The ultimate color-by-color flower reference guide - from New York's pre-eminent floral designers, Putnam and Putnam Planning a wedding, a dinner, a birthday party, a romantic evening, holiday entertaining, or just arranging flowers for the pleasure of having them, more often than not your creative process begins with thinking about the color of the flowers that you want. To help you find what you are looking for, Flower Color Guide is the first reference book to organize flower types by color, with an emphasis on seasonality and creative color schemes - and the results are stunning in their sheer variety. What Pantone is to color, Flower Color Guide is to flowers. Showcasing 400 flowers at their peak, with stunning photography taken by Putnam & Putnam in their Brooklyn studio, this guide includes an appendix featuring perforated pages, with tips on flower care, notes on how to prepare vessels and a list of suggested color schemes. A great gift to give, or to have for oneself, the book speaks to the most seasoned flower enthusiasts as well as those just beginning to explore the possibilities of arranging flowers. Taylor Putnam and Michael Putnam have built a reputation for romantic, dramatic floral arrangements and installations using color as their guiding principle - here, they share their knowledge with readers worldwide: "This is the book we wished we had when we started doing flowers." Review: Perfect for an amateur florist! - This book is exactly what I needed since starting a career in floral design and needing a solid reference book. This book has it all: floral identification, colors available, seasons best for harvest, and personally best of all the way a flower is/can be used (face, filler, gesture, ect). Another wonderful thing for this book is when a costumer (most often a bride) would like a particular flower for an arrangement we can go through the book together to pick something out which makes its organization by color perfect in these situations. My only criticism is that the book is too small in height and length, it makes the perforated section almost useless for me. I thought it would be better to have the "flashcards" for customers to browse through as they wait or chat and coworkers to keep at their stations, but the book's size has the pictures too small for identification, nice for a color swatch but that's pretty much it. Don't get me wrong though, the rest of the book's pictures are wonderfully captured, well light, and detailed to help ANYONE find the perfect flowers for them! While this isn't the book to teach you how to design it's an excellent stepping stone for those that are interested in the world of cut flowers or simply enjoy looking at them! Review: a must-have resource for artists and designers - I LOVE this book- it's such a perfect resource for artists. I use it for color palette reference, photo-real research on flowers, plus the book is great for turning sideways and using as a reference for abstract composition (the flower stalks turn into beautiful lines for an abstract landscape). The photos are gorgeous, clear, perfectly lit, and the colors are true to life- there is no "tweaking" of saturation which is good when you are really trying to gauge the true-life color of a flower and so many resources and photo collections of flowers are really saturated. My only issue is that the book is TINY (5x7" a little bigger than a photograph/postcard)- I though it would be quite a bit bigger, but it's kind of like this little manual. It makes the book easier to carry and store and flip through, but I love looking at details of the flowers and really seeing the colors right where the stem meets the petals (there are some gorgeous colors happening in the tiniest details of plants...) and those details are hard to see at such a small size. I'd love a larger version of this book- even though it would be cumbersome and take up a lot of shelf and easel real-estate, it would be worth it for larger images of these beautiful flowers.

Damaged :(
Loved the book. It's sad it came damaged. Not sure if was the delivery. But still frustrating to have riped pages in a new book.

A GREAT resource for painting!!
Iโve wanted this for a while to help provide inspiration for my watercolor floral painting. So glad I purchased! The photos are clean and crisp and so great for studying color and composition! I love that the flowers are ordered by color and in the back there are perforated miniature cards with each flower on them that can be removed. Not sure how Iโll use this yet but I love having the option to remove them as needed and maybe use for travel, etc. they also have all the info for each floral such as the name, color, and itโs use (spiller, filler, etc.).

Filled with over 400 high quality photos of gorgeous flowers! I am an artist and so far this us the best flower reference book I have ever had my hands on! I was surprised that it was smaller than what I expected yet the quality is totally worth it!
