Pleased with this Grundfos Pump
Installed this pump last July during boiler shutdown. Throughout this winter so far, after several severe cold weather spells, this pump has performed flawlessly. It is very quiet---I only hear water moving in the pipes if I listen carefully!! This pump is Silent with a capital S! We had a conventional pump/assembly and electric motor set-up for 20+ years and those were noisy (at the boiler and throughout the system). Now, all I hear (At the boiler) is a click from the thermostat relay and the burners lighting in the boiler. Wish I knew of these pumps some time ago. Installation was less a headache than I expected. The best part = no more oiling. I used to oil the motor and the bearing assembly in the old setup and spent many moments trying to second guess myself on whether I got it right. I left the old set-up on a shelf in the garage in case I needed it. Now it looks like I can get rid of the old parts. I kept the check valve in the pump when installing and noted the water must stay stationary when the boiler is off because the temp of the pipes at the boiler remain hot. This tiny pump has more than satisfied the heating needs of our home under all conditions thus far (January 16, 2014).

Pump Thumbs Up
I replaced an existing Grundfos pump that went kaputt after 13 years. All the input from community regarding my questions was very helpful. The flange shape was slightly different but the O ring fit both openings that were already plumbed in. I tightened the bolts and no leaks thank goodness The old pump was single speed , the new one 3 speed. I cut the difference and set it to medium. I was able to use the existing power cord and connected easily to the pumpโs electrical configuration. Quiet and most importantly instant hot water. I ordered the flange kit, but didnโt need it since It came with new O rings and was able to use the same housing and bolts that were there already. If I even get half the life I got from the last one, I will be very satisfied because the price is right.

7 years in, going strong
Quiet and reliable. Wish it had an integrated bleed valve (maybe they do now, they didn't in 2016). I'd recommend installing a ball valve with bleeder on the inlet side (bleeder facing away from the pump) if using for recirculation, bleeding the system is critical for operation, and has to be done every time my plumbing is drained. Ymmv.

which is amazing based on the amount of water it pumps
I use this pump to circulate spa water, to and from a hot water heater. I have had my spa for maybe 25 years and this latest Grundfos is perhaps my 3rd one. It is run day and night, 24/7. The pump is absolutely silent, which is amazing based on the amount of water it pumps. The pump draws about 25 watts of electricity continuous, so I don't think it affects my electric bill very much. This is a cast iron pump, so my spa water with the spa chemicals will eventually rust it shut requiring replacement. "Eventually" meaning years in my case. I have experimented with a lot of pumps for various applications, but this pump is by far the best I have found. I suppose I could buy the more expensive stainless version of this pump, but I can live with replacement every few years using cast iron. Remarkable product in my opinion.

Grundfos brute 3 speed 1/25 hp recirculator pump
You will need to plumb in the pump by buying a flange set for the pump and then you will need to run 120 volts of electricity to it. You can easily run this pump off a photo voltaic power grid because it is so good at using electricity.I used it on my solar hot water heater for the hot tub. Works great and pumps about 4 to 5 gallons per minute.(this will vary depending on length of run and height water must be pumped to plus sos(some other stuff)) It keeps my hot tub(1500 gallon size) at a perfect 100 degrees all day for under 5 cents of electricity per day. (based on 6 hour average day of sun year around) So use this pump in conjuntion with a solar hot water heater and keep your hot tub perfectly hot for about $1.26 per month.

Perfect OEM Replacement
The Grundfus Circulating Pump was ordered on a Friday at 5:00 pm and it was delivered (free) to my door the following Monday at 9:00 am. It appears the unit was shipped from Mississauga, ON vs. the Seller location in Victoria, BC.The Amazon pricing was very favourable compared to local bricks & mortar vendors.Packaging at the Amazon Distribution Centre was adequate but not outstanding... Grundfos documentation states: "Take care to ensure the pump is NOT dropped or mishandled; dropping will damage the pump".Clearly written & illustrated instructions are included together with a pair of new rubber gaskets. The replacement pump was virtually identical to the original 18 year-old unit with worn out bearings.Installation was straight forward and took less than 5 minutes (excluding preparation & clean-up).I'm disappointed Grundfos does not design these units to be refurbished with new bearings & seals but recommends "Disposal in an environmentally sound way".Overall, a very good experience and highly recommended.

Noisy at first, now working fine
Installed in the circulation line for our underfloor garage heating system. At first it squealed quite a bit and it didnt seem to be moving any fluid at all. I uninstalled it and removed the white plastic backblow valve on the output side of the pump, then primed the pump from the output side but filling the line with fluid and reconnecting it. After that the pump was nearly silent and we could see the fluid moving very quickly through the lines. If this pump is operating properly you shouldn't hear much noise, its a barely noticeable hum.

Well designed pump and easy to replace.
I have a hot water boiler system at my apartment complex with three of these installed. One failed so it needed to be replaced. The installer of the pumps didn't have the foresight to install proper isolation valves on the discharge of these pumps so I was faced with the potential of having to drain an entire zone which would require subsequent venting with is a pain. Luckily, there is a check valve on these pumps and I was able to simply remove the 4 bolts holding the motor in place and replace with the new motor. Saved me lots of time an aggrevation. I should also mention that the contractor that was sent to diagnose the problem was asking $575 to supply and install a new pump!
