Does the security pocket have a zip?

There is a tiny, inconspicuous credit card-sized pocket on one strap (with zipper) and a larger, pretty well hidden security compartment, also with zipper, on the back. This compartment is under a strap, which is in turn under the back part of the ruck sack (i.e. pressing against the lower portion of your back when both straps are utilised and you're actually wearing the thing).

Do the A4 binder folder fit inside this bag?

You'll get an A4!Ring binder or lever arch file in either of the main pockets - in fact you'll get a foolscap one in there!

My current rucksack I have to put a plastic bag inside then my laptop as it is not waterproof - is this one really waterproof?

I think yes, its fairly waterproof although haven't tried using in heavy rains etc but in the event of any lighter rain, I have found the stuffs inside were alright.
