10in1 Heavy Metals Water Test Strips (10 Tests), 100ct Water Testing Kit

I bought these to test my new reverse osmosis artesian water system because the water tastes poorly. It is supposed to add back in around 30-60 mg/l of calcium and magnesium to make the water slightly alkaline. There is no perceivable color difference in this low range, even in the sun. I tested tap water, purified water from the Walmart dispenser and from my R.O. System. They all looked the same, the same as the unused strip. I suspected they were just different colors of papers glued on to the stick so I tested some of my magnesium and zinc supplements. I got unexpected results. The magnesium pills showed strong presence of magnesium but also many other heavy metals. Only one of the zinc tablets showed zinc but also many contaminants. I don’t have the capacity to test the accuracy of the other metals. But for testing for added in magnesium and calcium in a reverse Osmosis system, I don’t recommend them.

I tried these strips to monitor drinking water quality over time. The testing process is fast and easy to repeat. The color results show up within seconds, though they are not very distinct. Matching them to the chart takes some interpretation and can vary each time.
