Rockville RRB40 4U Rack Bag Double-Sided Case, 12" Depth, Shoulder Strap

This thing is perfect for an Amateur radio "shack in a box " Gobox build. Added a couple of shelves and rails then built it up. Perfect size for 2 radios, antenna tuner, battery, SWR meter and all needed connectors. Well built and should last a long time

The build quality and materials of this rack bag are great; it feels very sturdy and like it will last a long time if you take care of it. However, you should note that when it arrives, the distance between the rails is slightly wider than a standard rack unit. The good news is that it can easily be adjusted using the screws that attach the rails to the wood frame. By adding washers on both sides, you can pull the rails closer together until they fit your rack perfectly. As a downside, I wish the shoulder strap was a bit longer, or that the bag featured metal D-rings. However, if you find some aftermarket metal rings, you can easily replace the stock ones yourself and upgrade to a much more comfortable strap. I am giving it 5 stars mainly because of how budget-friendly and economical it is; for this price, it’s an amazing value even with those details. On a side note, there was a mistake with my shipping and I initially received the wrong size, but the seller's customer service resolved the issue incredibly fast. Great customer service and a solid product after a quick tweak!

UPDATE: Same defect, different day. Received the replacement and it has the same problem. I added two more pictures this time with more than one kind of equipment just to prove is isn't my equipment with the problem, it's the rack. Conclusion: Utter junk; avoid at all costs. --- Original Review --- The best part of this product is the bag; it's actually quite nice. The rack on the other hand is unusable. In the pictures I've shown the fit and finish of the covering; given that this is how it was out of the box it's pretty clear that within a few times in and out of the bag, this will be pulling off and looking awful. Worse though, the rack was not 19" wide; it was about 19.25" wide, which means NOTHING FITS. I've included pictures of one of my devices where lining the rack holes on up on side means the other side cannot be screwed in. It's slightly better at the bottom - maybe only 1/8" out of whack, but still too wide to use. This was confirmed with multiple devices, so the rack - the main purpose of buying this - is not fit for purpose. A 19" rack has one requirement: a 19" rackmount system, and this one fails. I have initiated a return and will give one more chance on the replacement. When that arrives I may update this review if it's actually usable. Meanwhile, buyer beware.

Original order came well wrapped with the exterior cardboard box intact. However, the top piece of wood was warped so badly that I could only insert two of the three available positions inside of the rack. I contacted the seller, and they quickly allowed a replacement. Instead of waiting for the refund, or the paper work to clear for a replacement, I reordered the identical item. This one was perfect, and I loaded it with my new in ear monitor system and filtered power supply. Having used it at two gigs so far, I am very satisfied with the build. Solid protection, heavy duty cloth cover and zippers. Ample storage space for pig tails and IEM antennas. Self contained for a light weight, quick setup and no more floor monitors!! Looks pretty cool too.

Good looking bag! Reasonable weight - not super light, but not super heavy. Appears to be about as sturdy as I expected for the price with decent quality nylon. I really like the little zippered compartment on the front to hold extra patch cables and wireless transmitters/body packs. I have no complaints...this is a good value for the money. Very basic so if you need more features, maybe higher priced bags have the things this one could use - - 4 suggested improvements: 1). Set the rails back just a little bit farther from the front of the bag. I am using this for live performance with Shure BLX4R wireless receiver, a Shure PSM 200 In-Ear system, a Behringer MX882 V2 Ultralink Pro mic/line mixer/splitter, and a Furman power conditioner with pull-out lights, and the rails are set so close to the front that I'm going to have to move them back slightly so the knobs on the PSM and the screen on the BLX4r don't get damaged in the event this is bumped from the front during transport or something is stacked on top of it while standing upright. 2). Could use little more padding at the front of the bag with the rails set this close to front. 3). Add three more zippered compartments on the top and sides for cables & accessories. Why not?! A padded compartment for a wireless mic would be a nice touch. 4). Add some rubber strips to the bottom and the back zippered compartment to protect the nylon. Would help for the unit to grip the top of my guitar amp when tilted back slightly on the stand & protect the nylon when the unit is all closed up and setting on the ground at various times during transport. Again, it appears to be a great value for the money, these are just some features this item doesn't have so go for a higher priced bag if you need these features. Edit 05/28/2020 - I ended up unscrewing the rails and setting them back far enough that the antennas and the front knobs on the gear don’t get damaged in transport. Easy to unscrew and acre back in. In an ATA flight case with a cover it’s ok to have the rails sit right up front since the cover will protect them, but in a gig bag they need to be set back a bit so knobs and such don’t get damaged from outside bumps and things that get piled on during transport. This is GREAT for local gigs where the artist transports their own gear, but won’t work well for a touring artist where the bag can get tossed in and out of a bus or a plane. Again a great value for the money for a non-touring artist.

Ill start out by saying that im not a professional DJ, or in a band. I happen to own some equipment and get volunteered to DJ an event or two per year. I bought this to hold a PDU, QSC GX5 amp, and the receiver for a shure microphone. Build quality seems fine for the money, my equipment fit as expected. I wish it came with more screws, i had to steal some from my fixed rack in my home to mount all of my equipment. Because there are 3 "standards" for threads for rack screws, i was lucky to have the right one handy. The first day out I pulled the rack out of the bag and DJ'd a party for a neighbor. The rack held up fine and didnt have an issue. At the end of the night i slid the rack into the bag and zipped it up without issue. When i lifted the bag up by the strap however, several of the stitches ripped and came loose. To be fair, I didnt try and return the item, because i plan to use it so seldomly and because it was so inexpensive compared to the models at guitar center from the name brands... Honestly there is probably a reason why. I didnt have a ton of equipment inside it, but the amp is a little heavy. It would probably have peen just fine with 4 lightweight microphone receivers or something else like that.

I recently took on a job working as a sound engineer for a local church in the town that I live in As I was running their mixing desk for their music group, I needed to run an effects rack on the mixing board to process some of the various different vocals and instruments. I have a few sound processers that I needed a rack case that was light, shallow and something to allow me to have the processors all wired up, ready to go. I have a few rack cases here in my house that I use for amplifiers but the cases alone are heavy, and bulky. Yes, they would do the job but I needed something better than what I have currently. I saw this case here on Amazon and figured I give this one a try. Love the fact that it has a zippered pocket to store extra cables if necessary and zipped covers to transport the gear. This case can not weigh more than 5 pounds empty and with the rigid structure and the rack rails, this case is a pretty solid made case. Made my job having the effects processors I use racked up nice and neatly and wired up to allow me to get them connected to the inserts of the mixing board very quickly! Now if the rack case with all the processors was only lighter in weight..... LMAO Weighs in a staggering 36 pounds with all the processors pictured here. (NOT A FLAW OF THIS CASE BY ANY MEANS!) Just me being silly here and having some heavy equipment...lol

Great price and rack comes out of bag to desktop in seconds and it came with hardware, but need to get rubber washers to avoid scratching/ metal debris paint scratching ect

Pretty nice! Would be neat to have an even more shallow version as I still have 3 inches or so to spare at the back after loading with a DBX Driverack PA 2 and an ART power conditioner. Best used for traveling around with often. I use it for bush doofs and it's smaller and nicer to carry than what I used to use.

Very impressed with the item, good quality material. Everything seems good if not above what I expected. Happy with my purchase.

Quality seems decent. Nylon is heavy. Includes extra screws. Two complaints though. There was no obvious water stains on the box, but the screws that were already in the rack had a bit of rust and some of the transferred to inside cover and stained it. The other complaint is that it's super tight. if you use all 5 spaces the last item is a struggle to get in.
