Great Northern Popcorn Foundation 8oz Popcorn Machine Cart on Wheels, Black

My family loves this popcorn maker. We're a family of seven. On movie nights I make two one-cup batches right away - and it lasts the night. The warmer light seems to keep the popcorn warm and extra crisp while it's waiting for the older kids to quickly devour their bowls and claim seconds. It does a fantastic job popping nearly all of the kernels. I notice that the instructions for how much oil to use varies from the instruction booklet to that printed on the glass door of the machine. I've found 1 TBS : 1/2 Cup oil to kernels is a good ratio. We use coconut oil and table salt (1/2 tsp) directly into the pot. Once I dump the first popped batch into the cabinet, I put the next batch in. It takes only a few minutes each pop, once you've appropriately warmed it up. Just beware that you may be going through a lot of popcorn and a lot of oil. We have the 8oz capacity, and I do find that it is an awkward squeeze to get the oil into the pot. There is not a lot of room to manipulate inside that little door. Coconut oil is solid at room temperature, so that is some of the issue, but even with the company's own popcorn/oil packets, it's difficult to get more than one hand in there to squeeze it out. It looks really neat, and is durable enough to have survived my two-year-old's exploration of it. Ours has a bum top left hinge, so our door hangs a little droopy and doesn't engage the magnet meant to keep it shut, but we have no trouble with the door staying closed nonetheless. The relative footprint of the maker with the stand is pretty small, so it easily fits into a corner or against a wall when not in use. What I don't care for - it came with three really fun looking popcorn buckets - tall, skinny, vintage looking plastic bins. The kids were eager to use them. On the very first use (we rinsed them first in the sink with warm water) the red ink on the sides became tacky and smeary. Maybe the ink dissolves in the remnant oil on fingers? It got on the kids' hands and their clothes. I'm hoping they didn't ingest too much of it before we caught it. I'm not sure where Great Popcorn Company shopped out these buckets, but it was the lone disappointing feature. It was meant to be a bonus I'm sure, but my advice to GPC is to either discontinue including these bins with their product or cut ties with the manufacturer. Overall it's a great product. It was a gift from Santa this year, and really the hallmark of our holiday.

I bought 2 poppers, I plan to keep one for my self and gift the other to a family member. I bought this machine the Great Northern 8oz kettle, and from Temu I bought the Rovsun 8oz Keytle, both are nearly the same. However, the GreatNorthern shipped way faster about half the time and both were shipped from locations here in the states. I ordered the Great Northern from Amazon almost a full week after the Rovsun I ordered from Temu. It came within 5 days. The Rovsun took almost two weeks. The Great Northern on was far harder to assemble as the cabinet storage had to be built, where as the Rovsun they prebuilt this compartment for storage and it made the build much easier. Shaved about 30 min off of the build. The Great Northern has plastic scoops to measure and a nice big metal popcorn scoop, I love the popcorn scoop, the Rovsun has all metal scoops, while the popcorn scoop is smaller, I do love that it has a cute metal season salt shaker. As well the measure scoops are also metal. They both have 3 plastic popcorn cups, but the Great Northern also gave pop corn bags. Both have a removable kettle to make cleaning easier. Truth is I love both machines. They both look amazing. The Great Northern from Amazon was a little more expensive, than the Rovsun one from Temu, but they are almost the same machine slightly cosmetic difference, I chose to gift the great Northern and keep the Rovsun, both are super nice. Same size and measurements, I just like the look better in my space of the Rovsun as well as the light up of the top. If you need it fast both can be purchased from Amazon and they ship way faster! 5 Stars. Very pleased with this purchase.

*Only had this for a few days so this review is for the overall purchase and product thus far. I LOVE that I could get this in blue. VERY PRETTY AND DIFFERENT FROM WHAT PEOPLE ARE USED TO SEEING. I purchased for use at my medical clinic for special occasions and events, etc. We aren't a large office so an expensive commercial grade machine was not necessary. I decided to go ahead and get exactly what I wanted and pay the extra for the matching cart & popper set. Awesome!! Delivered free, fast, and not damaged. Assembly was easy all except getting the pot in place. It's just awkward because you can only work from one side but no biggie it went in after some maneuvering and was snug and stable. The first batch was easy as pie, just follow directions and use common sense. I found the second batch MUCH BETTER I suppose because the oil distributed better and the popcorn was a gorgeous buttery color through and through. First batch was great but I think that "seasoned the pot" in a way and they just got better after that. I used the all in one packets but to be perfectly honest, it will be easier to use popcorn from a jar or container & scoop it right into pot with a scoop or measuring cup. Same with oil and salt! Oil in packets is messy, I removed it and added it with a small ice cream scooper.. This worked perfectly as you don't have to keep scraping a spoon or squeezing that packet. Add about 2 scant teaspoons of yellow popcorn salt along with the oil!! Very easy to use, have a mitt or cloth beside you it gets HOT but that's a good thing! It looks very professional and sturdy, be careful as with anything it's not tornado proof. Overall this is a fabulous machine for anything short of a HUGE event or gathering!! Cleanup is Cleanup. Do it at the end of each day you use it, after it cools, and you'll make it stay beautiful for a long time. It's oil, salt and corn, it's gonna make a mess. Clean it well and treat it with respect and you'll love it !!!

