Holding a heavy Rode mic
This is my second Hercules purchase after first getting the adjustable ukulele stand and loving it. I'm using this boom stand to hold a big heavy Rode condenser mic in a complicated setup for online teaching. Wish I'd bought it sooner instead of just dealing with my annoying previous setup for so long. As long as the feet are positioned properly, the mic and stand are stable with absolutely no sagging of the boom arm, even though I have it extended pretty far and the mic is hefty. Yet, the whole thing is light and easy to move around or maneuver. Very pleased.

Missing part
didn't come with accessories to hold the mike so it was not useful.

Tripod retainer and locking mechanism broken after 8 months
Purchased in April 2023. By December 2023, the tripod retainer and locking mechanism broke. Stand is now rubbish. As return window closed in May, I do not consider this a very sturdy purchase

It's an ok stand. Falls apart all the time, but never in a catastrophic way.
I've bought 6 of these and have used them regularly for a few years and only have a few complaints. - kinda top heavy. - (Pic 1) Instead of the usual 5/8th thread clip mount, uses a 3/8th with a 5/8 adapter. It's cool if you want to use it with an e604 or similar mic with the smaller mount, but the adapters get stuck in the mic clips 100% of the time. Which really sucks if you change clips alot, especially live. I ended up just buying several extra adapters and clips. Not an expected expense but became a necessary one. On the bright side, I often use these as portable stands for slimpar lights. They fit over the 3/8 thread and you use the 5/8 adapter to lock it in. Works seriously great. - (Pic 2) - Instead of a screw mount, the boom head clamps onto the post. This generally gets loose to the point where the stand falls apart ALL the time after just a couple gigs. I recommend supergluing it together. Such a terrible design. I really like the single knob boom head though. It's a but clunky but great really. Much more reliable than the onstage heads. - (Pic 3) The bottom legs are held in place by plastic. Sometimes the tripod can become separated from the plastic holder but gravity holds it. I've not had any catastrophic problems with it but you could probably break it easily if you're not careful. All in all, it's a good stand. Great for the money. It sucks in many ways but it's cheap. What's good is you can work around the ways it sucks and use it for a very long time. Assuming you have the Onstage MS7701C open in another tab, go ahead and close it and buy this. I've used onstage everything at so many venues, and pretty much all of them are broken or stripped in some unreparable way. Worst is the mic clip threads tend to separate and free spin after a while, making the stand almost useless. At least you can fix the hercules when it breaks.

Great mic stand for home studio
I bought this to use in our small home studio. It will be used with a Shure SM57 mic for vocal and amp recording. Seems stable and with the mice boom fully extended with the SM57 it seems very stable. I works very well for my needs and should last for years to come.

Perfect fit for an unusual application
My glockenspiel has a shaft that went into a stand that was never available after I bought the glockenspiel in a pawn shop. I was looking for a stand and the boom arm of the stand is the exact diameter for the glockenspiel shaft. It's a perfect fit and makes for a very stable stand.

Both stands broke
I bought two of these for use at our church. Unfortunately both of the twist clutches broke by separating from the lower section. After inspecting to see what happened I found that there is just a small plastic tab that holds the twist clutch in place. Not very sturdy.

This is an excellent product. Well constructed that is typical for the Hercules product line. This particular model has a very good price point. I am using a Rode NT1 mic that is reasonably heavy and it hold the mic well. even at 80% extension of the boom arm. The weighted boom end should have a metal clip so that some users who use the full boom extension can add a small nylon bag with a counterweight for added security. As with any mic setup, it is preferable that you position one of the legs of the stand based directly under the mic weight for added assurance against tipping. I have 2 minor negatives . 1) the legs do not lock in place so you have to b e mindful that they are in position before adding you mic . 2) it would be nice if the boom telescoped so you could get another 2 feet or so in certain applications where needed. These features of course come in a m ic stand that costs about twice the price. For the price point they did a great job here and I will give them a full 5 stars. ... Enjoy this purchase ... Aaron
