In Search Of Lost Time Boxed Set (4 Volumes) (Everyman's Library)

I read some of Proust's first and second book of this years ago, and always wanted to pick up a decent set to read . I was on a cruise last year and they had a library on the ship with volume II of this set, so re-reading aways into it was my leisure activity. It seemed like an excellent translation and a well-built set of books, so when I got back I did some hunting around and bought it here (at a fair price). It doesn't disappoint; it is a really nice set, even the paper is extra nice, kind of reminding me of what Easton Press uses. Anyway, very happy with it.

Beautiful edition and writing

The work speaks for itself. If you're going to buy Proust you might was well buy the whole set rather than try to pick it up piecemeal. Physically this is a very nice set with a good, historic font printed on high quality paper. A pleasant thing about the paper is the pages turn very easily. Each volume has a ribbon to mark your place. Explanatory notes are few and at the end of each volume. I enjoyed Harold Bloom's sixteen page introduction.

At less than $15 per volume, and 4 volumes rather than the usual 6 or 7, this well turned out set is a bargain. However, in order to fit it all in 4 volumes, the print is small, and the margins and leading are on the stingy side, which makes it a bit of a challenge to read for any length of time. I'm about 100 pages into volume 1, and I'm considering another edition. (Caveat: My eyesight isn't what it used to be, so this set may be just fine for someone else.)

Best print. Words size is perfect, cover and pages are very good quality.

The paperback I paid $30 for had a bent and scratched cover and OMG on opening this book the typeface was cheap large typewriter font on bright white paper which is absolutely horrible to read. WHAT A CHEAP production. Who even knows if all the words were included in this first volume of a six volume set. Amazon presents it as the complete book when there are actually 6 volumes. Dont buy this paperback with the daisy on the cover it is absolutely awful.

I had been looking for a complete hardcover set of Proust's "In Search of Lost Time" for quite a while. This set is elegantly boxed and just what I was looking for.

Amazon wouldn’t let me post my original bad review resulting in one star and I suppose buyers won’t ever know why because of this. But unimpressed and can’t say why.

Not a criticism of the content but of the faint print and typeface . I think Amazon prints when a customer orders a copy.

This book is an interesting read a little heavy sometimes confusing but a good book to spend time with.

Beautiful books, but the covers (and the box around it) are damaged. I wish there would be more attention to wrapping the books properly, so they wouldn't arrive in this state.

Everyman edition is beautifully presented. Still to read the books!
