Most effective to use per directions. This mouthwash was recommended by my dentist some years back and I've had no reason to change mouthwash brands. My personal preference is for the green color but I'm not particular with the various benefit combinations that are sold. I usually buy a large bottle and refill a smaller one that had come with a dosing chamber at the top. The directions state to use once a day BUT you're supposed to actively rinse for a full minute. When I started to pay attention to the time I found that a minute standing over the sink was too painfully boring so now I straighten up the bathroom or some other easy nearby chore while getting the full minute rinse. Since my dental hygenist recommended tongue scraping afte brushing, I now also rinse a half portion in the morning but also for one minute. I do the full rinse after the evening brushing for the most benefit.
