Review: The Mossad, the most Elite Intelligence Service the world has ever known - The level of professionalism and innovation shown by the world's greatest intelligence service is astounding. Shrouded in mystery and secrecy, The Mossad has established itself to be the most cutting edge and innovative intelligence service in the world, virtually unmatched. Israel's Spymasters have set such high standards for the art of espionage that all other western intelligence services look up to it for guidance and inspiration. Closely working with other major intelligence agencies around the world, Israel's Mossad was responsible for saving not just countless Israeli lives, but many lives of many other nations. The constant flow of real time vital intelligence from the Mossad station in Israel to the world's major cities, warns against potential terrorist attacks, thus helping those nations stay safe. No wonder the phony UN headed by the cronies that control it, namely arab countries and their liberal fanatical supporters hate Israel and the Mossad so much, cause they know its awesome power and importance of stopping the islamization of the West. Israel is like the antidote for the wicked plans of the muslim extremists to dominate the West. The Mossad cuts off the heads of the many snakes in the Muslim and Arab world before they would have enough power to bring about their terrible plans to reality. This book clearly demonstrates such examples, by showcasing the virtuosity of Israel Legendary Intelligence Agency. It provides examples from exclusive interviews with Mossad Agents, on some of the methods and characteristics that define the Mossad. You will find this book fascinating, entertaining and informative. Israel a tiny nation encircled by 22 Arab/Muslim countries that seek its destruction, still survives, and will continue to survive forever, thanks to its formidable secret service but most importantly because of the blessing that the God of Israel had blessed the Jewish People in the book of Genesis :" Those who will bless you will be blessed, and those who will curse you will be cursed"...one doesn't need to look too hard to see this blessing taking place, as the 22 arab countries are engulfed with their own civil wars and conflicts, while Israel is Protected under the Wings of the All Mighty, the God of Israel. Review: Interesting and engaging - This is an interesting and engaging book. Written by an expert on espionage who served in the Knesset and as an advisor to Moshe Dayan and by a political reporter, the book recounts, in effect, the Mossad's greatest missions. So says the book's subtitle, but the book also recounts some embarrassments, some slipups and some tragedies (such as the death of the current prime minister's older brother at Entebbe). Reviewers have commented on the quality of the writing. I had no problem with the writing (except for an occasional odd use of a preposition), but the potential reader should be aware of the fact that the book is replete with facts and their accumulated impact can take a toll on the reader's attention. In other words, this is a book that you need to read when you are fresh. It is a dense, journalistic account of a series of discrete actions, arranged chronologically (though some of the events overlap as, e.g., when multiple individuals are being sought by the Israeli security forces). Each of the stories carries its own interest, but equally interesting are the overarching techniques used by the Mossad—stakeouts, walkthroughs, the introduction and extraction of agents, the use of credentials and disguises, multinational agents and weaponry. Each reader will bring his or her own interests to the read. I was particularly interested in the Israeli reaction to Black September's murders at the Munich Olympics. All should be interested in their current interactions with Iran and its nuclear ambitions. Bottom line: a dense but rewarding read that results in an appreciation for the nature of the Mossad, the personalities of its heads, their place within the Jewish state and their role in international affairs.

quite captivating
This book tells us something’s we know, but much more details and background. It also tells us a lot we don’t know and might never know unless you read the book. I thought the book, on one hand moved fast, but each chapter was its own story so it was easy to put down and pick up later and continue reading it more.

Wow
This is a truly amazing book. With input from Mossad agents, heads of the Mossad and Israeli leaders, this book tells the stories behind the stories of one of the best(by reputation) intelligence services in the world. What was most interesting is the authors dedicated equal time to their failures and to their successes. From the birth of the state of Israel, through the six-day war, the Yom Kippur war, the raid on entebbe, the Palestinian Intefads, and the current events unfolding with Syria, North Korea and Iran, this exposes the way the Mossad undertook its missions - from identifying a mission, to selecting agents, to planning and rehearsing the actual undertakings, to their execution. Even though the government of Israel still sensors much of the media and information about their military and intelligence services, stories that have not been told were explained in detail. Names of agents who are still alive and in action were changed to keep them safe. But, the book does not read like a non-fiction text. It reads like a novel. The book is well written, well researched. The stories are told in easy to understand and captivating ways. I strongly recommend this book - whether you are Zionist or Anti-Zionist; if you are passionate about the course of events in the middle east or not, it is very intriguing to understand how intelligence services operate within their country, in tandem with other countries and covertly.

