You are formally invited to the Highland wedding event of the year. (Regrets Only!) Their marriage was two decades in the making. Elizabeth Hay is young, educated, and has her own ideas about her life. Alexander Macpherson is a Highlander and a pirate and not about to be tied down to some delicate court flower. But honor dictates they go through with the betrothal arranged when they were still children. Now the wedding ceremony is only a week away. Each wants to put an end to the nuptials, but fate has a way of bollixing the best-made plans. As the biggest storm in memory sweeps through Scotland and the floods leave them swimming for their lives, Elizabeth and Alexander must face up to the one thing they never expected. The love affair that started it all! FIND OUT WHERE THOSE MACPHERSON MEN GOT THEIR (AHEM...) CHARM! โ โ โ โ โ โSo captivating, full of body, character dimension. I feel as if I am experiencing the same things as the characters .... and feeling the whole experience of learning about each other, learning respect for each other, and learning to love each other as fate should have it. The characters ... are so real, so touchable.โ โ โ โ โ โ Action-packed, romantic story with likable, interesting characters! I lalso loved the frequent contrasts between what Elizabeth thinks, says and does, and Alexander's perceptions of her. And just ss telling contrasts among what Alexander thinks, says, does with the additional contrasts between them and Elizabeth's perceptions. We see these two and their interactions from every angle, which creates subtlety, humor and a delightfully nuanced complexity to their relationship. One instance of humor occurs when Alexander correctly defines two parts of a church and states the information required to calculate the number of flying buttresses for a cathedral, and Elizabeth thinks "What a magnificent man!" Yet when he'd previously put himself in danger to save her life, she thought, "He deserves some credit. I better be polite." I highly recommend this book. Review: Good read - Nice short book with good action and plot. Enjoyed reading it. Look forward to reading more of her good stories

A Midsummer Wedding
Dear Nikoo and Jim McGoldrick, Your books are treasures, every one of them. Your books are so above anyone else's, they are so captivating, full of body, character dimension. I feel as if I am experiencing the same things as the characters, the environment, the weather, seeing the river's water from the barge. Being inside the ship during that horrific squall with Ambrose, Elizabeth, Mary in the book "Heart of Gold". In this book, "A Midsummer Wedding" , the angst and physical experience of being swept away, almost drowning several times with snakes and bees and hardly a place to shelter from the extreme storm. And feeling the whole experience of learning about each other, learning respect for each other and learning to love each other as fate should have it. And don't get me started on their passion, for all of your characters in all your books. The characters you both develop are so real, so touchable. Your books have meat and substance. Your stories are far and away a gazillion times better than any others I have read. Brava!!! Bravo!!!

Superb
I have read all about the MacPhersons parents and sons. All of them are so attractive and enticing, and their wives so perfect for them that, no doubt, I had to read the beginning of this lovely family and what can I say? the book is too short i wished to keep on reading about Alexander and Elizabeth. The story is fantastic and the characters are unique. Loved this couple, and loved the whole saga. Worth reading, well written, full of wit exchanges of words and phrases, humorous in an intelligent way. In fact, do not miss it, it is very recommendable.

Always great!
Wow! Another wonderful book. I seem to love reading all of your book. The characters are interesting and I think that you write like they are real people. And the history that you add in your stories is interesting and fits into the stories so nicely. Itโs hard to explain but Every book that I read is just so well written and interesting and just so good. I canโt seem to be able to put them down. Best books that I have read in a while. Keep them coming. They are really good! Thanks!!

Great prequel
Enjoyable quick read. Loved reading where it all began. As always wonderfully written, and the historically accurate timeline is a bonus for the history enthusiasts.

Love it !
I love May McGoldrick books ! Love some more than other, and this one is another winner ! It's more of a short story than na actual book, but it's a great love story. Elisabeth and Alexander find love where they didn't think possible and set the example for fututre Macphersons. It's inspired me to read about all the Family, although I had already read about some of their grandsons in the "Scottish Relic" trilogy.
