From Wikipedia (not helpful for allergies, I understand):  The "Original Salzburg Mozartkugeln" are still produced manually by the confectionery Fürst according to the original recipe and using the original technique: First, a ball of green pistachio marzipan covered in a layer of nougat is produced. This ball is then placed on a small wooden stick and dunked in a dark chocolate coating. Next, the stick is placed vertically, with the ball at the top, on a platform to allow the chocolate to cool off and harden. Finally, the stick is removed; the hole that it leaves behind is filled with chocolate coating, and the ball is wrapped in blue-silver tin foil by hand.

It's a center nougat of pistachio marzipan, surrounded by milk chocolate, then another layer of caramel nougat, covered in dark chocolate. They are delicious. And very addicting. There is no alcohol, or even alcohol flavoring. They're perfect with a glass of Merlot or a really big Cabernet Sauvignon. And, BTW, the Mozart liqueur, which comes in a roundish fat bottle covered in the same gold foil, tastes just like the kugeln. So if you do want another type of treat, I highly recommend it. The two combined are over the top. But the liqueur poured over vanilla gelato or ice cream is delicious.

Mozart did not make chocolate. This candy, the Mozartkugel originates from Mozart`s birthplace: Salzburg Austria. About 100 years after Mozart had lived and worked, Paul Fürst, a master confectioner from Salzburg, developed the mozartkegeln.
