every time you turn it on so be careful if it you use it for kids that could be woken by a voice if you don’t turn it on prior to outing them to bed. Maybe you can turn that off but I have t figured it out yet.

This thing is a life saver!
I have been thinking about what to write in this review since I got it because it such a great product for so many reasons. I would really recommend it. I have had chronic insomnia for at least 25 years. Then I developed a nervous system disorder and now my nervous system does not shut off and it’s very difficult to sleep. If I do fall asleep, the slightest thing wakes me up and jars me just enough that I cannot fall asleep for hours if at all again that night. I cannot nap during the day and so if my sleep is ruined during the night I can’t make it up during the day. On top of this I am an extremely light sleeper. I swear if a mouse farts in the Barn it wakes me up. I have had to sleep with a fan on for my entire adult life. This is really a problem in the winter and in small bedrooms. Recently I moved in with someone with small children who scream a lot. The screaming really sets me on edge and stresses me out and increases my anxiety. Which then makes sleeping harder, etc etc. aside from all that I also am an introvert and need alone time just to myself. I love my family but these are the things I need. This thing is WONDERFUL and exactly what I needed!! It goes loud. Loud enough for what I need, but most of the time it’s on less than half volumn. I don’t know if it would drown out the rave next door type sound, but it covers a lot. I still hear percussive sounds but they aren’t as jarring either. I have also been sleeping deeper than usual. It creates a peaceful little cocoon so that I can relax and have the best chance at sleeping. The volumn goes from very quiet to very loud so it’s easy to find the best setting for my needs. Now the sounds themselves. I am very picky about my “fan” noises. I did not think the fan sounds sounded authentic, but they were all pretty nice sounds and no breaks, they were continuous sound. But because none sounded like my actual fan, I couldn’t use them. They were nice though, and I think they would work for most people. The white noise sounds were also great and I found one that lulled me right into being relaxed enough to sleep. It’s perfect and my go to setting now. The other sounds like chirping birds and rain were also pleasant and for someone who just needed a little help relaxing or refocusing at bedtime those are nice too. I just didn’t find them to be constant-every-second coverage that I need. But there are so many sounds total that there should be something for everyone. There is also a nice soft glow night light IF you want it, or it has a fade in and out or completely off. I haven’t used the timer functions because I need my sound to run solid till I get up or to drown out the outside world. I did try the time function though and it seemed easy, you tap it and it shows you 30,60 or 90 minutes. It’s also small and so can be put into my suitcase and also takes up little room on my nightstand. The buttons are also slightly depressed so you can tell where the beginning is and count over the number of depressions till you find the one you want to change without having to lift your head to look. I LOVE this machine and don’t know what took me so long to buy it. It works exactly how I need it to. I don’t think I can ever live without it again! I never thought I could find something to replace my fan but this product filled the bill. I would recommend it.

A high pitched hum plays when light is on, waking baby
4/27/19 EDIT: The company followed through on their promise to send me one of the updated models. The model number has not changed, and I don't see any way to tell the earlier model apart from the update, which is unfortunate. However, the humming problem described in my below review is not present in the updated model DreamEgg sent. As a result (and due to stellar customer service), I'm updating my rating to five stars. Original review: The sound features of this white noise machine work very well. There is no detectable loop on any of the sounds as far as I can tell, and the ability to set a timer (30, 60, 90) or let it run indefinitely is great for sleep training our little girl. Trouble is, the nightlight feature of this unit is really unusable due to a high pitched humming sound that plays with the white noise if the light is on. There is also a physical vibration that begins in the unit when the light is turned on, which persists until the light is turned off. For the life of me I cannot figure out why this is designed this way, as LED lights are the most energy efficient lighting option and require too little energy to produce an auditory hum. I worry that the lights used in this unit *aren't* LEDs and may pose a safety risk, though I haven't yet noticed the unit get warm or hot. That hum, though, is high pitched and disrupts the white noise sound enough to wake me, my wife, and the baby. It's not super loud but stands out due to the high pitch. And it's bloody annoying. We do not and will not use the light feature for this reason, which is unfortunate because the light is otherwise useful for seeing the buttons in the dark. Three stars for the essentially useless light. I'd have paid a bit more for a functional light that doesn't wake the baby. Edit 3/2/19: Now I hear the high pitched hum persistently when the unit is turned off in addition to when the light is on. I will return and exhange for a new one because this might be a hardware defect. A hum like this can be caused by bad wiring in the product (though in my experience that's only at higher voltages). I have no idea what could be causing this and can only hope it's a defect because the unit is otherwise great. Will update after exchange. Edit 3/19/19: The manufacturer reached out to me in response to this review and issued me a replacemeny device. The replacement has the same problem as both my original unit and the exchange I requested from Amazon. The company has told me that they will be releasing a new version of this product sometime around April 2019, and they claim to have solved this problem in that design. Time will tell! They did offer to send me a replacement unit of the new model when it release, so A+ customer service for the manufacturer. I'll follow up on this review if they follow through.
