"The best physics books are the ones kids will actually read." AP Physics 1 Essentials is an easy-to-read guide to the entire AP Physics 1 course, featuring more than 600 worked-out problems with full solutions and deeper understanding questions. AP Physics 1 Essentials covers all major topics included in the AP Physics 1 course, including: kinematics, dynamics, momentum, impulse, gravity, uniform circular motion, rotation, work, energy, power, mechanical waves, sound, electrostatics, and circuits. AP Physics 1 Essentials is integrated with the APlusPhysics.com website, which includes online question and answer forums, videos, animations, and supplemental problems to help you master the essential concepts of physics. This book is designed to assist physics students in their high school AP Physics courses both as a guide throughout the course as well as a review book to assist in end-of-course exam preparation. Its focus is on providing the bare bones, essential concepts necessary for success in the course in a straightforward and easy-to-read manner, leaving development of in-depth problem solving and lab work to the classroom, where it is most effective. In short, this is not intended as a substitute for a standard textbook or course, but rather as an invaluable supplementary resource. This new 2nd edition includes more than 90 AP-style problems to test your understanding and help prepare you for the AP Physics 1 Exam. Additional supplemental problems are available on the APlusPhysics website. Review: Great for Praxis - I bought this as a way to study for the Physics Praxis. I also bought 2 study guides, both of which were worthless and more expensive than this one. I think this gives a good overview of concepts, with enough practice problems to get you to internalize the ideas well. For the purposes of Praxis testing, the questions at the end are honestly too high level, but that wasn't what the book was written for. And, hey, why not challenge yourself.... since you are hoping to teach it! Review: Good way to learn physics - His videos are great. Good to have book. A better build up of concepts than more popular books.

Solid Preparation for a Brand New Course
One of the few books out there for the brand-new A.P. Physics 1 (and A.P. Physics 2) courses that have replaced the "inch deep and mile wide" A.P. Physics B. Nice worked examples, practice exercises with answers, and both qualitative and quantitative exercises for students to work. The artwork is perhaps a bit more juvenile and cartoonish than I'd like, but a well done piece of work.

Would recommended for beginners
Itโs a great book for learning physics from the beginning, it covers what you need to and should know. Then again I only bought this cause I lost the one I borrowed.

This book is excellent! There are numerous helpful practice questions and explanations
This book is excellent! There are numerous helpful practice questions and explanations. The book explains concepts in clear and consise methods. The book is written with humor and can be entertaining to read! Another thing I like about AP Physics 1 Essentials is that it has helped me understand the concepts, not just how to memorize definitions, equations, and processes. The material in this book is very similar to the material in my textbook and many of the practice questions are very similar to AP questions. Some practice questions are straightfoward and probably wouldn't appear on the AP exam, but they allow me to check my understanding on key concepts. Some of the harder questions are like AP questions. All in all, this book has greatly helped me in my AP Physics 1 class and I highly recommend this book!

Not truly AP level
I purchased this book this summer (2023) to prepare my daughter for AP Physics 1 which she is taking over the year. This book provides a good introduction to physics for someone that is new to the subject. What I will say is that the rigor of the questions, including the so called AP level questions at the back of the book, are far from sufficient to drive in a student the depth of understanding of the concepts and the algebra based manipulations required to be successful in a truly rigorous high school AP class that teaches at the level required to be successful in the AP exam. Doing the relatively simple problems provided does not provide enough of a challenge or drive the depth of understanding that's demanded in the AP exam. I would say that this book is a useful starting point, and probably sufficient for an on level course, but you will certainly have to supplement it with other resources. I am currently finding Etkina, Gentile, and Van Huevelen (either edition) to be excellent, both in the discussion of the concepts and the problems at the back of each chapter. Past AP exam problems are also very helpful.

Pretty Good For AP Exam
This was at a my physics teachers recommendation. I will say he did his research well. This has a lot of information that you will see on the physics exam and it even provided examples that were similar to ones I took on my exam. Although be warned that it doesnโt have a ton of questions since the book is really compact. However it does have good and useful information.
