Terry Pratchett: The BBC Radio Drama Collection: Seven full-cast dramatisations : Terry Pratchett: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Faithful, spectacular Pratchett dramatisations. A Discworld delght. - When I found myself leaping to the radio to listen to the re-run of "Guards !, Guards !" for the fourth or fifth time I finally decided to take the plunge and buy the box set so I could listen to these BBC drama adaptations at leisure. This turned out to be a good decision. The sound quality is superb and exploits stereo to its fullest with great sound effects that really enhance the drama. The adaptations are faithful to the books and the four done by Robin Brooks - "Mort","Eric" "Small Gods" and "Night Watch" are especially good and manage to cope with the difficulty of explaining the Discworld set-up well without using a very long preamble. I especially enjoyed Geoffrey Whitehead's portrayal of Death and the two with Anton Lesser's narration which fitted my vision of Discworld and its denizens perfectly. I've already binged on the whole 15 cd set despite my intentions to spread my listening out over times when I couldn't find music, podcasts or radio programmes that suited my mood. (Listening with headphones is recommended for a great experience. ) There seems to be some sort of Marmite thing going on with reviews of this box set which seem to be saying either "Rubbish" or "Marvellous" which I suppose reflects ones own vision of the characters or perhaps prior familiarity with the Discworld. As a self-confessed Pratchett fan I am tremendously sad at losing him but am delighted with this collection which I found marvellous. Since one of the delights of Discworld for me is the joy of constantly finding a reference or joke that I had previously missed I am looking forward to listening to these again and am delighted with my purchase. Review: Five Star Performances, Five Star Stories- Fantastic. - Seven full-cast dramatisations from the fabulous BBC Radio Drama department is a bargain at half the price. The Terry Pratchett Radio Drama Collection is wonderfully acted, sensibly abridged and a wonderful 'Movie for Your Ears' to quote the late much missed, Frank Zappa. No one does these comedy dramas better than the BBC. You get seven delightful plays. Heck the price is worth it just for the brilliant Guards Guards! And The Night Watch. If you've read the books it's amazing at just how quick you accept and welcome the voices, Carrot becomes Carrot, Same Vimes becomes the voice of the grizzled, seen it all before and survived Captain of the watch. The rest are superbly performed and tight direction moves the action and the comedy (and this is in spades from the wonderful pen and imagination of the beloved Terry Pratchett. This is a fine tribute to the much missed Terry and that is no mean achievement.

The entire radio series of Terry Pratchet
As usual with this author work. While sticking to the storyline each medium of presentation has variations embedded. For ardent fans of his work it is part of the pleasure looking out for these deliberate changes. Excellent value.

Great stories, terrible packaging
These full-cast dramatisations are excellent productions by the BBC and bring the humour of the books to life brilliantly. The only thing that lets this CD set down is the cheap packaging. All the CDs are stacked on top of each other inside a cheap plastic case. Not only does this make it less easy to move onto the next disc it also most likely means that the discs will get scratched. There are other ways to reduce cost, the Harry Potter CDs are in individual sleeves in a small outer case and that works brilliantly. Sadly this BBC set packaging won't stand the test of time.

Deserving of Every Discworld fans collection
What is there to say about these BBC dramatisations? Far superior to the tv adaptations, and a lot more faithful. MORT under my belt already and it's fabulous...he couldn't find his arse with both hands.🤣🤣🤣 I had heard Wyrd Sisters already and THAT one I know is incredible.Nice to have the bonus play Only You Can Save Mankind. Roll on vol.2 Sound effects, and acting top notch. I know the BBC did an amazing 😁😁😁😁 job of Maurice And His Amazing Educated Rodents

Great stories.
I've been looking for audio books and finally found these. I had to transfer them to a memory stick but the quality is excellent.

Arrived quickly and really enjoy it

I would have liked the disks in individual packets rather than on one single spindle. Packaging gets one star, content all the stars.
