Works as intended.

Not accurate

The unit operates great in that it is easy to use. It is light that is good in that it is easy to carry but seems cheap. The accuracy is off by 1% and .5% between the two inputs even though it is new. I have a calibrated simulator that I use to calibrate all my instruments. Great for cooking meats if you have a sensor with high temp leads. Overall great for the money.

I bought it principally for A/C refill usage. Thermocouples need to be used properly for good results. Normally, one uses a thermal potting compound to ensure good contact with what is being measured, found at Omega. In the case of A/C, a wrap with electrical tape keeps it in place, ensures good contact, and makes the thermocouple recoverable. One Alternative Use: Being an engineer, I have never been confident in any store bought thermometer to tell if I have a fever. Because there is no way of calibrating nor certification of calibration with a % error in measurement, so I find store bought thermometers useless. A +/-5% error in a store bought thermometer means for a 100F reading your actual temperature is between 95 and 105F. You could be totally healthy or very ill. Which is it? Whereas, thermocouples do tend to have calibration slips, can easily be field calibrated, and have extremely minute errors relative to thermometers. So the next time I suspect a fever, I will be using this pressed against my forehead for accuracy.

Very nice little thermometer for measuring kiln temperatures. I don't like to go out and buy kiln temperature measuring cones because they're expensive and my kiln is so old it doesn't have a kiln sitter (device that auto turns off kiln after set temperature is reached). So, this thermometer allows me to digitally measure the temperature without having to use a clay cone, and it is easy to probe! It has two long wires, that can measure two different temperatures. All you do is insert one of the wires into the kiln (plastic will melt off but it's okay), and you're good to go! Takes about a minute to get a super accurate reading but the pottery has come out great!

Was excited when I opened it to find a product that seemed high quality for the money. Went thru the menus and was very pleased with the functionality. Then the test, Ice water that was verified with two other devices to be 32 degrees actually read 35.8. Dove into the book for a possible calibration procedure. No methods to calibrate. Dang. I planned to use the device for HVAC which requires greater accuracy. Better probes may help but if you have to buy those at an addition cost just spend the money a get a something that functions correctly out of the box.

The thermocouples that come with it seem to be relatively accurate. I like the slim ones, they're easy to attach to things. The display is large and easy to read. It does feel a little 'cheap', but otherwise works exactly as it should. The thermocouple connectors are a little cheap, but they work just fine. A case would have been a nice touch. 5-Stars for the value though. If you're looking for a professional unit, this isn't it, but it also is priced appropriately!

Primarily I wanted to use this for monitoring a freezer. It didn't seem to give me the readings I was expecting so I did an ice point measurement. One thermocouple gave an error of about 4C and the other about 1.5C (regardless of channel). I am guessing this is mostly thermocouple error and I hope to obtain another shortly to use as a reference point. In short, you seem to get what you pay for. Like a lot of others, trying to set the display to stay on isn't as per instructions which are poor, not that this is too important for my application.

I bought this to troubleshoot and monitor the temperature of a home oven. Bought separately a thermocouple rated at 500 C. The combination will do the job. For the price the meter is good quality and works well. There are models more suited for everyday industrial applications but they cost ten times as much. I'm happy with the purchase for home handyman use. I'm sure it'll get a lot of use troubleshooting friend and relative's appliances too.

Testing fridge freezer settings also check defrost thermostat very satisfied with this thermometer. This thermometer is made by Benetech Model GM1312 you can download pdf manual from their website. To disable automatic turn OFF function, turn thermometer on then press and hold the HOLD button. While simultaneously pressing the ON button. This will turn off automatic function. Turning off the thermometer will reactivate automatic turn off function.

I purchased the more industrial probes to go along with this unit because I needed it for a larger temperature range that the included probes can handle.
