The wooden disk is finished on the top side making it easy to use and clean. The size is perfect for my rotis to cook in my smaller cast iron pan. Used with a wire roaster I am now a professional at making flat bread. the feet on the disk keep it off the work surface at just the right height. I have no trouble with it tipping like in other reviews. The ides of using the rolling pin and disk together is so my can apply even pressure as you roll,thus keeping the disk from tipping.The rolling pin does have some splinters on the handle from production but nothing a little sand paper could't fix. I tend to not use the left handle. I just put my hand directly on the pin and use the right handle to guide it. Would recommend

I found this very helpful. After trying to make chapatti's with my marble rolling pin- then my regular wood rolling pin, I was getting ready to give up. Everything was poorly shaped and of very uneven textures. So, I invested in this and the chapattis are coming out much better. The wood rolling surface helps me keep the round shape in view and is easy to roll on without sticking. The rolling pin is perfect for the weight distribution needed to make these chapattis. Now, it is almost effortless and they are coming out better each time.

It's exactly the kind of roti maker I used to use in India. The wood quality isn't great and I know that the shiny surface will wear off. In fact, I strongly recommend scraping and washing the shiny surface off the rolling pin. It might be some cheap lacquer and I don't want it in my food. The base is sturdy; doesn't rock or make any noise while rolling the roti. I read a few reviews that complained about the rocky base. Here's a protip: the base has three "legs." For the most stable position, keep one leg (the apex) facing you and the other two away from you. The base will not slip or slide or make noise. Try it!

This is a horrible item. The coating on it is cheap and cracked and peeing off. It will probably peel off into your food if it is not sanded down before use. I would recommend getting a different brand. This was a huge waste of money. I wish that I could get a replacement. I do not see an option to do so though. I wish that I had not wasted m money thinking this was a decent product. There is a bend in the middle of the board and it makes it impossible to keep the roti stand steady. Alo with the rolling pin flaking off you have to be careful as well.

Built quality is good. Not too light which is very important or else the chakla keeps shifting which can be frustrating. Well rounded and smooth surface. Good buy.

We use this for chapati preparation.Its very useful and strong to use.
