Vionic Women's Awaken Ankle Straps Heeled Sandal

I wore these shoes for three weeks all around Europe averaging 15,000 steps a day. They were the most comfortable sandals I’ve ever worn. When I went to pack them on the last day, though, I noticed that the souls were actually cracked so in the garbage they went. But for the three weeks of wonderful comfort that they gave me, I would rate them pretty high.

I'd been eyeing these for a long time at other stores but they were less expensive on Amazon. So I thought I'd give them a try. They are very cute and both straps are adjustable. There is good arch support and they are comfortable (especially with my arthrodesis surgery from 2023). The only thing is that they are kind of heavy. (I am 62 yo) But they are still a very good sandal - I just wouldn't choose to wear them if I was going on any long walks.

This is the first pair of Vionic sandals that I don’t love, and I’ve bought several since 2019. First, the short side of straps is much shorter than any pair I’ve ever had making it difficult for adjustment. I would think that some with wider feet than mine would be unable to adjust due to how short the straps are.Some have said they are comfortable and they wore these all over on vacation. I can’t imagine. I wore these for an evening walk and ended up with a blister on top of my big toe due to how the wide strap does not stretch or bend where the foot does.The arch of these sandals is the only good part of them. It’s the normal arch you would expect in a Vionic, making them comfortable when standing.As for size, I got an 8 like I always do with Vionic and the size is correct. It’s the wideness of the front strap that makes these uncomfortable for anything more than a short activity. I definitely wouldn’t take them on Vacation and never again for a walk around the block.You’ll see a tan line in my feet made by the Vionic flip flops I wear almost everywhere. You can see the blister caused by these sandals on my right big toe.I bought these as a dressier option for summer and I’d like to send them back and can’t. If you are looking for a good walking sandal, get the Vionic Walking Sandal. It looks more like a sneaker and isn’t as sleek as these, but I’ve never had a more comfortable sandal than those.2 stars for the typical Vionic arch and correct size.
