Ronja the Robber's Daughter Illustrated Edition : Lindgren, Astrid: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: For everyone : Buy it, read it, share it, watch it. Love it. - I love the Studio Ghibli animated version of Ronja the Robber's Daughter. I love the light, the breeze, the snow, the trees, the weight of Noddle Pete's little cape as it slides off the table when he moves to stand up, the flames, the woodland folk and all those tiny little details which bring it all to life so beautifully, but, above all, I love Birke. Birke is the one true friend that everyone should have and that everyone should aspire to be. Please buy this book, even if you don't have children to share it with, just to get to know him. This is a perfect book to share with a child at bedtime. Read it with care, don't rush through it with too many chapters all at once. Let the characters and scenery come to life in your imagination. Who wouldn't want to be Ronja, living in a castle in a forest with a band of robbers, or better still, to be Ronja living in a cave in a forest without a band of robbers? This is the sort of book that a child will want to take out of your hands the moment you finish it, so that they can read it all over again by themselves. It's written for children, so the language is simple, direct and easy to follow, and the pictures it creates in your head are amazing. This edition contains pictures and sketches taken from the animated series, which I think only adds to it's charm. Buy it, read it, share it, watch it. Love it. Review: Great story and characters - One of my favourite children's books of all time. The characters are so brilliantly portrayed you can't help but love them all.

An excellent read for youngsters; and pretty good for adults too!
A German couple, personal friends of mine, recently named their firstborn daughter "Ronja" because the book had meant so much to them. So I read it for myself to understand why. I wasn't disappointed.

European children's story writer par excellence.
The book was a present for a young relative which has been very much appreciated by the recipient. The first copy arrived with a damaged cover but was replaced within a couple of days once I had reported the issue (at no additional cost). Astrid Lindgren is a wonderful writer of children's stories and the book (translated from the Swedish original) uses images from the Studio Ghibli serealisation of the book.

If your daughter was born to be a bit far from being a pink princess...
Classic book for young children. I'd recommend it for girls, those a bit more wild, adventurous and looking for troubles ;)

Uncredited Miyazaki cover and no illustrations inside, printed on basically toilet paper.

Quite disappointed. I wanted a book with illustrations. I spent extra for the illustrations. Perhaps there are 5 black and white, small illustrations throughout the book. Not worth it. You may as well buy the cheaper version of the book. This is not an upgrade.
