Herco Trombone Vinyl Coated Flex Brush

I use it for cleaning all the drains in my Miata and it does a great job, goes all the way through, no snags, and it's even flexible enough to clean the drain that runs through the door seal, and long enough to go all the way through. It'd probably work great on a trombone as well, but I can't say for sure. If you own both a miata and a trombone I'd get 2 different brushes, the drains get NASTY.

I only purchased this to clean my drains on my 2008 Mazda Miata. I have no clue how it cleans a trombone or any other musical instrument. For cleaning my drains this tool did a great job and I would recommend it to anyone who ones a Miata as the drains do tend to get clogged rather easily and this product makes the job substantially easier. Image was a bit misleading as I thought the coil was going to me metallic in nature and when it was arrived it was covered in black vinyl and the spine was metallic. Obviously this discrepancy wasn't an issue given my use for the product so I give it 5 stars.

I would like to add to the many people, this is 100% a Miata Cleaning Tool, and a MUST own. I received this and tried it on my mothers NC Miata, worked like a charm, a little tricky at first (plenty of how to videos), but after the first pass, all others went smooth. Wear gloves as you will never believe the gunk that gets trapped in those drains through the years! My Highest Recommendation! Update: 07/06/20 - had three major thunderstorms, back to back to back, not one drop of water in interior or trunk. Once a month, about 2 minutes a side, is all it takes to keep your Miata leak free and factory new. My highest recommendation. Mazda should just buy the factory and gives these to every Miata owner, but hey, if they did that they could not charges the hundreds of dollars to perform the same work in house.

I haven't played trombone since the fourth grade, but these are great for cleaning the soft top drains on a Mazda Miata/Roadster/MX-5, call it what you will. Get the bristles soapy and shove 'em on through the top of the drain until they poke out the bottom of the car, loosen all the crud out of the drain, rinse and repeat.

On one of the Mazda forums, a trombone brush was receommended for cleaning the drain holes under the convertible top. Not what the product was made for, but it works like a charm. It will stay with the rest of my car products and be used once a year to keep the drains clean. Certainly seems to be a quality product and anticipate long life from it.

This worked perfectly for clearing out my '92 Miata drain plugs. They were backed up with petrified mud. I began by using my dipstick to break up the fortified sum of dirt, water, and the fossils of ancient creatures. Then I ran this bad boy through the ducting. Now my drains expunge liquid and filth more effectively than the digestive tract of a kid. I think it might be good for cleaning musical instruments, such as trambones, too-- but I'm not sure. The bristles are somewhere between soft and medium in stiffness, and the twisted strand wire is coated with rubber or vinyl. Not just for Miatas.

For 35 years I owned a 1949 (New York) Bach Stradivarius b-flat trumpet, #8558. But that's not why I bought this brush. I have a 2007 Miata, and needed to clean the drain tubes. I had to park outside for two months after I moved (full garage) and the jacaranda tree leaves clogged the tubes. I was able to clear them using a Drain Weasel, but the ideal tool is a trumpet brush. This one arrived today, and was easy to snake down the tube, without removing the plastic shelf. I was also able to easily snake it up from the bottom of the car. NOTE: The brush gets very dirty when used in the drain tubes. If you own both a horn and a Miata you should probably buy two HE78 brushes and keep them separate.

I was hoping it would work better than it does. The bristles are not very strong and there aren't very many of them at that. To effectively clean a trombone slide, a hose, etc having more bristles that are stronger would make this much more effective. It would work well for beginner players.

Im Prinzip kann man hiermit eine Posaune putzen. Leider löst sich die Gummibeschichtung bereits ab, wenn man zum ersten Mal über die Kante am Anfang des Zuges kommt. Die Länge ist ausreichend um an der Wasserklappe vorbeizufahren. Wer jedoch durch beide Rohre gleichzeitig möchte, sollte sie besser nach einem längeren Utensil umschauen.

Worked perfectly to clean the drain holes for my miata. I was surprised by all the stuff that came out of that drain hole. I highly recommend this for people trying to clean the drain holes for their convertibles. Save yourselves from the headaches in the future by buying and cleaning those drains before something worse happens.