Definitely worth reading, but not as good as some other spy books.
I like spy books. This one is a little under whelming. Especially in the first few chapters, the writer is more of a cheerleader than an objective reporter. I wish the book had more "spy craft", which I've learned in other spy books, such as ones by John Le Carre. Nevertheless, no one can argue that, for given Israel's small size and constant danger it faces, the Mossad is probably the best, most effective secret security organization in the world. It was fun to learn how the Mossad tracked down infamous Nazis. Those are satisfying stories. The time range the book covers is impressive, from before Israel formed almost to the present day. I was surprised the book reveal so much about Israel's nuclear program. I thought that was still an unconfirmed program. I credit the author for demystifying that. If you're really into spy books, the gold standard is still Peter Wright's "Spy Catcher". I hope a book of similar technical detail is written about the Mossad someday. Not bad; full of information; overall feels fairly authentic
This is one of those books written by people who are experts in their field but not necessarily experts at writing. However, the editors appear to have provided a lot of help in making it readable. Actually, the topics discussed throughout the book are fascinating, and overcome a lot of the shortcomings the text has. I assume the stuff is true, or at least as true as the authors could allow it to be. It is interesting in that some details seem familiar from reading other books (both fiction and presumed nonfiction), while other passages claim authenticity while naming previously believed thoughts to be myth. Obviously, regular people will never know exactly what happens inside any intelligence agency, but this book does have a strong "feel" of being authentic. I happen to be a big fan of Daniel Silva, whose excellent books tell of the adventures of Israeli secret agents. Reading this book makes me wonder where he gets his information. The foundations for many of his stories can be found in this book, although with different names and details. It's sort of fun comparing his characters with those described in this here.

Don't mess with Mossad!
Many pundits pronounce that some day, either Israel or the US will have to take military action against Iran's nuclear facilities to prevent that country from developing a nuclear weapon. As long as Mossad operates as portrayed in this book, I feel confident that such drastic action will never come to pass. The book describes how, in current times, Mossad has managed to put many wrenches in the works of Iran's efforts to develop a weapon. With the large number of Iranian dissidents in country, they have fertile grounds in which to develop counterattacks that do not involve air strikes. Their methods are blood-curdling in many instances, but Israel is a country surrounded by a sea of sharks, so they will do whatever it takes. That is the scenario that kicks off this fascinating insight into the workings of what is arguably one of the best covert services in the world. We are then taken back to the beginnings of the service to read of many of its amazing and daring exploits in a series of stand-alone stories. Some have made major headlines in my lifetime, one being the capture and spiriting of Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichman out of Argentina, under the noses of the Argentinian authorities. The book also describes some of the agency's less than stellar operations, a few of which ended in failure, but in the end, I was in awe of the ruthless efficiency with which the long arm of Mossad reaches out to covertly defend Israel against its enemies.

It reads like a spy novel and goes into detail about some ...
A very quick and interesting read. This book is non-fiction, and gives insight as to why the Israelis are so aggressive towards terrorism regardless of where in the world it may be. It reads like a spy novel and goes into detail about some of the most well-known missions ever undertaken by the Mossad: the kidnapping of Eichmann, the assassination of other Nazi war criminals, and the covert operations that led to the returning of a kidnapped young boy that had been smuggled out of Israel with his name changed and dressed as a girl. Lots of neat stories- like how the Mossad managed to get a Middle Eastern pilot from a rogue nation to defect to Israel with his fighter jet so they could study it and learn how it worked. Perhaps most interesting was that the Mossad and other branches of the Israeli government are just as diligent in holding their own people and citizens accountable as they do Palestinian terrorist, contrary to what popular culture and think tanks say. I highly recommend it.

A really well written book with some great stories of things that I knew about from the public press but also a lot that I had never heard of. Very easy to read.

A great read!!
This was an excellent insight not only to the events, some of which I wasn't aware of, but to the motivation, planning, and conscience of the Mossad. It was well written and easy to read, keeping me interested. I was disappointed when I finished the book.

Real facts with adventures writing.
MOSSAD The MOSSAD is widely recognized as the best intelligence service in the modern world. This book provides an end to end facts and tactics used to maintain this superiority which in turn required to maintain the sovereignty of the Israel. This book provides a deep insight about the birth of Israel as a nation and the sacrifices it has to endure while facing cunning enemies and phony friendly nations. So if we talk about the Six Day War or the Yom Kippur war, this book highlights in its each and every paragraph the philosophy which pulls this tiny nation to keep the interest of the future Israel at first and once’ own life at least priority. The book in its true meaning portrait an idle relationship between the government and the armed forces. As beautifully explained the chapter about Adolf Eichmann, who was responsible was murdering 3-6 millions Jews in concentration camps. Why it was necessary to capture him alive and bring him half the world over to Tel Aviv to be tried as a common prisoner. Same way eradication of Black September which was responsible for killing Israeli players in Munich Olympics and resolve of Israeli government machinery to bring each and every member and the entire organization to justice, irrespective of the fact as whoever government would be in power. This book contains several blood drenching stories and facts that one should grasp as to why this nation is always first to strike and strike hard. Even the first member of the parliament, its prime minister had once said to most powerful president of the world – I will do whatever I feel necessary to protect my mother land. Whether you would stand with me or not. This shows the resolve of its people to stand against anyone to save the nation. Hope one will understand the fact when a soldier decides to kill? And what it takes to kill an enemy inside its own territory? Enjoy…Happy Reading. Thanks for Michael Ben Zohar and Nissim Mishal for this masterpiece.

A war tales book, with no historical method
I was looking for a fact-based, journalistic work to better understand the world of Israeli intelligence, but this book doesn't fit my need. It is more similar to a collection of war tales without a framework to understand the contest or explain the whereabouts of the topic. This is not to say that the book is bad. On the contrary, those who like tales will enjoy it, so the rating is based on the difference between what I was looking for and what I actually got.
