I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but I have the peacock and just went to order one for my mom because she's been trying to steal mine for weeks! LOL. It is a very cool and sophisticated looking throw, and I consider myself a bit of an expert and collector. I think you will love it. I've not yet washed mine and will be careful with it when I do and will update my response. I have had no shedding, smells Etc. Go for it, if nothing else it's a cool and unusual accessory for your living or bedroom!

Does the camel brown have dark gold highlights?

Not to my knowledge. If you are looking for golden highlights, go with the blanket labeled “golden” something or other. It is nicely done any way you look at it.
