No Sumsung Warranty
I was given one of these as a present a couple of years ago and it has just failed. I contacted Samsung to find out what warranty the item is covered by. They informed me that Samsung do not provide a warranty for the item as it is considered an electronic part, not a Samsung branded part. I have included below pert of their reply; Samsung OEM SSDs, such as PM981 and PM883 models, are sold by Samsung Semiconductor Europe GmbH. OEMs SSDs are solely intended to be used by OEMs and system integrators for integration into final goods, such as PCs and servers, where the warranty would be provided by the OEM or system integrator for the final product. Thus Samsung warranty (if any) is only for direct B2B customers and is subject to the agreements Samsung and the company have in place. Some distributors and resellers may offer Samsung OEM SSDs in B2C channels, such as online stores, without any authorization or support from Samsung. In such cases the distributor or reseller is solely responsible for any and all customer support, including warranty claims.
