I don't typically write reviews unless an item either greatly falls below or exceeds my expectations. This case was certainly the latter, because this phone mount works amazingly. First and foremost, it does not use an abrasive tape that leaves residue upon removal. I have taken the holder on and off my dash dozens of times now and it leaves no indication it was ever there. Moreover, the holder stays precisely where you place it on your dash - it is very secure once you've suctioned it to your desired location. It is also versatile enough to hold some of the smallest and largest phones on the market today. My work phone shown in my photo is an iPhone SE 3 without a case. The phone I took this photo with is my personal iPhone 16 Pro Max with a thin case. The holder holds both phones perfectly and neither have fallen out during hard cornering or accelerating. I have a sporty 2-door coupe with a proper manual transmission and lots of on/off-ramps on my commute. I am a spirited driver, yet neither phone has even budged once its placed in the holder. It's a perfect product and works 100% as advertised. I can't recommend it enough - 10/10.

So far, so good. It's only been a week or two, but the new Summer heat hasn't yet been a problem. The mount stays in place and adequately holds my phone steady. It only holds it horizontally--which I was aware of before purchasing--but it's something to take note of if considering this product. It should also be considered that this mount mostly only finds space and positioning on the upper dashboard of most vehicles. This means that the phone sits in the sunlight. This presents two issues: 1) The phone heats up quickly and can lead to charging being paused, and 2) The being in the sun means no shadow across the screen to block out any glares (and there are certainly glares), which cause the phone screen to be difficult to read. Overall though, the product serves its purpose and does not block driver's view of the road or potential hazards.

This cellphone holder works pretty good, holding my phone well even through fast corners and sporting driving and it stays on the dash good, too! It's nice to not have to rely on those frustrating suction cups! The top swing arm holds phone to bottom, and underneath the unit is some kind of silicone gell type stuff that keeps the whole thing from moving around on your dashboard too much. Only drawback is that is REALLY bad to pinch the fingers of the hand in back while you open jaws to insert/remove phone in front! It has mechanical leverage over your fingers, and pinches them quite badly! So, if you're willing to be more careful than me, get it!

My husband and I both love this phone holder. It's very stable but also removable and can be repositioned. It's nice that it lays flat when not in use and doesn't obstruct your view of the road at all. I absolutely recommend this over others that I've had in the past! Phone stays put over bumps, railroad tracks, everything! Works well with my iPhone with a rubber case and also my husband's slippery phone without a case! XD

Update, 11/18/2020: I guess the summer sun, in Upstate New York, is too much for the rubber strip to take; it keeps coming unglued and falling off. Otherwise, this is still a pretty nice device. Update, 10/28/2019 About one month after I received the Aonkey phone holder, the rubber strip came unglued and fell off the of the bottom of the top jaw. A couple drops of glue remedied for now. I know that when I clamp my iPhone 8 between the spring-loaded jaws of this Aonkey holder, it will hold it firmly and securely in place, even on curvy and bumpy country roads. I would recommend this product to a friend. ————————————- I purchased the Aonkey Dashboard Cell Phone Holder to hold my iPhone 8 and it does hold it securely, but only in the horizontal position. In fairness, nothing in the product's online advertisement claimed that it would hold a cell phone in the vertical position, so I never expected it to do so. However, the included instruction sheet is not for this model, and the model shown does claim to hold a phone in the vertical position. I would have really preferred that model. Pros: (1) a spring tension plastic clip, equipped with a set of upper and lower silicone lined jaws, hold a cell phone securely in place; (2) the jaws of the phone holder open to a generous 4.5"; (3) the silicone jell base very securely adheres to the slightly pebble-grained, hard vinyl dashboard of my Toyota Camry; (4) for even greater adhesion, you only have to remove a thin plastic wrap covering an extra sticky area of the base; (5) and a recessed area at the center of the base is designed to act as a suction cup, probably for vehicles equipped with a smooth dashboard; (6) it comes with yet an additional double-sided tape, foam rubber oval, to more permanently mount the holder to a dashboard; (7) when empty, (sans cell phone), the base has a nice low profile, measuring about 1.25" from top to bottom; (8) the clip is double-grooved to slightly vary the angle of the cell phone, potential reducing screen glare; (9) without using the more permanent foam rubber mount, the holder can easily be moved from vehicle to vehicle; (10) although this holder is made almost entirely out of plastic and silicone, it appears to be well made and sturdy. Cons: as noted above, (1) this model is incapable of securely holding a cell phone in a vertical position; (2) and it comes with the wrong product instruction sheet. Since the "pros" vastly outnumber the "cons," I'm giving this product five stars.

Ordered this to use for an upcoming 800+ drive in an unfamiliar vehicle, so that I could use my smart phone as hands-free GPS that wouldn't fall down, slip off the dash, etc. The unit arrived quickly, packaged very well. The hinge is strong without being unwieldy and there are multiple positions/widths cut into the rubber grip to support different phone models. There is built-in "sticky" rubber on the bottom that comes protected by peel-off film, as well as an additional 3M double-sided sticky pad that is optional. We only used the built-in sticky pad to attach to the dashboard which had a slight slope. The unit never budged and the grip was strong enough to stay in place even when manipulating the gripping hinge. Even though the unit stays put, nice and snug, it was easy to remove by prying it loose, at which point you can either put it back (I had to reposition it slightly, since it does not pivot) or you can recover the sticky pad with the protective film or some saran wrap to keep it clean. There was no mark visible on the dash when we removed it the first time, although only time will tell if it leaves a mark after being in place for several months vs several days. I'm very pleased with this product. I'm leaving it in place against future need-- when not in use it automatically folds flat and is unobtrusive.