We purchased this for when we have outdoor movies. So far it’s been working very well. I do recommend it. It’s a hit on movie nights! The positives: - Love the look - Super easy to use, especially with the pre-portioned popcorn packets - Popcorn is very good. If it’s humid outside it does get a little chewy, but you can’t really blame it for the weather. The negatives: - Not that easy to put together. We did not receive instructions in our box so we had to look them up online. The front glass door didn’t line up properly and one of the screws wasn’t long enough so we had to buy a different one. - Not easy to clean. The actual popper is a pain to get in and out. You can’t submerge it in water to wash it anyway, but it’s also difficult to wipe out with a damp cloth. You should expect at least 20 minutes of cleaning time after each use.

This wasn't the popcorn machine that I initially was looking for, but during the pandemic, this was what was available. Sometimes supply chain issues can be serendipitous -- this is a fantastic machine, still going strong five years later. I use it at least once every couple of weeks (more often during football season and movie nights). With generous amounts of coconut oil and flavacol, it basically creates perfect popcorn once you figure out the ratio and kernel type you prefer. I've seen some reviews that suggest the stamped metal is relatively thin; it's not an issue. This isn't a commercial machine -- that costs 5x more and is built for constant daily use. This is for home theater (or just popcorn) enthusiasts, and provided you're careful when you clean it, it's safe, durable, and should last a long time. The accessories it comes with are essentially disposable; I did upgrade to a better popcorn scooper and bowls here on Amazon. Unless you have the right height countertop bar, the cart is essential for storage, operation, and, let's face it, aesthetics. This was a purchase, not a review unit (I do review home theater products). Extremely satisfied customer.

I love this popcorn machine. My husband said it wasn't the easiest to put together, but hey, that's a husband problem. I didn't have to put it together at all so I just get to enjoy it. It is easy to clean, easy to use and is capable of making large quantities of popcorn which is good for someone who likes to entertain. I also like the blue color. It is very cute.

We bought this as a surprise for my husband for Father’s Day and he was so happy. He loves movie theater popcorn but not the movie theater prices for it. Now he has the best of both worlds. He can control the flavoring and salt level himself and he never has to worry about a burnt kernel again. This machine is truly the easiest to use, and it fills the house with that wonderful smell of fresh popcorn. The kids always know when it’s movie time at our house! The specs: The machine is a full size model on a stand. It reaches to my chin and I’m 5’6”. It holds a bunch of popcorn! It’s made with real metal and glass not flimsy plastic and it was easy to assemble. The wheels of the chart are like real bike wheels with rubber tires and metal spokes. The storage door holds all the goodies inside so they are there when you are ready. Though it comes with bags and a server we went ahead and ordered him some extra and some reusable popcorn containers since this is staying in the family. We love this thing. You want this. You really need this!

I purchased the Great Northern Popcorn 8 oz foundation vintage style popcorn machine and Cart for my home theater. Assembly was simple, easy and straight forward. The stirring motor is very quiet and it looks very well made. The kettle has a notch at bottom of the stirrer that should knock the lids closed should they open fully during the popping cycle. The notch isn't long enough and only scrapes one of the lids but not enough for it to close. The popcorn scoop that I received isn't correct for this machine. I measured the scoop by pouring the popcorn into a measuring cup. The scoop that came with this popper is 1/2 cup. The machine takes 1 CUP kernels as instructed on the door. The book says to only use 1 scoop. When you get this amazing machine, measure the accompanying scoop and spoons by putting popcorn or water in them and pour the contents into known measures. None them are labeled. Cleanup is easy with this unit, it's large enough to get my hands into without much of a problem. I had a smaller unit that wasted a lot of corn, many old maids when it was finished. This unit is very efficient, I had very little compared to the smaller unit. Another plus, maintenance isn't bad either. Replacement kettles are $50 or less. I was pleased the Popcorn scoop for finished popcorn was large and easy to use. Until I get use to it, it seems a little big for this unit. Except for the minor details above, this is well worth the money. If the scoop was 1 cup and the auto-close worked on the stirrer, I'd have to say this should be a professional machine. It deserves 5 stars for the price and quality of workmanship.

Pay attention to how you attached the sides when building the box that the popper mounts on or else the popper won’t be able to anchor in and secure to the box. If that happens you will have to take it apart and switch the sides of the box so the popper can be anchored in. My only complaint is I don’t know why they just wouldn’t build the mount in holes universal. That way it wouldn’t matter which side goes where.

Amazing kernels popper! This popper is awesome and clients enjoy see the kernels popped. Diffuses a great buttery smell all around the shop. Retro look is totally attractive. Easy to use. We use standard popcorn kernels with colored coconut oil. Results are amazing! Easy to clean with hot water and vinegar (1 part of vinegar in 4 parts of hot water). We clean it on each 2 days. Only negative point: needs 2-3 batch of popcorn to be popped so the glass cube looks filled.
